Family Action & the Role’s Impact: 

We are seeking a Peer Mentoring Coordinator to develop and manage our new LGBTQ+ Peer Mentoring Programme, training and supporting Project Indigo members to become mentors in the local community.

Project Indigo is the LGBTQ+ youth service based at Off Centre at Family Action. It is open to anyone aged 16-25 who identifies as LGBTQ+ or is exploring their sexuality or gender identity. Our weekly youth group is a safe, supportive space for LGBTQ+ young people to meet each other and participate in workshops and activities. In addition to the youth group, Project Indigo offers 1-to-1 support and advice sessions with the Project Lead. The group aims to support young people to build links with the local LGBTQ+ community, build meaningful relationships and get support around issues that are impacting them. Project Indigo maintains a youth-led and person-centred approach, with this role being developed in consultation with our members to support them in accessing training and support to do community-focused work. The Peer Mentoring Coordinator’s role will be to develop a new Peer Mentoring Programme, supporting older Project Indigo members to train as mentors and deliver mentoring sessions with younger LGBTQ+ people in the local community.

Off Centre is a service that provides a range of targeted mental health focused support services to young people aged 16 to 25 who reside/are registered with a City and Hackney GP. These include: individual, counselling and psychotherapy, individual and group art psychotherapy, key-work support, out of hours drop-in service on Thursday evenings; targeted provision for children and young people of African, Caribbean and mixed heritage (ACH); and an Information and Advice provision.

The role

As the Peer Mentoring Coordinator, you will develop and lead Project Indigo’s Peer Mentoring Programme. Central to the role will be understanding young mentors’ needs and goals, and providing high quality supervisory support throughout the training and mentoring process. You will further develop the Mentoring programme, consulting with relevant organisations, liaising with partners, and keeping accurate records to monitor progress for administrative and evaluative purposes.

Your impact

This role will enrich Project Indigo’s holistic offer by providing young people with the opportunity to access training, qualifications and work experience while receiving high quality support tailored to their needs. You will offer sensitive supervisory support to young LGBTQ+ mentors, supporting their diverse need by maintaining an empathetic, intersectional and youth-led approach.

Your skills

You will be a confident communicator with proven experience of working in a supportive role with LGBTQ+ young people and/or evidence of in-depth knowledge of issues relating to LGBTQ+ young people, in particular trans and gender diverse young people.

You will be empathetic and maintain an understanding of the social issues impacting young LGBTQ+ people. You will have excellent organisational skills and be able to manage your time and workload effectively. You will have an understanding of risk management, health and safety issues and the ability in accordance with local and organisational safeguarding policies.

Who we’re looking for

We are looking for an experienced, people-oriented project manager who is excited to help us deliver and scale innovative data programmes. You will work directly with organisations from across the third sector to understand their missions and translate their challenges into well-scoped projects. You will also support teams of volunteer data experts to scope projects and deliver impactful data science solutions.

You don't need to write code or run analysis yourself, but you should be comfortable working alongside technical experts, asking the right questions to scope data projects, and translating between technical and non-technical stakeholders. You'll need to hold conversations with data scientists about what's feasible, help charity partners understand what's possible with their data, and know when to bring in additional technical expertise.

If you don’t have all the experience and skills listed below, please still consider applying. We don’t expect a candidate to have 100% of these, but we do want to know that you have relevant experience and an appetite to learn in other areas.

Essential skills and experience

• Project management: You are a skilled project manager, successfully leading projects involving multiple stakeholders from conception to completion. You have experience managing multiple projects at once and can successfully prioritise and juggle competing demands. You can plan ahead, allocate resources, identify and mitigate risks, and bring in additional expertise as required.
• Scoping and needs assessment: You have experience collaborating with clients/stakeholders to assess their challenges, translate them into project plans, evaluate their feasibility, and create delivery plans.
• Volunteer and/or people management: Experience recruiting, training, coordinating, or managing volunteers or managing people over whom you do not have direct authority (eg. contractors/freelancers). Comfortable leading multi-skilled teams in a remote-first environment, fostering collaboration within newly established groups.
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong active listening skills. You have experience being the main liaison for a project or programme, providing regular updates to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You’re not afraid to ask clarifying questions in areas that are new to you. You are skilled at distilling the key insights or next steps in project meetings to ensure clarity on the big picture and details.

Desirable

• Experience managing or delivering data-related or social tech projects.
• Experience volunteering or working with volunteers.
• Familiarity with CRMs and/or project management software.
• Experience working or volunteering in the UK nonprofit/charity sector.

Working hours and location 

This is a full-time role (35 hours per week); however we will consider part-time options (28 or 32 hours per week) for a strong candidate. Working hours are flexible, but we ask that 75% of working time is within the hours of 10am and 6pm, to facilitate team working and real-time collaboration.

The role requires regular out-of-hours commitments - roughly one weekend per quarter and 2-4 evenings per month for volunteer events. This work is part of, rather than additional to, your hours, and you must take time off in lieu for any extra working hours.

Our organisation is remote-first, and this role is hybrid, with access to London office space on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and quarterly in-person commitments in London. There may be occasional national travel within the UK for other events and conferences, with reasonable expenses covered.

Our Current Vacancy  

We are an outward looking charity with a compelling reputation for delivering professional support services to young people in South West London coupled with the motivation to develop new and innovative responses to young people’s mental health needs. This was particularly tested when the Covid pandemic forced us to quickly pivot all our provision to remote working. The post holder is responsible for leading individual giving and engagement programmes through direct marketing and supporter care. About this role

The Philanthropy Manager will own an assigned portfolio of prospects and donors at five to six figure level and act as the day-to-day relationship manager within that portfolio.

The role plans and delivers cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activity to agreed KPIs, makes timely operational decisions within scope, and escalates risks/opportunities early.

About the role:

This is a hands-on role for someone who loves opening doors, building momentum and turning interest into long-term support. As Corporate Partnerships Officer, you’ll be right at the heart of our growing Fundraising team, actively identifying new corporate partners, starting meaningful conversations and shaping partnerships that genuinely add value. From first approach to signed agreement, you’ll play a key role in bringing businesses on board and inspiring them to stand alongside our work.

You’ll split your time between winning new partnerships and deepening existing ones. That means researching and targeting the right organisations, crafting and delivering engaging pitches, and managing a live pipeline of opportunities. As Head of Data Science & Analytics and Reporting you will play an essential role in helping us achieve this mission to place data and audiences at the core of our decision-making process. You will lead our Data Science, Analytics, and Reporting teams through a large data and technology transformation program within our Marketing, Fundraising and Engagement (MFE) directorate. This will involve providing technical support and leadership across a multidisciplinary team to leverage industry best practices for insights, analytics, and reporting. You will spearhead the transition from legacy systems to a robust, scalable, and future-fit tech stack, and develop a highly engaged and talented team of data professionals. Furthermore, you will be at the forefront of our data-driven journey, playing an influential role in creating and nurturing a strong data culture across MFE and the wider organisation.

What will I be doing? 

• Supporting and leading the Data, Insight & Performance teams to leverage industry best practices in data and technology for insights, analytics, and reporting across the Marketing, Fundraising & Engagement (MFE) directorate. 

• Supporting the Data, Insight & Performance teams in transitioning from legacy systems onto a robust, scalable, and future-fit tech stack. 

• Collaborating closely with the Head of Data Strategy and Delivery, Consumer Insight & Experience, and Audience Strategy & Innovation teams to: 

• Create an agnostic, integrated view of performance centred on the supporter/consumer. 

• Validate opportunities for growth, development, and improvement. 

• Proving leadership and expert guidance on data modelling initiatives while championing and validating demand across MFE. 

• This will involve supporting technical/operational capabilities for scaling and embedding into end-to-end BAU activities. 

• Leading MFE on a journey towards increased automation, ensuring strong data consistency and curation to facilitate self-serve reporting. 

• Supporting the Digital marketing team in enhancing the effectiveness of owned, paid, and earned media. 

• Ensuring repeat requests are identified and codified for automation, and resources focus on impactful value-add insights and deep dive projects. 

• Providing senior technical expertise and guidance across data and modelling initiatives, ensuring adherence to industry best practices and compliance frameworks. 

• Identifying and driving process improvements utilising new tools and techniques. 

• Keeping abreast of new industry trends and developments, supporting team training, development, and trial adoption (including GenAI). 

• Supporting the Data, Insight & Performance Director to enable a step change in data-led ways of working and culture across MFE 

What skills will I need? 

• Senior leadership experience at Head level or above, with a background leading data analysis and modelling functions in large, complex B2C marketing-led organisations with a digital-first approach. 

• Background in technical coding language and data visualisation tools (e.g. SQL, Python, Snowflake, PowerBI, Databricks, GA) and experience implementing best practices, guidance, and standards. 

• Experience using statistical analysis to understand and drive value from consumer behaviour (including setting up supervised & unsupervised learning models, data cleaning, data analytics, feature creation, model selection, performance metrics, and visualisations). 

• Solid grounding in the principles and application of MLOps (e.g., Snowpark, MLFlow, Github) with experience in productionising and managing models. 

• A successful track record of leading and developing high performing data insight teams (including managing, coaching, recruiting, and developing talent). 

• Strong skills in managing, influencing, and communicating with stakeholders at all levels (including senior leadership). This includes: 

• Demonstrated credibility in partnering and collaborating cross-functionally, to implement data strategy in large, complex, matrixed organisations. 

• A proven track record of leading and influencing teams in dynamic, changing environments. 

• The ability to build efficient and scalable organisational structures, processes, and methodologies for data teams. 

• The ability to clearly and simply convey expertise and insight, engaging and empowering others to build their knowledge. 

• An outward-looking and strategic approach, capable of bringing external trends and developments into the organisation to drive innovation and growth.
