Chief Executive

We’re seeking a senior leader with a proven track record in securing major partnerships, grants, or donations, ideally from a charity, foundation, or similar organisation. You’ll have experience across the creative, youth, education, or cultural sectors, with expertise in funding strategy, impact measurement, and working confidently with government. A key priority will be accelerating income growth by building strong, strategic relationships with funders, policymakers, and philanthropists.

Key responsibilities include:

· Lead and evolve the charity’s strategy, ensuring it reflects the organisation’s vision and values.

Purpose of the Role

The main purpose of the role is to carry out and assist in the administration and day to day running of the ESU’s educational programmes, communicating with internal and external stakeholders, and managing delivery staff to ensure collective goals and objectives are reached.

• Support with the smooth running and delivery of ESU Education’s domestic programmes. 
• Be the first respondent to incoming calls and emails from educators, ESU partners and the general public, providing timely and professional responses to all enquiries. 
• Manage ESU spreadsheets and data across various Excel and our CRM system to ensure clean and accurate data collection and collation. 
• As needed, support with the development and improvement of education resources 
• Liaise with the ESU’s Accounts Department regarding invoicing, delivery staff pay and expenses.

• To support the delivery of workshops in schools, undertaking training to ensure delivery and teaching matches ESU standards.

The Role: 

We are recruiting for one IPS Employment Specialist role within our Islington IPS Service. This position will be based within the North London NHS Foundation Trust mental health services in the borough of Islington.

As an IPS Employment Specialist, you’ll play an important role in supporting people with lived mental health experience on their recovery journey by supporting them back into paid employment. This is an opportunity to offer ongoing support, to motivate and provide people with hope, while developing the tools and skills required to recover - ultimately transforming their lives.

About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Finance & Operations, the Programme Finance Manager will be responsible for the financial management, reporting and control of a substantial portfolio of grant-funded programmes. The Job

We are looking for a passionate and driven person who ideally has previous experience and skills working as an Instructor within an Assistance Dog organisation, who has worked with clients and partnerships. The role includes supporting both clients who have had a MDD dog placed with them and also our own dog applicants with their puppies and young dogs to ensure they receive the highest standard of socialisation and early training in terms of obedience, public access and developing an alert to the applicant’s condition, with the aim to reach an accreditable assistance dog partnership status. It is also will include carrying out client specific and odour training for MDD own dogs, placing these dogs with their new clients and looking after a number of established partnerships. This role would suit somebody residing in the central belt of Scotland, between Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Duties that encompass the role of an Instructor include:

• Be the first point of contact for the allocated partnerships in your area, covering all areas of Scotland. To provide guidance and instruction to applicants who have applied to the charity to have their own dogs considered for the training programme guidance and instruction on handling, behaviour and obedience and odour training as well as newly placed partnerships.
• Alongside the Instructing team, to run puppy classes, public access training, recall sessions in small groups for applicant own dogs that are in line with the charity’s quality standards and in accordance with timescales and targets. 
• To also carry out support visits and home interviews for applicants and clients that have been allocated to you.  
• Regularly monitor progress of the puppies and partnerships in training in your area and provide detailed, evidenced feedback to Instructor Manager and Head of Assistance Dog Programme.
• To carry out client specific training with any MDD owned dogs that have been matched, including the required odour scent training.
• Instructing, guiding and supporting new assistance dog clients in managing and handling a Medical Alert Assistance Dog effectively, via pre training, placement training and aftercare visits.
• Supporting partnerships in training in successfully reaching an accreditation standard and in maintaining this
• standard throughout the life of the partnership.
• To support a number of established partnerships in the form of aftercare, refresher training and yearly re-accreditations, assisting further afield on occasions as required.

Responsibilities

• To escalate issues and problems to the Instructor Manager as appropriate.
• To assist the Dog Supply Team with carrying out scent assessments on any MDD dogs in socialising as and when required with the support of the Instructor Manager and rest of the Instructing Team.
• To plan, organise and deliver practical and theoretical training to clients, meeting their individual needs in line with agreed standards to include areas such as dog welfare, appropriate handling, commanding and overall management. This will involve working with the parents as Team Leader and child as Client and working with adult clients.
• Assess the team dynamics of the family & balancing the needs of all family members as well as those of the dog.
• Assess the individuals preferred learning style and amending as relevant to aid a client.
• To accompany the client into all regular environments that they will take the dog to, ensuring the dog behaves in an acceptable manner and that the client and others are aware and clear in terms of where they dog should reside and behave for eg public transport, place of work. To complete a check list of environments for any applicant own dogs in training who are on the programme to be assessed within.
• To support and advise clients in transferring the odour training from pot training and recognising alerting behaviours to establish real life alerting.
• To monitor the correct and false alerting percentages of allocated partnerships via data analysis, advising where necessary until the correct alerting levels are achieved.
• To complete comprehensive reports and paperwork for any time spent with applicants or partnerships in training or established. Maintain accurate records by providing verbal and written information with agreed timescales about clients, dogs, applicants and apprentices as appropriate.
• To work alongside allocated partnerships with the aim of the partnership reaching an accredited standard and feeding back to the Instructor Manager and Assistance Dog Programme Manager if there are any concerns that the accreditation cannot be achieved.
• To provide clients with appropriate aftercare services at regular intervals in their own homes in the form of annual visits, support visits or at refresher workshops run at the Centre to agreed standards.  This will include continual re-assessment of the dynamics of family and dog, formulating and training on appropriate solutions, as well as offering additional dog training advice.
• To deliver handling days as part of an applicant’s pre training to include ‘Introduction to Assistance Dog’ ‘Advanced Handling’ and Family Handling.
• To scent train and seizure proof advanced dogs in preparation to be partnered with an adult or child client and ensure that applicant own dogs have received this at the earliest opportunity.
• To maintain the ongoing public access training with any advanced dog in scent training that has been allocated to them.
• To provide local support to the growing puppy socialisation scheme, based in and around Perth.
• To provide support to the Charity’s public relations and fundraising functions as required, specifically in your area.
• To act as the ‘contact’ person for the assistance dog programme in relation to training policy procedures with clients and their families, other professional service providers and members of the public.  This will include on-going research and development of the project.
• To liaise with and provide support for Volunteers who may operate as part of the aftercare programme provided by the charity.
• To ensure all partnerships are in line with the ADUK regulations with regards to behaviour, obedience and welfare and branding.

Duties and key responsibilities

Financial Administration and Bookkeeping

• Responsibility for maintaining all financial records and data accurately and within agreed systems, to include:Maintaining up-to-date records in Sage 50.
• Importing bank receipts into Sage from Raiser’s Edge NXT.
• Processing purchase invoices, card transactions, and payments, ensuring correct coding to nominal and departmental ledgers.
• Maintaining payment records and reconciling grant payments within Sage 50 and grant management software.

Our debating, public speaking and cultural exchange programmes aim to embed sustainable cultures of oracy in schools, and empower young people to engage with the world, to speak more confidently and to listen to and understand different points of view.  With the new Ofsted Framework and the Curriculum and Assessment Review confirming the importance of great oracy education, the need has never been greater for the ESU’s educational offers. 

Purpose of this role. 

This role is central to driving our work forward. You will play a key part in ensuring the next generation gains essential oracy skills by managing and delivering the sales of the English-Speaking Union’s educational products. These include our signature ‘Discover Your Voice’ student oracy workshops and our Teacher Oracy CPD sessions for schools and other educational settings in England and Wales, with potential to expand to international schools. 

You will lead the full sales process from start to finish. This includes generating leads, responding to enquiries, securing bookings and overseeing the delivery of workshops and training. You will be proactive, motivated and confident working with a high degree of initiative. Working closely with the Director of Education, you will help build an effective sales operation that ensures thousands of young people and teachers benefit from high-quality oracy opportunities. 

About the role and responsibilities 

We are looking for someone who can: 

• Own the lifecycle of sales of our education products, building positive relationships to ensure repeat business 

• Collaborate with the ESU Marketing Team and Director of Education to develop the messaging and assets needed to promote our offers 

• Respond to and follow-up on leads and warm conversations to move prospects through the sales pipeline

• Implement plans designed to generate leads of sales to schools (secondary and primary), Multi-Academy Trusts (MATs), and other partners

• Manage the delivery of the workshops by being point of contact for Lead Teachers, appointing freelance Oracy Leaders to deliver the work and providing communication, support and resources as necessary 

• Build the ESU network, connecting with teachers and MAT contacts to generate sales. This includes proactive outreach to new schools and MATs for new business, as well as working with existing clients.

• Use Salesforce to manage all programme delivery including tracking all account communication, reporting on sales pipelines including new business and renewals

• Devise the sales strategies and execute the plans to generate leads and interest from international schools 

• Collect data for monitoring (student surveys; case studies; teacher surveys) 

• Work with our pool of delivery staff (Oracy Leaders). This would include clear communications before and after workshop delivery, booking staff onto workshops, liaising with finance and HR when necessary.

Our client provides stability, encouragement and support to people across South East London who are experiencing homelessness. The charity provides a range of services from their Gateway Centre in Deptford, supporting their clients to learn new skills, find work and rebuild positive social networks. They are now recruiting for a Female Intervention Worker to oversee a small caseload of female service users with complex needs.

Working as part of a small, tight-knit team, you will provide triage, assessment and holistic progression planning for service users, identifying and addressing their immediate housing situation as well as wider social, health and wellbeing issues with the ultimate aim of facilitating a pathway out of homelessness. As well as overseeing the Women’s Sanctuary this role focuses on holding a small caseload of women experiencing homelessness and overlapping challenges such as sex work, DA, addiction, trauma or mental ill health. You will build trusting relationships with individuals using and working within the service, and will use a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach to deliver flexible, responsive interventions.

Our partner is seeking an experienced fund accounting consultant to deliver a short, fixed-scope diagnostic review following a recent finance system migration. The focus of this contract is to identify and triage discrepancies in fund balances ahead of an upcoming statutory audit.

This is a standalone Phase 1 engagement, with a clear written diagnostic as the primary output. Any follow-on support would be subject to findings and separately agreed.

Responsibilities

• Carry out a focused diagnostic review of fund balances following a finance system migration.
• Analyse discrepancies between legacy system balances, current system balances, and supporting fund schedules.
• Review available historical fund documentation and reporting to assess consistency and data integrity.
• Assess the treatment of opening balances and brought-forward positions at fund level.
• Identify whether issues are primarily data-driven, configuration-related, or reporting logic-related.
• Evaluate audit and governance risks and the proportionality of potential remediation options.
• Recommend a defensible historical cut-off for fund balances.
• Produce a concise written diagnostic note outlining findings, risks, assumptions, and recommended next steps.

Requirements

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
• Strong experience in charity or NGO fund accounting, including restricted and designated funds.
• Practical experience of finance system migrations and post-migration troubleshooting.
• Working knowledge of NetSuite, particularly fund or donor dimensions and reporting.

Our partner is working towards a new strategy launching in 2027 and is seeking external support to review its business and operating model. The organisation is operating in a challenging funding environment, with volatile grant income and a concentrated, ageing donor base, and wants to ensure its future model is financially sustainable, affordable, and resilient.

The review will combine an assessment of income sustainability, cost recovery, and organisational structure. Alongside continued efforts to diversify donor income, they are exploring opportunities for growth and efficiency, including potential changes to their operating model and the feasibility of moving to a dual-entity structure. The consultancy will support senior leadership and trustees to make evidence-based decisions during this transition.

Indicative scope of support includes:

• Reviewing the organisation’s current business model, income profile and cost base, identifying gaps, risks and opportunities for improved financial sustainability.
• Assessing the potential of existing and emerging income streams, the investment required to grow them, and modelling future income scenarios over the medium term.
• Supporting improvements to cost recovery, including benchmarking against peer organisations, refreshing cost recovery policies, and considering adjustments to recovery rates while remaining competitive with donors.

• A senior finance leader (preferably qualified accountant) with expereince supporting a complex international charity through a period of transition, including reviewing and redesigning operating models.
• Experience in multi-year financial planning, scenario modelling, cost reduction and cash management.
