The Trusts & Foundations Specialist will play a key role in identifying and securing grants from trusts and foundations. You will lead on researching new opportunities, crafting compelling applications, and stewarding relationships with grantmakers. We’re looking for a diligent and thoughtful writer with a sharp eye for detail and a deep interest in our work, who is also keen to contribute to the wider life of the organisation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Grant Prospecting & Pipeline Development

• Research and maintain a pipeline of trusts and foundations aligned with OSH’s mission and growth priorities.

• Work closely with OSH leadership to align fundraising priorities with programme plans and organisational growth.

• Maintain up-to-date records on potential and active funders in OSH’s CRM.
   

Bid Writing & Submission

• Write and submit high-quality, tailored applications that articulate OSH’s impact, values and plans.

• Ensure applications are accurate, persuasive, and meet deadlines and funder requirements.

• Collaborate with the team to gather supporting information, budgets, and case studies.
   

Reporting & Stewardship

• Prepare timely and engaging reports for successful grants, ensuring compliance with funder requirements and strong stewardship.

Cross-Organisational Contribution

• Coordinate annual impact reporting, including data analysis, case studies, and visual storytelling.

The role of Council is to lead on the GOC’s mission to protect the public by upholding high standards in eye care services.  The Council is composed of six lay members (including the Chair) and six registrant members (i.e. registered optometrists and dispensing opticians).  At least one member of the Council must work wholly or mainly in each of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.  One Council member acts as a Senior Council Member whose role is to carry out the Chair’s appraisal as well as provide a sounding board for the Chair and serve as an intermediary for Council members, Executive and stakeholders as necessary. 

The successful candidate will contribute to Council by exercising oversight, ensuring effective corporate governance, and making high-level policy decisions. Remuneration and time commitment

Council members are remunerated in accordance with our member fees policy (£13,962 per annum plus reasonable travel and subsistence expenses).  The member fee includes time for reading and preparation.

The appointed member will be expected to commit approximately 2-3 days per month.  Meetings will usually take place via MS Teams but may on occasion be held at the GOC Offices at Level 29, One Canada Square, London, E14 5AA. You will support the development and delivery of our schools, youth centre and detached programmes. This will consist of one to ones and group work with young people within schools, detached work in designated areas as well as centre-based provision. You will be responsible for building strong, professional relationships with young people and adapting and coordinating a service around their needs. You will work in partnership with the other Youth Workers on the team, the Youth & Community Manager, schools and youth organisations around the county as well as the wider voluntary sector and statutory partners

You will work also in the community to identify and support volunteers to become engaged within our services and provision. You will collate a range of data, information and imagery that creates evidence of your work and the impact it is making not only to young people but also to the wider community.

  What We’re Looking For:

• A relevant qualification (NVQ Level 3 in Management or equivalent).
• Significant experience in recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers — including hard-to-fill roles.
• Strong knowledge of Safer Recruitment practices and volunteer management systems (or HR equivalents).
• A successful track record of delivering complex volunteer projects to deadlines.
• Experience working in the charity sector, with a solid understanding of volunteer leadership, recruitment, and retention challenges.
• Confidence in using data to analyse trends and improve volunteer engagement.
• Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, including data protection.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong IT literacy.

As Healthcare Professional Education & Engagement Lead at Crohn's & Colitis UK, you will be integral in the development of healthcare professional online education and engagement networks in both primary and secondary care. You will also work on a variety of other healthcare professional projects. This is a role that is both fulfilling and challenging and requires travel to healthcare professional conferences. You will be supporting the Health Services Manager and liaising with both internal and external stakeholders, all with a view to improving the quality and the standards of health services for all people affected by Crohn's and Colitis.

Our location

We are based in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, so we are easily accessible by road and rail. But one thing we have learned from the pandemic, is that we are able to work very effectively from home. In this role, there is plenty of scope for doing that, although there will be times when you will need to be at face-to-face meetings and the charity meets four times a year in the office at our mandatory 'All Staff Together' days. What does this mean day to day?

• You’ll spend time listening to what’s emerging in communities, building trust with partners, and making sense of how insight, decisions, and action travel across the system.
• You’ll support our governance groups, coordinating agendas, shaping recommendations, and helping hold people gently but clearly to account for the things they’ve committed to.
• You’ll track where energy is building, where its leaking, and where attention needs to shift. That means spotting patterns, asking difficult questions, and making sure conversations lead to decisions, and decisions lead to change.
• You’ll need to hold contradictions without forcing resolution: where different truths exist at once, where progress creates new tensions, and where outcomes are unclear. Critical thinking is key; this role is as much about reflection and challenge as it is about delivery.
• Some days you’ll be co-designing a development session. Other days, you’ll be reflecting on what’s working, what’s drifting, and how we bring things back into focus. You’ll be supported by a small team who care about doing this work well, with clarity, kindness, and a shared sense of purpose.
