London Community Foundation exist to improve the lives of the most disadvantaged people in London by working with donors to invest in small, local charities and community groups.

We are now seeking a Finance Director to play a pivotal role in shaping our future, strengthening our financial sustainability, supporting our governance, and enabling us to deliver greater impact for London’s communities.

The role

As Finance Director, you will sit at the heart of decision-making within a purpose-driven organisation, influencing strategy, supporting the Board, guiding investment decisions and ensuring that resources are directed where they matter most.

As a key member of the Senior Management Team, working closely with the CEO, Board, and committees to ensure strong financial leadership, governance, and long-term sustainability.

You will:

· Lead financial strategy, planning, and performance across the organisation

· Provide clear, accessible financial insight to support decision-making at Board and executive level

· Oversee financial control, reporting, audit, and compliance (including SORP)

· Support stewardship of investments and endowment funds

· Lead risk, assurance, and governance processes, including engagement with the Finance, Risk & Resources Committee

· Act as Company Secretary, ensuring robust governance and regulatory compliance

· Oversee contracts, supply chain, and value-for-money across the organisation

· Provide strategic oversight of systems, data, and technology, including line management of the Technology Manager

· Lead and develop a high-performing finance team

This is a broad and influential role, combining strategic leadership with hands-on delivery, well-suited to someone who enjoys working across organisational boundaries and shaping how an organisation operates.

 

About you

You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with experience operating at a senior level and advising Boards and executive teams.

You will bring:

· A track record of leading financial strategy, planning, and organisational performance

· Strong experience in governance, risk, and compliance within complex environments

· Confidence working with Boards, committees, and senior stakeholders

· The ability to translate financial information into clear, actionable insight

· Experience leading teams and developing people

· An understanding of systems, data, and organisational infrastructure

· A commitment to inclusive leadership and equity

Experience in grant-making, philanthropy, or endowment management is welcome, but not essential.

About the role

As an Events Coordinator at the British Museum, you will play a central role in delivering exceptional events within one of the world's most iconic cultural institutions. The Counselling and Outreach Coordinator role is key to SEL Mind's exciting new counselling service for Black residents of Southwark, delivered as part of the wider Southwark Wellbeing Hub. This full-time role will shape the Wellbeing Hub's provision to the Black community, expanding equitable access to culturally-appropriate support. 

As Coordinator, you will provide initial clinical assessments to prospective service users and coordinate a small pool of Trainee Counsellors, expanding future access to Black-led counselling. You'll line manage an Administrator who is responsible for scheduling and other practical elements of the service. You'll also work closely in partnership with community organisations to ensure relevant, de-colonial approaches, including maintaining a delivery partnership with Black Psychotherapy.

The main working site is a community centre in SE5, and the community outreach work involves regular travel across the borough. You will play a vital role in building community trust, ensuring that we are creating routes into the service and continually seeking and implementing feedback.

We are seeking a qualified therapist who is passionate about improving Black people's access to early mental health support. Relationships and partnership working is vital, so you should be able to work independently but collaboratively, to be proactive and show initiative. 

The role will involve:

• Undertaking skilled assessments of client needs and risks, taking into account the nature and complexity of presenting needs and suitability for short-term therapeutic work
• Recruiting and training volunteer Counsellors, ensuring trauma-informed work integrating spirituality and cultural values, using creative therapeutic modalities, and maintaining therapeutic relationships that honour diverse healing approaches
• Maintaining a live engagement strategy and actively reaching out with physical presence to grassroots organisations, faith groups, community centres, cultural associations, and spaces for people experiencing difficult situations including e.g. food banks and advice/advocacy organisations
• Contributing to the development and continuous improvement of the service, bringing recommendations to support the SWH's inclusivity and best practice

As a team player, you will work with colleagues across Private Partnerships and Philanthropy (PPH), Communications and UNHCR global.

Passionate about the refugee cause and UNHCR’s contribution, you will have prior experience of writing for philanthropic audiences.

This role is integral to the development of the Private Partnerships and Philanthropy (PPH) programme. You will work collaboratively across the PPH team and with international colleagues drawing on a diverse range of content to develop high quality compelling assets which convey our organisational story and priority needs. Role Responsibilities  

The role operates primarily as an in-house writing and strategic support function, focused on the organisation’s highest-level donors and priority audiences.

Key responsibilities include:

• Taking the lead on drafting and delivering a bi-annually Philanthropy newsletter for existing donors and selected prospects, strengthening stewardship and positioning UNHCR’s philanthropic offer.
• Supporting the cultivation and stewardship of priority relationships through the development of bespoke, high-quality and strategically aligned concept notes, proposals, cases for support, business cases, and stewardship/impact reports for Corporate partners, Major Donors, Trusts and Philanthropists.
• Producing high value external communications for philanthropists & corporate partners, including CEO comms and timely email updates sharing relevant news and insights.
• Acting as a trusted internal service, working with colleagues to shape clear, consistent, and donor-focused narratives
• Developing trusted relationships with internal stakeholders across Partnerships & Philanthropy and relevant international colleagues to ensure messaging is accurate, aligned consistent, and reflects the supporter’s motivations and interests.
• Remaining flexible and responsive to emergency situations, supporting the development of targeted materials for priority audiences as required.
• Maintaining a bank of high quality, ready-to-use fundraising and stewardship materials to enable rapid response to new opportunities, including summaries of core thematic areas and flagship initiatives.

Key details

What we are looking for:

Job Title: Senior Philanthropy Officer

We’re looking for a confident, capable fundraiser to play a key role in major-gift fundraising – helping to secure transformational support from high-net-worth individuals.

You’ll manage your own portfolio of prospects and donors, contributing across the full fundraising cycle: prospecting, cultivation, making direct asks, closing and stewardship. Alongside this, you’ll support the development of relationships with wealth advisers to generate referral leads, while also prospecting independently for major gifts.

The ideal candidate will be excited to build networks of wealth managers, private-client teams and other advisers to HNWIs, and to convert adviser introductions into committed support. You’ll complement this with proactive outreach to identify and engage new major donors beyond existing referral channels.

To succeed, you’ll develop strong fluency across three distinct fundraising pitches: a business case for advisers; an impact case to persuade donors to support our portfolio charities; and a systems-change case to win backing for GRP’s operating costs (salaries, office costs, etc) to keep the charity running fee-free.

You’ll be comfortable making direct asks for funding, ideally with experience of securing significant gifts or multi-year commitments. You’ll be hands-on in day-to-day fundraising activity and able to manage multiple relationships and priorities effectively.

Who are we?

Myaware is the only charity in the UK dedicated solely to the care and support of people affected by myasthenia. 

We are working hard to raise awareness of myasthenia, as it is a little-known condition. We provide support for people with myasthenia and their families, whilst offering advice and tips for living with the condition. 

We also fund the research that brings us closer to finding a cure as well as funding specialists nurses and advisors. 

Members of myaware have full access to a wide range of support services and events including our specialist  welfare rights advisor. 

Myaware supports people with myasthenia and their families.  We campaign for better medical services for people with myasthenia and work to inform medical professionals. 

The myasthenias are a group of neuromuscular conditions. They are rare but also manageable and can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender or nationality. Myasthenia gravis, ocular myasthenia and Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome are autoimmune conditions whereas congenital myasthenic syndrome is caused by an inherited genetic fault. It is thought that there are approximately 20,000 people currently living with myasthenia in the UK.
