Job Purpose

The finance team is a core part of our Operations Directorate, and although we’re a small team we have a huge impact on the effectiveness of our organisation. The team provides support and guidance to all staff members on how to process invoices, expenses, and generally manage their budgets effectively. The main purpose of the Finance Officer role is to provide key support to the finance team with our finance processes, supporting staff members across the organisation, helping with any queries on a day-to-day basis, as well as supporting our members and suppliers with queries. The Finance Officer ensures all financial transactions are processed in accordance with BSR’s procedures and processes and in line with data protection regulations. 

You don’t need to have worked in the charity sector previously. Continual professional development is vital for us as a team, and so we’re happy to support you if you’re interested in completing a professional finance qualification.

Main Responsibilities

Purchase Ledger 

• Receive all supplier invoices (including member expenses), checking correct finance codes with relevant nominal, department, project, VAT and fund codes are on all invoices, and that the necessary authorisation is present 
• Scan and file all finance related documents (e.g. bank statements)  
• Set up fortnightly supplier payment runs for review by the Finance Manager 

 Sales Ledger 

• Work with budget holders and project leads to produce sales invoices  
• Liaise with budget holders to ensure correct coding of all invoices (nominal, department, project, VAT, and fund codes) 
• Credit Control – dealing with customer queries and chasing for payments fortnightly 

Other Finance Responsibilities 

• Manage monthly credit card process including posting in Dext and reconciliation in Xero  
• Assist the Finance Manager with preparing for year end and audit fieldwork 
• Reconcile purchase ledger payments with the bank transactions 
• Run new starter finance inductions for budget holders and set up new staff on finance systems 
• Maintain process documents for all finance systems 
• Suggest and support relevant finance system and process improvements where identified 
• Be the first point of contact for finance systems and internal system integrations 

Payroll 

• Ensure new starters are processed by HR 
• Process leavers  
• Exported payroll reports and ensuring that they are filed in the correct place 
• Run the monthly payroll with Finance Manager 
• Submission of EPS and FPS to HMRC 
• Pensions administration

Committee Management 

• Minute-taking for Finance & Risk Committee meetings 
• Administrative support relating to committee management

In this role, you’ll be responsible for:

The Lead Coach is primarily responsible for overseeing the training room and group sessions with young people. You will help shape the training environment and will confidently adapt and deliver materials and sessions to work within the group’s development towards work readiness.

Delivery of Spear Programme - Group and 1:1 coaching [60%]

• Preparing and coaching Spear Foundation sessions and 1-1s, ensuring that young people are engaged, retained and work-ready by the end of this initial phase of the programme.
• Building relationships with young people on the programme and managing culture and attitudes in the training room.
• Adapting the Spear coaching material according to the needs of the Trainees and managing behaviour effectively.

Delivery of Spear Career [20%]

• Delivering weekly Spear Career sessions (including running workshops with past Trainees), maintaining records and reporting on statistics, and creatively developing ongoing relationships with Spear Trainees.

Training the Assistant Coach [10%]

• Contributing towards the training and developing of the Assistant Coach by modelling excellent coaching and giving regular feedback.

Trainee recruitment [10%]

• Developing relationships with Job Centres and local referral agencies to ensure that the maximum number of Spear Trainees are enrolled on each programme. This involves liaising with referral agencies, active face-to-face recruitment and monitoring recruitment statistics.

We are looking for a creative, confident Content Creator to help us bring Leukaemia Care’s stories to life. Key Responsibilities

Content Creation 

Plan, film, and edit short-form videos and other content (including Reels, Stories, TikToks, YouTube Shorts) that show our services, staff, and community in action – explaining the impact of our work to patients, carers, professionals and fundraisers.

Capture photos at our Worcester HQ and at events, patient groups, or partner sites around the country.

Write and schedule social posts that match our tone and campaign goals.

Work with the wider Engagement team to generate content for internal communications and direct marketing materials.

Work with the Design Officer to produce graphics and templates for digital channels.

Repurpose patient stories, blog posts, and booklets into engaging social-friendly formats. 

Ensure all content meets accessibility and consent standards. 

Social Media and Engagement

Community Engagement Officer

This role is a FT maternity cover contract over a 15 month period, 38.75 hours pw with some weekend and evening working included. Overseen by our Head of Fundraising, this role primarily covers running the Shelters events alongside supervising our  non animal related Volunteers overseeing the running of our two Charity shops , actively recruiting and managing new corporate sponsors and donors including our Helping Hands offering and attending general networking events.

A full description of the role is below. There is a six month probationary period and the rate of pay will be £13.25 ph plus other staff benefits including a work place pension and company sick pay.   

This role will suit an enthusiastic, hardworking, self-motivated individual who  likes a split of indoor and outdoor working. JOB DESCRIPTION 

Title: Community Engagement Officer

Responsible to: Head of Fundraising

Post Objective: Working under the direction of the Head of Fundraising, to take responsibility for any community engagements. This being Corporate led commitments, events and management of Volunteers and the Charity Shops.

Responsibilities :-

• Work effectively as part of the Management team reporting directly to the Head of Fundraising to ensure that the Shelter is run in accordance with the instructions of the Board of Trustees.

• In conjunction with the Head of Fundraising and Fundraising team promote a range of fundraising events and functions on behalf of the shelter throughout the year including regular weekend activities, working closely with and involving other members of the management team, other staff and volunteers. Look after the entire life cycle of each event from initial enquiry/plan to completion.

· In conjunction with the Head of Fundraising and Fundraising team oversee regular Corporate groups attending the shelter, encouraging them to fundraise beforehand and afterwards. Support and lead their CSR day at the shelter.

· Responsible for the acquisition of new corporate partners and the effective stewardship and development of existing corporate relationships to maximise long-term support for the organisation.

 · Take the lead on any General Shelter talks within the local community.

· Collaborate with the Education team and support them with workshops where requested and relevant.

· Manage and oversee events on the day of happening, including problem solving, welcoming guests/supporters, directing event set-up, communicating with staff and organizing vendors. Ensure all event equipment such as gazebo’s, tables, chairs, information stand, marketing materials, etc are available and loaded onto vehicles the night before and then unloaded when returned.

• Communicate with other members of the Fundraising team to create effective advertisements for each event, creating paper based items such as posters and information or for the website/Facebook online advertisements for individual events., leaflets and online advertisement.

• Anticipate and plan for different scenarios and where necessary plan multiple events at once.

· Have overall responsibility for the promotion and performance of the onsite and offsite Charity Shops liaising regularly with and managing the Onsite Shop Supervisor and offsite Shop Manager. Ensure that the EPOS system incorporating the Retail Gift Aid process works correctly and captures GA where possible.

· Actively promote and coordinate the collection of items for fundraising recycling, via the individual Charity Shops.

· Coordinate the distribution, collection and careful recording of money spinners , individual money collection tins and food collection bins.

· Pro-actively seek out new collection sites and times, gaining local council licences where necessary and be involved and co-ordinate these. Includes street collections ( Christmas and Race week)  via Cheltenham Borough Council, Pets At Home store collections and regular supermarket collections.

· Ensure events are well manned by Volunteers and as much support is given as possible to all activities profiling the Shelter.

· Post and monitor adverts for and then recruit and induct new Volunteers for various non animal related roles as demand dictates within the Shelter.

· Monitor, encourage and support those volunteers in all aspects of daily life within both the Shelter and at all external events.

· Record regular hours of all Volunteers, hold thank you events and organise recognition certificates for long service Volunteers.

· Attend various Networking events to make new contacts and keep up to date with all local and national Volunteering groups and news.

· Promote the Animal Shelter in a positive and pro-active manner by improving systems and methods and provide an exemplary lead to staff.

· Provide excellent customer care when in contact with members of the public, supporters, sponsors ,and other’s presenting a professional image at all times.

You'll conduct market research, qualify new opportunities, and maintain a robust prospect pipeline to expand our existing funding base. This will involve the coordination and project management of outreach and engagement activities. 

• Proposal Development and Budgeting: Lead the creation of compelling, high-quality concept notes and multi-year funding proposals, aligned with funder priorities and including accurate, transparent budgets. 

• Donor Stewardship and Reporting: Be a key representative for Chapter Zero Alliance with funders, serving as a key liaison for funder-related operational queries. Essential Expertise 

• Significant experience working in institutional fundraising or partnership management within the non-profit or development sector. 

• Knowledge of the climate-related trust and grants sector internationally and in the UK.

Key Responsibilities 

Sub-Granting Operations and Process Management 

• Manage the full lifecycle of sub-grants, from the ‘request for proposal’ stage through to Chapter, or partner selection and contracting, reporting and closure. 

• Maintain oversight of all sub-granting timelines, documentation, and deliverables. 

• Ensure compliance with internal policies and funder requirements throughout the sub-granting cycle. 

• Provide administrative and logistical support for the sub-granting process, including database and document management. 

Chapter and Partner Due Diligence, Contracting 

• Lead and coordinate Chapter or sub-grant partner due diligence assessments in line with organisational standards. 

• Support risk mitigation planning and maintain up-to-date due diligence records. 

• Prepare and process partner contracts (sub-grant agreements) and amendments, timely signatures and filing.

• Significant experience in partnership management, grant administration, or programme coordination within the NGO or international development sector.

Partnerships Manager: Grantmakers

Role Purpose  

As Partnerships Manager: Grantmakers, you will lead the development and delivery of HOST’s Hosted Grantmaking service — ensuring that funders can move resources quickly, safely, and transparently to the people driving change.  

You will oversee funder relationships and hosted grantmaking delivery, building systems that ensure clarity, compliance, and care at every stage. Working closely with the Delivery Circle, you’ll strengthen due diligence, grant management, and reporting processes — enabling funders to trust that every pound achieves its intended impact.  

In order to respond to growing demand, you will build and manage the Hosted Grantmaking Community Support Team and liaise and coordinate with the Delivery Team, ensuring HOST has the capacity and expertise to meet growing global demand for hosted funds.  

This role is central to HOST’s ambition to become a trusted backbone for civil society infrastructure — connecting funders and change-makers through integrity, efficiency, and shared purpose.  

Core Responsibilities  

1. Hosted Grantmaking Leadership  

Lead the delivery and growth of HOST’s Hosted Grantmaking service, working closely with the Executive Director, Operations Director and other Partnership Managers, ensuring alignment between funder expectations, hosted partner needs, and internal delivery capacity.  

Co-design and coordinate the Hosted Grantmaking Delivery Team, coordinating with the Delivery Circle (Finance, Due Diligence, and Legal) to ensure seamless grant operations.  

Strategic oversight of hosted grantmaking cycles — from application to disbursement and reporting — ensuring accuracy, speed, and compliance in delivery.  

Reporting cadence: Monthly Hosted Grantmaking performance report to Executive Director and Operations Director.  

2. Hosted Grantmaking Community Support and Relationship Management  

Build and lead the Hosted Grantmaking Community Support Team, ensuring all funders and hosted funders receive consistent, proactive, and informed communication.  

Strengthen HOST’s funder community by developing engagement pathways, events, and resources that deepen relationships and mutual learning.  

Maintain high standards of care, responsiveness, and accountability across all funder interactions.  

Reporting cadence: Monthly funder community and relationship management summary.  

3. Due Diligence and Grant Facilitation  

Work with the Delivery Circle, Grants Manager, and Partnerships Manager: Funders to deliver due diligence processes that are rigorous, efficient, and scalable.  

Ensure all funder agreements, compliance documentation, and grant records are accurate, up to date, and audit-ready.  

Support the development of clear SOPs for due diligence and hosted grantmaking workflows in collaboration with the Legal Lead and Operations Team.  

Reporting cadence: Monthly compliance and due diligence report.  

4. Funder Relationship Stewardship and Growth  

Support the Partnership Team to manage relationships with key funders and philanthropic partners, ensuring HOST is recognised as a trusted, transparent delivery partner.  

Develop funder engagement plans and manage the funder relationship lifecycle from onboarding through renewal.  

Identify new funder opportunities aligned with HOST’s mission and facilitate introductions for the Partnerships Director and Executive Director.

5. Reporting and Communications  

Oversee funder reporting and impact communications, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with HOST’s tone of voice.  

Work with the Engagement Team to produce funder updates, case studies, and inputs to the HOST Impact Report.

6. Systems and Process Development

Working closely with senior leaders, trustees, and colleagues across the hospice, you’ll lead by example: crafting compelling proposals, inspiring engagement, and ensuring every donor feels valued and connected to the impact of their support.

About you

You’ll be a confident, emotionally intelligent leader with a proven track record of securing significant income and building trusted partnerships. You’ll bring creativity, warmth, and the ability to motivate others, both your team and your supporters.

You’ll also have:

• Experience leading high-performing fundraising teams and delivering ambitious income targets
• Excellent relationship management and influencing skills at a senior level
• Strong strategic and organisational ability, with a collaborative mindset
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• A deep commitment to the mission and values of Isabel Hospice
• A driving licence and own car
