About the team​

The Policy team is a small, collaborative and collegiate team looking to expand. We have a unique set-up, sitting separately to but working closely alongside the Communications team as part of the wider Public Affairs team. We influence key decision makers through direct engagement with senior officials, commissioning and sharing research and insight and supporting coalitions which include our portfolio charities to take their voice to decision makers to secure policy and funding commitments.

The team also works across the organisation, presenting insight to inform our investment decisions and making a compelling case to generate new financial commitments for our work.

About this role

The Public Affairs Officer is a new and exciting role in a rapidly expanding organisation at the forefront of youth policy. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to support the strengthening of Impetus’ public affairs profile, as well as support colleagues to strengthen and maintain relationships with parliamentarians, decision-makers, sector stakeholders and wider civil society.

We are looking for someone who shares our commitment to getting the support young people from disadvantaged background need in education and employment. You’ll have a passion for building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders across government and the third sector. You will have a good understanding of the UK’s policy environment with an interest in increasing your knowledge and relationships in this area and developing and expanding links with a range of parliamentary, government and other key stakeholders.

The Public Affairs Officer will be part of the wider Public Affairs Team. Though you will report to the Head of Youth Employment Policy, you will work across both our education and employment policy work, and will be expected to regularly collaborate with the Communications Team, and will understand the role of communications in shaping the political agenda and the public debate. You will have experience of writing for a wide range of audiences, ranging from policy briefings to social media content.

This role supports the delivery of high-quality public affairs work, following agreed plans, templates and processes, and escalating risks or issues promptly.

We’re interested in candidates who can demonstrate strong organisational skills, with experience of either leading or supporting the coordination and delivery of events. We’d particularly like to hear from candidates who have managed a CRM database such as Salesforce. You will be a strong team player, with a collaborative working style.

Key responsibilities

• Work with the Heads of Policy and Communications teams to contribute to public affairs plans by providing research, coordination and administrative support from the outset of each project
• Monitor and analyse political, policy developments and parliamentary activity, keeping your knowledge up to data and accurate, ensuring information is recorded using agreed templates and systems, and flagging relevant updates promptly
• Support the coordination of stakeholder engagement, including preparing briefings, organising meetings and maintaining accurate CRM records
• Coordinate and deliver public affairs events, including logistics, invitations, materials, briefing packs, on-the-day support and post-event follow-up for meetings, party conference activities, evidence sessions, roundtables, report launches and all other relevant events
• Manage our CRM database (Salesforce), ensuring data quality, completeness and accuracy, and flagging issues when needed
• Support the Communications Team to maintain and grow the profile of our policy work with priority audiences, following agreed brand guidelines, templates and approval processes
• Undertake some desk-based research to support policy projects when required, ensuring accuracy and clarity in all research outputs
• Assist in developing campaign tools and published materials
• Draft policy briefings, summaries, papers, presentations, and social media content
• Brief and support senior staff within the relevant policy areas, such as to prepare for a speaking event, roundtable, or high-level stakeholder meeting
• Monitor political and parliamentary developments and flag relevant updates and opportunities for influencing public policy to senior team members
• Support internal team processes by monitoring an allocated set of information sources, providing content for the internal and external newsletters, ensuring information management systems are kept up to date and accurate (e.g. briefing pack, team calendar)

Person specification

​Essential​

• A strong commitment to improving outcomes for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, and an understanding of the barriers they face across education and employment
• Proven organisational skills and the ability to operate effectively in a busy office environment, including the ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work across different projects simultaneously.
• Able to follow agreed processes, templates and guidance, maintaining accurate records and escalating issues early
• Strong written communication skills, including the ability to write copy for a range of audiences and formats based on complex content e.g. policy briefings, blogs, articles, website content and more, and willingness to seek feedback to improve clarity and impact
• Demonstrable record of building and maintaining effective working relationships across an organisation, working co-operatively as part of a team, welcomes feedback, and seeks clarification when tasks or priorities are unclear
• Strong IT Skills (Microsoft Office skills essential)

About this role

The Research and Evidence Officer is a new and exciting role at Impetus, an organisation at the forefront of youth policy. Impetus is evidence led and impact focused and we take this approach to our policy and public affairs activity. 

The successful candidate will provide the robust data and insights needed to help us build a better understanding of young people’s experiences across education and employment, support colleagues by providing accurate data, analysis and insight that informs policy development and communication designed to improve their outcomes, and support the team to create compelling cases for change tailored to a range of audiences. They will be line managed by the Head of Education Policy but work across both employment and education policy domains. 

We are a busy team doing interesting and exciting work. Day-to-day you might be extracting insights from government published data, providing evidence for a policy briefing, drafting a report for a policy audience, or working with colleagues from across the team to communicate research findings in impactful ways, following agreed templates, processes and quality standards, and seeking clarification where needed.

We are looking for someone with a commitment to supporting young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to get the support they need for a fulfilling life, whatever that means to them. You will have good knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods, have the skills required to analyse a range of data sets, including confidence applying quantitative research methods to conduct primary and secondary analysis of large and complex datasets, and the ability to present research findings clearly.

Ideal candidate

As a Senior Support Officer, you will primarily be responsible for raising awareness and providing a high-quality support and advocacy service to our members and their families.   You will be a relationship builder who cares about the community we serve and ensures that the individual (or family) remains at the centre of support.  You will have experience in multi-agency working and an in-depth understanding of the needs of those with disabilities, their families and carers.  Demonstrable experience and knowledge of health and social care, education and relevant assessment processes are essential. 

You will have excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to uphold best practice, challenge poor policy and inappropriate decisions.  Excellent IT skills and the ability to plan, prioritise and deliver to tight timescales are essential.  You will be self-motivated and highly organised, juggling many strands of work. 

As part of a small, dedicated team, you will have a positive attitude and a willingness to work collaboratively with your colleagues and external parties to raise awareness, advocate for our membership, as well as supporting the delivery and development of services for the MPS Society community.

Whilst a relevant qualification within health & social care, education or a related field is desirable, other knowledge and work experiences may be equally as valuable in this role. Prior knowledge of MPS and related conditions is not required however a special interest in neurology and working with individuals with neurological disabilities is advantageous.  In-depth support and training to develop expertise in MPS and related conditions, and the needs of those affected by these progressive, life-limiting conditions will be provided.

You will complete an Initial Needs Assessment (INA) with each client, having a detailed discussion with them to outline their situation and the support they need. We use a strengths-based approach to identify the positive attributes that they can build upon to achieve their goals and these are reflected in the design of the INA. Working together with your client, you will map out and agree a set of interventions and the outcomes needed, encouraging and empowering them to actively contribute towards their goals.

You will carry a fluctuating case load of service users with varying levels of needs. The focus of the service is to support the desistance model, supporting individuals to achieve their full potential.

The position will be based in HMP Lincoln, with other locations and travel expected when needed across the National Probation Service Region in Lincolnshire.

We are SIFA Fireside, the support service for any adult in Birmingham that faces homelessness. For 40 years we have supported Birmingham’s most vulnerable people through Homelessness Intervention, Prevention and Recovery services.

The purpose of the role is to support the development of SIFA Fireside through effective communications and campaigns. This role reports directly to the Head of Fundraising and Communications and is critical in raising our profile, raising funds and communicating the difference that SIFA Fireside and our supporters make to people experiencing homelessness in Birmingham. From external communications and awareness-raising campaigns to assisting with internal initiatives, this is a varied role which will work to maximise and strengthen our impact in the community.

Key Tasks (selection of):

1. Overseeing a range of communications campaigns covering schools and corporate fundraising, team challenges and social events as well as affecting change on a local and national level.

2. Supporting with organising a range of events including increasing awareness and fundraising initiatives both at SIFA Fireside and out in the community.

3. Writing press releases and promoting newsworthy stories before pitching to media outlets.

Be part of the first step in a survivor’s recovery journey by supporting safe and timely access to specialist services. This is a key frontline role working with survivors who have experienced sexual violence or sexual abuse to ensure they receive the right support at the right time.

As a Sexual Violence Practitioner within our Navigation and Engagement Service, you will act as the first point of contact for individuals accessing Survivors in Transition. You will deliver trauma-informed screening, risk assessment and triage, working closely with survivors to understand their needs, strengths and support priorities. Using your professional judgement, you will guide individuals into appropriate services and recovery pathways, ensuring safe entry into services and responding to any safeguarding or crisis needs in partnership with statutory agencies where required.

You will manage a short-term caseload from assessment through to intervention, providing check-in support, advocacy and wellbeing input while coordinating care with mental health services, police, social care and voluntary sector partners. This role plays a vital part in managing referral pathways, waiting lists and safe access to therapy, contributing to joined-up, survivor-led care across the region.

Working within a supportive and reflective team environment, you will maintain accurate records, monitor outcomes and contribute to service evaluation, helping to identify trends at the entry point to improve access to recovery services. This is a practitioner-level role requiring experience of working with trauma, managing risk and complexity, and making autonomous decisions within a safeguarding framework.

In return, Survivors in Transition offers hybrid working, regular clinical supervision and the opportunity to shape a growing specialist service supporting survivors across Suffolk.

The Governance and Operations Manager will play a pivotal role in enabling strong, effective governance, high-performing executive support and the smooth operations of the charity.

Overseen by the Director of Operations and working closely with the Executive Leadership Team, the postholder will ensure that Board and committee activity is well-organised, compliant, and aligned to the charity’s mission, legal duties, and funding obligations.  The role will oversee the smooth delivery of end-to-end governance administration-supporting agenda planning, high-quality papers, accurate minutes, action tracking, and statutory and policy requirements-while also managing and improving executive support systems, prioritisation, and confidential coordination.

The postholder will help strengthen  governance, operational systems and will provide executive support to the Executive Teams, and planning support for wider organisational activities. Alongside helping to create the structure, assurance, and operational grip that enables leaders and trustees to focus on strategic impact, safeguarding, risk management, and the delivery of safe, effective services.

The successful candidate will make sure that the organisation’s processes and policies are in place, up to date, understood, and used consistently by staff.  If you have experience of supporting a CEO, Board of Trustees and an Executive Leadership Team in streamlining efficiencies and reporting structures we would love to hear from you.

Fundraising Manager

Location: Office-based (London) Salary: £40,000-£45,000 per annum (DOE) Contract: Permanent, full-time (40 hours per week) DBS: Standard level required

The Opportunity

This UK-registered humanitarian charity is committed to breaking cycles of poverty through practical, sustainable and dignified support. Working from the London office, the Fundraising Manager will lead income generation across trusts and foundations, corporate partnerships, individual giving, community fundraising and events, helping to strengthen supporter relationships and grow the donor base.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and deliver an annual fundraising plan to meet income targets and diversify revenue streams.

Identify and pursue new funding opportunities across trusts and foundations, corporates, major donors, individual giving, community fundraising and events.

Produce high-quality funding enquiries and applications, working with finance on budgets and a full cost recovery        approach where appropriate.

Build and steward relationships with funders, corporate partners, major donors and individual supporters, ensuring timely acknowledgements and impact reporting.

Plan and deliver fundraising campaigns, appeals and events, using KPIs and insight to maximise engagement and income.

Maintain accurate records on the CRM (Salesforce), ensuring GDPR compliance and supporting reporting, reconciliation and Gift Aid processes.

The Candidate

Minimum 3 years' experience in charity fundraising, with a proven track record of personally securing significant income (c. £200,000+ per annum).

Demonstrable success securing grants from trusts and foundations, including applications for £10,000+ awards.

Experience developing corporate partnerships and cultivating major donors/HNWIs.

Excellent writing skills with the ability to produce clear, persuasive applications, proposals and supporter communications.

Strong organisation, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines; confident presenting to varied audiences.

Comfortable with data and systems, including CRM use (Salesforce preferred), and a working knowledge of GDPR, Gift Aid and fundraising best practice.
