About the Role
As an Undercover Investigator with the Animal Welfare Investigations Project (AWIP), you will work as part of a dedicated and highly skilled investigations team committed to disrupting organised animal cruelty and protecting animals worldwide.
You’ll be tasked with carrying out covert, intelligence-led operations aligned with AWIP’s Strategic Plan — targeting organised, serious, and complex cruelty within industries that use animals for human consumption.
Assignments will vary from short-term deployments to multi-month undercover placements within agricultural or associated sectors. You may also support other high-priority investigations, such as deploying covert surveillance equipment to assist ongoing animal fighting, wildlife crime, or puppy farming cases.
This work demands resilience, adaptability, and absolute discretion. You’ll operate in challenging environments, often under cover, gathering high-quality intelligence and evidence to support enforcement action and criminal prosecutions.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct covert investigations and gather evidential material in line with AWIP’s operational protocols and evidentiary standards.

Essential Requirements

The Events & Enterprises Assistant will be expected to work within the diverse and inclusive ethos of Southwark Cathedral. They should be able to be flexible and creative in maximising the opportunities for commercial income alongside the worshipping and community life of the Cathedral. Role Overview
The Events & Enterprises Assistant is an exciting role offering both administrative and practical support to the Cathedral and its trading company Southwark Cathedral Enterprises Limited (SCEL). The post-holder will provide key administrative support to the COO, who is Company Secretary of SCEL, as well as giving broad practical support to the Head of Events to help deliver the special events and commercial meeting-room business.
The post-holder will provide support to the Head of Events in the delivery of a colourful programme of special events in the Cathedral space. Each year we hold a number of private parties, dinners and fundraising events as well as concerts, memorial events and carol services. The Head of Events holds the responsibility for converting special event enquiries into confirmed visits, relationship management and this post will share event management ‘on the day’, to ensure the smooth and safe delivery of often complex largescale events. Most often working one year ahead of the event, the post-holder will provide administrative and operational support for preparations and the delivery of the events by completion of operational notes, RAMS or similar.
Additionally, the Events & Enterprises Assistant will be responsible for the effective day- to-day management of commercial bookings for the Cathedral’s meeting rooms. Our conference business, comprising three main meeting rooms of varying sizes, has a wide client base drawn from the commercial, government, charity and national health sectors and many of the bookings are repeat business. The meeting rooms have an excellent reputation and are popular with clients and for managing the clients’ experience from initial enquiry to final invoice. The post-holder will provide a welcome to clients on arrival, 3 ensuring that their room, IT and catering specifications have been met and manage their requirements during their stay.
They will also work closely with the Marketing & Communications Manager on communications campaigns which are relevant to the Cathedral’s conference and special events business activity.
The post-holder will support the work of the Board of Enterprises by organising the annual schedule of Board meetings – booking meeting rooms, setting up technology and refreshments on the day, attending and minuting meetings and acting as a point of contact for members of the Board. They will also support the Cathedral’s COO in their role as Company Secretary of SCEL - assisting them with correspondence, meeting arrangements, collation of papers and drafting reports for meetings and liaising where necessary with the finance team.

In this role, the individual will manage a caseload of clients requiring early intervention or preventative mental health support, delivering group activities and co-produced programmes that empower service users to achieve their goals. They will clearly communicate the service's aims, objectives, and pathways to ensure users can fully participate and collaborate in their own support. The role involves supporting service users in engaging with various community professionals, including mental health teams, social workers, housing providers, health professionals, and Job Centre Plus. They will work flexibly within a team to ensure service coverage and meet contractual obligations, while also developing and encouraging participation in peer support networks and community-based initiatives. Active monitoring of the health, wellbeing, safety, and security of the service and its users is essential, ensuring all concerns are promptly addressed in line with procedures. The role also includes participating in core service functions, supporting colleagues, and using initiative to complete tasks as they arise. Timely and accurate administration is required, with a strong emphasis on maintaining confidentiality. The individual will also be responsible for ensuring effective and timely referrals, assessments, and service reviews, and will regularly engage in supervision, appraisals, and reviews to support continuous development.

The candidate will have demonstrable experience working with individuals who have experienced mental health challenges and/or dual diagnosis issues, supported by a solid understanding of relevant mental health legislation, safeguarding practices, and recovery principles. They will possess in-depth knowledge of mental health conditions and the ability to provide person-centred support with dignity and respect, while communicating effectively and sensitively. The candidate should be skilled in risk assessment and case management, with experience working alongside statutory services and building partnerships with voluntary and community sector organisations. They will have a track record of delivering value-added initiatives such as events, groups, and volunteer or student placements, and be confident representing the organisation at external events, including delivering presentations to stakeholders and commissioners. Strong time management, prioritisation, and communication skills are essential, alongside the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team, including overseeing the induction of new peer staff and volunteers. Proficiency in IT, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and internet use, as well as good literacy and numeracy skills, are required. The candidate will also have sound knowledge of local mental health and wellbeing services, recovery tools, and the ability to respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns. They should be able to remain dynamic and effective under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

About the role
We are seeking to recruit an advocate for adults and young people (17+) with learning disabilities, who will:
- Deliver 1-1 advocacy casework on a broad range of issues that enables people with learning disabilities to express their views and wishes, understand their rights and options, communicate with professionals and address issues they face.
- Coordinate Speak Out’s Drop-in advocacy service, providing time limited 1-1 advocacy within drop-in sessions.
- Develop peer advocacy at drop-in sessions.
About you
The successful candidate will need excellent communication and organisational skills. They will be able to manage a complex workload and work independently within a framework of supervision. Experience of advocacy or work with vulnerable clients is essential. Experience of working with people with learning disabilities and knowledge of learning disability services is an advantage. A full induction and training will be provided as well as ongoing peer mentoring and support. It would be desirable for the successful candidate to hold the national qualification in independent advocacy, however this can be undertaken once in post.

Engagement Coordinator
Brighton and Hove Speak Out is a dynamic local advocacy charity. We support people with learning disabilities to have a voice and choice and control over their lives through providing a range of advocacy services and community projects.
We are seeking to appoint a part time Advocacy and Engagement Coordinator to deliver a programme of engagement and consultation activity. The post holder will support people with learning disabilities to have their say about local services, share their experience about how support and services impact on their lives and make recommendaitions for improvements.
The role involves organising outreach and consultation on different issues. The post holder will support a group of self-advocates (the Link Group) to take part in planning, running and reporting to the Learning Disability Partnership Board.
The Post Holder will also support health advocacy, training and awareness raising at Speak Out. They will support the ‘Thumbs Up' campaign led by a group of Speak Out members.
About you
