Job description

BookTrust is the UK’s largest children’s reading charity. We know that children who read are happier, healthier, more empathetic, and more creative. They also do better at school.

Working with every local authority and across every region in the country, and supported by Arts Council funding, we reach over 1.3 million children and families a year via partners in schools, children’s centres, health visitors and libraries. This incredible network helps us to get children reading across the country.

Reading for pleasure has a dramatic impact on educational outcomes, wellbeing and social mobility, and is also a huge pleasure in itself. We are committed to starting children on their reading journey and supporting them throughout.

Our England Partnerships Team support our wide range of partners in a place-based way, working in and with local communities and the children and families most in need of support.

As a Community Engagement Coordinator - Central Region, you will work within the regional partnerships team to support projects, pilots and pieces of learning to build greater place-based working with the BookTrust partner network.

This post is homebased, working within BookTrust’s Central England region, which covers East and West Midlands, East Anglia and some home counties with significant flexibility and extensive travel across the region and to other BookTrust offices in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

PLEASE NOTE: Applying as soon as possible is advised, as the vacancy may close early, due to the high volume of applicants.

Want to join us? Find out more about who and for further informaiton on the role via our website.

To apply, please send a copy of your CV along with a covering letter showing how you meet the person specification and your motivations for applying for the role. Your covering letter should not be longer than two sides.

Closing date: Friday 29th August 2025 at 5pm.

Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusivity

We aim to provide an inclusive recruitment process and actively welcome applications from diverse talent pools: minority ethnic candidates, candidates with disabilities and long-term conditions and candidates from underrepresented communities.

BookTrust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The recruitment and selection process reflect our commitment to safeguarding therefore, the suitability of all prospective employees will be assessed during the recruitment process in line with this commitment, and pre-employment checks.
