Key Details

About you:

Barnardo's Kickstart Futures Service; Floating Support for Care Leavers in Sutton.
Barnardo's, in partnership with The London Borough of Sutton, is providing a floating support service for Care Leavers with low to medium levels of support needs.
The service provides floating support to Young People across a range of properties located within the borough of Sutton, as well as a small number of Young People based elsewhere in the community, mainly around The London Borough of Sutton and neighbouring boroughs.
Some residents are Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Young People (UASYP), or survivors of Human Trafficking, who are over the age of 18.
The service delivers key work support to each Young Person on an individual basis and additional group work sessions for property residents. Key work sessions are scheduled in collaboration with the Young Person. Key work hours will be delivered flexibly to meet the needs of the Young People and include regular evenings and weekends in order to fit around college and/or work schedules for Young People who are engaged in Education, Employment or Training.

About Amala:
Amala’s mission is to use the power of education to transform the lives of young refugees, their communities and the world. We are a founder-led, non-profit organisation with big ambitions to create a deep and lasting impact for young people who are displaced. We have developed the first, internationally accredited, upper secondary level programme for out of school refugees and crisis affected youth, and currently reach approximately 1400 students a year. As demand for our education programmes continues to grow, and in line with our 2024-2027 strategic plan, we aim to triple the number of young people we serve, reaching at least 5,800 students per year by 2027. Our bold vision is that millions of refugee youth have access to transformative education by 2040.
Our team is fully remote, with our Global Team based in the UK, Canada, Singapore and Greece. We also have two learning centres, one in Amman, Jordan and one in Kakuma Refugee Camp, Kenya and work with a growing list of partners across Kenya, Uganda and Malaysia.
The Opportunity:
This is where this new role comes in: The Head of Fundraising will play a crucial role in supporting the stewardship of the current donors while also securing the vital resources needed to realise our bold ambition and help us transform the lives of millions of young refugees and conflict affected youth across the globe.
You will be part of leading a growing and changing organisation, and will work closely with Amala’s two Co-founders and the Fundraising Manager to develop and implement a multi-year fundraising strategy, cultivate and deepen key donor relationships and boost our income growth from our current £800k towards our £3 million target by 2027, driving the financial sustainability necessary for Amala’s continued growth and impact.

Who we are looking for:
A strategic, entrepreneurial and ambitious senior fundraiser with a proven track record of securing significant UK and international funding (£1m+ annual income generation), developing high-impact strategies, and building strong donor relationships. You will be an inspiring leader with exceptional people management skills, with experience in leading growing organisations, and who enjoys the strategic side of the role as well as having a hands on approach.
The role would be best suited to someone who is committed to making a difference to the lives of young refugees, with a strong grounding in international charity sector fundraising. and international funding.
Essential experience:

Proven experience in a senior fundraising management role within the non-profit sector, ideally within international development.

A proven track record of success in fundraising, particularly in developing and executing complex fundraising strategies for a growing non-profit organisation.

Experience developing and implementing multi-year income generation plans.

A strong history of securing six-figure, multi-year grants and contracts in the UK and internationally, with an annual income generation of £1m+.

Senior-level experience managing relationships with multiple, diverse funders and donors.

Experience writing successful partnership bids, grant proposals, cases for support, and theories of change.

Experience in leading change in a growing organisation.

At least three years of experience leading and managing a team, with a track record of developing and supporting staff.
What we offer:
This full time, fully remote position offers a salary of £50,000-55,000 if you are a UK resident. If you reside in a different location, the salary will be adjusted accordingly. You will work closely with a driven, collaborative, entrepreneurial and supportive team from around the world, and you are required to be in a time zone GMT +/- 3 hours.

A mission-driven and impact focused single programme NGO is seeking an Interim Finance Director for a 1 year maternity cover contract. The role is fully remote (from within the UK) and is full-time (5 days per week) for a 12 month contract. There may be the requirement to travel to Ghana on occasion throughout the 12 months. Salary is £63,000 - £70,000 depending on skills and experience, and the role would best suit a fully-qualified accountant with significant experience managing global finance teams within the international development sector.
The organisation’s mission is to get 3-6 year old children in rural Africa to thrive. They have developed an award-winning Early Childhood Development programme, proven its impact through rigorous evaluation, and scaled it with governments in both Ghana and Uganda. It is currently reaching over 300,000 children per year, and we aim to reach 1 million children per year by 2028. The programme benefits both preschool age children and unlocks the potential of marginalised rural parents.
With around 100 staff globally, the interim Finance Director will manage a diverse team of finance professionals. Your role will include setting and managing budgets, supporting fundraising strategy and proposals, overseeing spend and financial controls and processes. You will lead the finance team in Ghana made up of a Junior Finance Manager, four Finance Officers, two bookkeepers and a Procurement and Logistics Officer. You will also manage the Uganda Finance Officer, and Global Finance Manager based in the UK.
The role will involve a mixture of hands-on accounting, complex donor reporting, consolidated and year-end accounts, budgeting, forecasting, scenario planning and financial modelling. Xero is used across the organisation, and financial year-end is December.
Duties include:
· Contribute to the development and implementation of the organisation’s scale and income-generation strategy, including exciting new opportunities for potential expansion to the southern regions in Ghana and exploring implementation of the programme in a new country.
· Develop and strengthen robust and flexible cost models (including sensitivity analyses/stress testing) to guide decisions around the pace and rate of scale, staffing & resource requirements, ensure value for money and maximise cost efficiencies.
· Develop robust budgets for new and renewal funder applications, considering complexities around funder restrictions, currency exchange and forecast economic conditions.
· Ensure that the organisation-wide financial systems, policies, procedures and internal controls and audits are robust, compliant and best practice to support current activities and future growth.
· Be pro-active in identifying ways to improve efficiencies and strengthen financial rigour, including leading on internal projects to enhance systems and processes to automate approvals and develop cost recovery models as we look to expand our operations outside Ghana and Uganda.
· Lead and coach the finance team to maintain and deliver operational excellence & financial rigour, closely monitoring the operating and financial reports against plans and budgets.
· Lead monthly financial reviews and oversee timely production of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports to the Board, donors and management team.
· Work with our internal operations and programmes team to develop financial systems so that direct financial support is provided to local government partners and they are able to take on responsibility for and account for programme budgets, including overseeing termly financial disbursements and reporting.
· Work with programmes team to build the capacity of local government partners in financial management, procurement, and budgeting so that they will eventually be able to fund and sustain the programme themselves. Create the budgets, financial information, documentation and materials for funding proposals.
· Oversee the creation of all financial reports for funders, ensuring mechanisms to track and report against restricted income are robust, and preparing financial analyses for funder
· Provide monthly and quarterly management accounts for trustees summarising current and forecast financial position for the year, cashflow analysis and KPI reporting.
· Attend trustee meetings, present information to the Board and liaise with Board members, including leading the quarterly Finance and Audit Committee meetings.
· Ensure that the Statutory Accounts for all entities are prepared, including internal information is collated and provided, external auditors are instructed and deliver to standard.
· Ensure all organisations are compliant with tax, regularity and legal requirements (e.g payroll, tax, NGO registration, insurance, registrations with regulatory authorities)
· Actively manage the performance and build the capacity of direct reports through training, coaching, holding 1to1s, setting performance goals, appraisals, developing new policies and practices.
Requirements:
-Fully-qualified ACCA, CIMA, ACA essential
-Prior experience working as Head of Finance or Finance Director in an international development charity (NGO)
-Prior experience managing a global team
-Deep understanding of international charity finance - donor reporting, programmes finance, foreign currency transactions

Role Overview
As a member of the Joint Leadership Team, the post-holder will contribute to the leadership, planning and delivery of cross-team projects, helping to influence and meet the charity’s strategic objectives. Specifically, they will lead projects and programmes to deliver improvements in quality and standards of health services for people affected by Crohn’s and Colitis. In doing so, they will work closely with not only the Director of Services & Evidence and Heald of Health Services, but also external stakeholders including health and social care organisations, academics, researchers and other charities. The post-holder will also be actively involved in leading, supporting and developing the Health Services team.
About You
Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent, you will have experience of delivering health service projects and programmes and have come from a health services or medical charity background. You will be adept at developing operational performance metrics, strategies and objectives and have a proven track record in developing strong working relationships with external stakeholders. Whilst not essential, experience of managing and leading a team would be beneficial, as would be an awareness and knowledge of the needs of people affected by Crohn’s and Colitis.

In this role, there is plenty of scope for working from home, although there will be times when you will need to travel to events/conferences. You will be required to attend two Directorate days each year and occasional face-to-face meetings with your team or our partner agencies. In addition, the charity meets four times annually at its office in Hatfield (or a location in London) for its’ ‘All Staff Together’ days, at which attendance is mandatory.
