We are seeking a Ledger Clerk (maternity cover) to support the finance team at the Biochemical Society.

​The Ledger Clerk will be involved in all aspects of the accounting function under the daily supervision of the Finance Manager, including:

​Purchase ledger and expenses:

• Responsible for maintaining purchase ledger
• Coding and processing of supplier invoices
• Ensuring supplier invoices are approved and paid within agreed timeframe
• Preparing weekly payment runs (BACS, CHAPS, cheques and overseas)
• Assisting Processing of staff expense claims and credit card statements
• Reconciliation of supplier and staff statements
• Maintenance of supplier records
• Being the first point of contact for suppliers

Sales ledger and credit control:

• Assisting the Finance Manager with maintaining the sales ledger and revenue imports
• Bank/cash book maintenance
• Responsible for daily banking
• Assisting the Finance Manager with maintaining the petty cash

Other accounting and administration tasks:

• Responsible for maintaining the Finance email inbox
• To cover the Finance Manager in periods of absence

Blue Ventures is a marine conservation organisation that puts people first. We support coastal fishers in remote and rural communities to rebuild fisheries and restore ocean life.

Our work began two decades ago in Madagascar’s remote coastal communities and is growing globally.

Blue Ventures is seeking an experienced and passionate fisheries expert to lead and manage the Transform Bottom Trawling (TBT) Coalition’s technical and strategic work. This is an exciting opportunity to play a central role in a growing global movement that seeks to end destructive bottom trawling practices and champion the rights of small-scale fishers.

The Transform Bottom Trawling Coalition is a global movement uniting small-scale fishers, coastal communities, and environmental groups against the most destructive form of industrial fishing. Together with over 120 members, we are advocating for:

• Protecting coastal water: Creating Inshore Exclusion Zones and Preferential Access  Areas to keep bottom trawling out and give small-scale fishers priority access.

• Safeguarding marine life: Ensuring bottom trawling is prohibited in Marine Protected      Areas (MPAs) to protect marine animals and plants.

• Supporting fair subsidies: Ending subsidised bottom trawling and supporting a fair transition.

• Stopping expansion: Preventing bottom trawling from expanding into new, untrawled areas.

You will be responsible for providing expert advice across the coalition, driving research and knowledge creation, and ensuring the coalition remains at the forefront of scientific, policy, and advocacy developments. Your expertise will help shape impactful strategies and campaigns that promote sustainable, equitable, and community-led ocean governance.

The ideal candidate will bring expertise in fisheries science and policy and a commitment to social and environmental justice. About the role

This role will be part of the finance system team acting as a finance system business expert, administering, supporting and developing Unit 4 ERP. The role will also be critical in the execution of key Finance Projects, including the migration to Unit 4’s Cloud and the implementation of Unit 4s Financial Planning and Analysis Tool.

The role will support finance users and the wider organisation to get the most out of Unit 4 ERP by ensuring the integrity of accounting data, compliance with finance controls, robust workflow management and report maintenance and development.

The grants operations and data manager is a newly created role, within Moorfields Eye Charity's grants and research team, to support, manage and develop grant funding operations. The Fundraising Strategy & Operations Team deliver the Fundraising strategy and provide high quality operations to support the Fundraising Directorate.  The team has a variety of different functions including Supporter Care, Strategic Liaison with Service teams, Compliance, Supporter Journeys and Communications as well as general administration. This role will be managing the Supporter Care team of three people.

About you

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience of working in a busy supporter care environment, working to tight deadlines
• Experience of writing donor correspondence and creating data capture guidance
• Proven experience of supporter care campaign management including creating clear processes and flow charts and managing, negotiating and liaising with suppliers.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan and manage a variety of projects and activities to tight deadlines
• Excellent interpersonal skills, along with the ability to develop strong working relationships with external suppliers and internal departments
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to deliver presentations and produce written documents to a high standard

• • Overseeing the Supprter Care team, leading and managing the vision of the team and ensuring that outstanding levels of service are provided to our supporters.
  • Third party supplier management- pint of contact for third party suppliers, advising on process from Supporter Care prospective.
  • Budget Management - managing the annual Supprter Care budget for fulfilment.
  • Cntact Centre and Zendesk Management - providing proactive and responsive support to Fundraising teams to enhance fundraising efforts

About You

We're looking for someone with proven experience in community fundraising and engagement, someone who can build trusted relationships across diverse stakeholder groups and communicate with clarity and warmth. You will be confident managing multiple priorities independently and bring creativity and energy to campaigns and supporter engagement. Experience with Canva or similar design tools is a plus, as is familiarity with fundraising regulations, and a willingness to learn.

There is parking onsite, and travel across the community is paid. Travel in and around the community is flexible across the week for how you wish to make it work. You must have experience in community fundraising to be considered for this role as this is key.
