Key Responsibilities:

New Internationalist is seeking an experienced, proactive, creative, and strategic Marketing Manager to lead our income growth efforts during a critical stage in our organisation’s growth and development. You will be responsible for delivering a bold, data-informed marketing strategy designed to increase UK and international magazine subscriptions in print and digital, launch a new membership product, and drive retention across all income channels.

• Campaign Development & Delivery: Plan and execute marketing and sales campaigns across multiple channels (email, social, web, events) to meet set acquisition and retention targets
• Retention and Customer Experience: Work closely with internal teams to improve retention rates and maximise the impact of customer journey touch points.
• Outreach and profile raising: Identify and target new audiences for both subscriptions and news-stand sales, creating a strategy to convert them to subscribers and regular buyers.
• Product Development: Lead the development and launch of a new membership product including stakeholder consultation, light market research, A/B testing, and pricing refinement.
• Community Engagement: Activate and upsell existing subscribers and supporters through tailored messaging, events, and cross-channel promotions.

The Marketing Manager will become a member of the NI Co-operative and will be appointed as a Director of New Internationalist Publications Ltd (NIP - the company that runs NI’s day-to-day business in a co-operative fashion), following a period of probation of 6 months.

All co-operative members are directly responsible to the NI co-operative and play an integral part in its business. They report to their teams on general work matters.

Whether we’re hosting our annual conference for 300 teachers and advisors in the UK, delivering networking events for international school counselors across the world, or bringing together professionals from across the university and employer sectors to provide them with networking opportunities and unique insights into our student audience, we strive to make our events as engaging and useful as possible.

All events at Unifrog are created to best support our students, teachers and advisors, and our university and employer partners at key stages of the academic year: 

• In-person conferences give UK teachers and advisors the chance to connect with top universities and employers, keep up-to-date with the latest in careers education, and network with the Unifrog team.

• International networking events take place in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia to facilitate one-on-one conversations between university representatives and international school counselors, giving counselors the valuable opportunity to get tailored advice and guidance relevant to them and their students. 

• We also run loads of virtual events throughout the year for all our different audiences, including large scale virtual university and apprenticeship fairs for students.

What you’ll do

As Events Assistant, you’ll play a key role in supporting the team to make sure all our events are delivered to the highest standard. You’ll be working closely alongside our Head of Events and Events Leads as part of our growing Marketing team to make sure all our events help students to make informed decisions about their next steps. 

In-person events:

• Work alongside the Event Lead, the main point of contact for Unifrog’s in-person conferences and events, to support the planning and delivery of these events and make sure they’re a success.

• Play a key role on the day - lead on the set up and pack down of events and be an expert on the event logistics, on hand to support attendees, the Event Lead, and the rest of the Unifrog team.

• Manage the registration desk and welcome attendees as they arrive, giving them a fantastic first impression of the event and helping them with any questions they may have. 

• Support with research and planning future events, including conducting initial site visits.

• Support with writing and sending conversion and follow-up emails for events.

• Draw on your own experiences to make sure that all our events are relevant and provide value to our different audiences.

Virtual events:

• Work alongside the Event Lead, the main point of contact for Unifrog’s webinar series and university fairs, to support the planning and delivery of these events.

• Ensure the smooth running of our university fairs. Become an expert user of the iVent platform – send reminders of session start times, spark conversations on the chat function, and solve any technical issues.

• Act as a host for some of our events – run live sessions, field questions from participants, and facilitate discussions between our expert panelists.

External conferences:

• Provide ad hoc support with the logistics of our conference equipment and make sure equipment and materials are delivered to external conferences and returned to the office in time.

Other responsibilities:

• Support with our events inbox to make sure all emails are responded to in a friendly and professional manner within 24 hours (excluding weekends and holidays). 

• Develop an in-depth understanding of our different audiences. 

• Support the wider Marketing and Events team with ad-hoc requests.

A prestigious and respected membership body representing healthcare professionals across the UK, is seeking an Executive Director of Finance and Operations to join their team on a long-term fixed-term-contract basis (24 months).

• Staff management of 3 direct reports and a wider team across finance and HR

About You

You will be a qualified accountant with experience operating at Director of Finance level. 

You may have also overseen non-finance directorates, though candidates with extensive finance-only experience who can demonstrate an ability to oversee non-finance areas are encouraged to apply

What’s in it for you?

Overview:

The impacts of climate change on our food system are escalating, affecting food prices and production and food and farming are themselves a major source of greenhouse gas emissions. ECIU has generated multiple analyses of these issues over the past few years which have been used by a broad range of stakeholders and covered extensively by the media.

We are now seeking to grow our team in this space. These roles are an exciting opportunity to combine your analytical and communication skills to generate reports and commentary that expands the evidence base while grabbing the attention of a range of stakeholders including journalists. Your work will help to ensure a better informed debate on the interactions between food, farming and climate change, covering emissions, resilience and adaptation to, for example, climate-induced food price shocks. 

The work will include different types of foods, different farming from livestock to arable and both UK and international agriculture. You will be liaising with expert stakeholder groups and academics. Health will be a key theme in the work. The postholders will communicate findings to stakeholders including journalists and MPs.

You will manage your own programme of work, supported by a wider team of analytical and communication experts.

The Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit (ECIU) is a non-profit organisation that supports informed debate on energy and climate change issues in the UK. We provide independent analysis and accessible briefings to the media and other stakeholders to improve understanding of climate-related topics and contribute to evidence-based discussions. Our work covers a range of issues including land use, transport, the power sector, and heating and buildings, with a focus on the UK but with international work too.

This is a unique opportunity to inform the debate on one of the most pressing and less explored areas of climate change.

Role and responsibilities:

·Analyse how climate change is affecting UK food and farming and vice versa, using various sources and data; present findings clearly in reports, briefings, press releases and social media content.

·Monitor and analyse emerging political and media debate around climate change and UK food and farming, including misinformation.

·Provide fast turnaround analysis of breaking developments, synthesising findings into accessible and impactful outputs for media and other stakeholders.

·Stay updated on climate and energy policy, particularly how it relates to the UK’s food system.

·Manage your own programme of work, including strategic planning around key moments, identifying risks and opportunities to support well informed discussion and working to effectively inform coverage of these topics.

·Collaborate with colleagues across programmes to develop joined up, multi-channel communications outputs.

·Work closely with external partners, including academics as well as attending external meetings, running internal meetings, conducting quarterly reviews and regular reporting.

·Develop and maintain a network of stakeholders in the climate, food and health space, including academics and NGOs.
