About the team

The Philanthropy Team raises income for Impetus and for Impetus partner charities. The team consists of 15 staff. Impetus has an annual income of c.£11 million which we are looking to grow significantly within the next few years. The team is led by two Directors of Philanthropy and Partnerships. 

The Philanthropy Team works with major donors, corporates and grant making trusts, as well as collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to ensure we make a compelling case to generate new financial commitments and wider support for our work. The team also deliver a high-quality engagement programme of volunteering and pro bono for Impetus’s corporate supporters.   

Impetus is driven by a shared belief in tackling the barriers that hold back young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in education and employment. Alongside investing extensive financial and non-financial support in our charity partners through our Investment Team we also seek to influence decision makers to design and implement evidence led policy and direct new resources to get young people the support they need through our Public Affairs team. About this role

The Development Director (Philanthropy) provides strategic leadership across Impetus’ philanthropy and stewardship portfolio, with responsibility for relationship management, renewal, growth and selected new business activity. The postholder will work with high-value funders, including corporate partners, trusts and foundations, and high-net-worth individuals.

In 25/26, the Philanthropy and Partnerships team generated £11m in philanthropic income, alongside £2.8m in pro bono contributions. The Development Director will play a key role in delivering Impetus’ growth ambitions, supporting the increase in philanthropic income to £14m by 2029. 

Working closely with the Directors of Philanthropy and Partnerships, the role will translate the fundraising strategy into clear stewardship, renewal, relationship-growth and selected new business plans, ensuring strong donor retention, high-quality engagement and sustainable growth in high-value income.

Working closely with the Director of Philanthropy and Partnerships, the postholder will oversee the donor lifecycle across the philanthropy portfolio, with particular focus on strategic stewardship, renewal, relationship growth and the effective transition of selected prospects into long-term donor relationships. They will personally lead and support significant six and seven-figure donor relationships and selected funding opportunities, while working with colleagues to ensure the philanthropy pipeline, stewardship plans and account management disciplines are strong.

Working collaboratively across the Philanthropy and Partnerships team and with colleagues across the organisation, the Development Director will ensure a joined-up approach to donor stewardship, renewal, relationship growth and selected donor acquisition, maximising income, partnership value and long-term impact within the agreed fundraising strategy.

Key responsibilities

Strategic Relationship Management & Growth

• Own and oversee strategically significant donor and partner relationships at six and seven-figure levels, ensuring high levels of retention, satisfaction, trust, income growth and long-term value.
• Set and embed best practice stewardship standards, ensuring donors receive timely, consistent, high-quality and relevant engagement and communications throughout their relationship with Impetus.
• Work closely with the wider team to ensure a smooth transition between new business, and long-term stewardship.
• Ensure account plans for priority donors and partners include clear renewal and growth pathways; engagement and risk-management plans.
• Act as senior relationship owner where required, modelling strong stewardship and coaching the Head of Philanthropy and other colleagues to navigate complex or sensitive relationships.

New Business: Pipeline & Conversion 

• Personally lead on select six and seven-figure level priority prospects and strategic funding opportunities, managing the full fundraising cycle from qualification to close.
• Work with trustees, senior volunteers and networks to support warm introductions, relationship development and follow-up, in line with agreed new business and stewardship priorities.
• Work with colleagues to translate Impetus’ impact, evidence base and venture philanthropy model into compelling propositions for donors, prospects and priority audiences.

Performance and KPI Reporting

• Accountable for ensuring effective implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of fundraising performance frameworks, KPIs and reporting disciplines.
• Use performance data and insight to improve team effectiveness, inform portfolio planning and resource recommendations, and identify opportunities for retention, renewal and growth.
• Oversee philanthropy portfolio data quality, reporting and forecasting, ensuring robust systems and processes.
• Ensure robust systems, processes and performance disciplines are in place to support delivery of agreed philanthropy portfolio objectives and wider fundraising goals.
• Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and evidence-led decision-making across the philanthropy portfolio and direct team.

Donor Communications

• Provide strategic oversight of donor communications for the philanthropy portfolio, ensuring messaging is clear, compelling, timely and aligned to Impetus’ voice, values and evidence base.
• Work with Communications and Philanthropy colleagues to design and continuously improve philanthropic communications, including cases for support, proposals, pitches, stewardship materials and donor updates.

Leadership and Team Performance

• Line manage and develop the Head of Philanthropy, providing direction, coaching and performance oversight within agreed strategy and priorities.
• Develop the Head of Philanthropy as the operational lead for stewardship, ensuring capability, succession and high performance across their team.
• Set clear objectives and success measures for stewardship, renewal, relationship growth and portfolio delivery, aligned to Impetus’ wider income strategy.
• Build and sustain an inclusive, evidence-led and high-performing culture across the philanthropy portfolio, balancing pace and ambition with quality, learning and collaboration.
• Build fundraising and stewardship capability across the team through coaching and consistent, fair and high-quality performance management, including objective-setting, feedback and development planning.

Pro Bono, Events, Volunteering & Partnership Value

• Ensure engagement opportunities, including volunteering, pro bono and events, strengthen donor relationships, partnership value and long-term income growth through strong collaboration with colleagues.

Operational Excellence, Governance & Risk

• Ensure philanthropy and selected new business activity complies with due diligence, gift acceptance and risk management requirements.
• Oversee accurate philanthropy pipeline reporting, forecasting and performance tracking, using Salesforce and other systems to ensure insight informs portfolio planning and decision-making.
• Work with Finance and Operations to ensure income is contracted, invoiced, and reported accurately and on time in line with financial controls.
• Identify and escalate strategic, financial or reputational risks associated with donors, prospects and partnerships.

Cross-Organisational Leadership & Representation

• Act as a senior ambassador for Impetus, representing the organisation credibly with new donors, partners, and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to organisational strategy, income planning, and senior leadership discussions.
• Lead philanthropic work on Impetus funds including identifying funding opportunities and risks; shaping prospect pipelines; contributing to cases for support and donor presentations; and develop fund stewardship.
• Champion collaboration across the Philanthropy team, ensuring opportunities are shared, relationships are well managed and expertise is used to maximise income and impact.
• Model Impetus’ values, evidence-led approach and commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion across the philanthropy portfolio.

Strategic Leadership

• Work in partnership with the Director of Philanthropy and Partnerships to contribute to the fundraising strategy.
• Translate strategic priorities into clear operational plans, objectives and delivery, ensuring stewardship, renewal and relationship growth contribute to organisational priorities, income targets and long-term growth ambitions.
• Provide strategic oversight of philanthropy portfolio forecasting, budgeting input, pipeline performance and resource recommendations, ensuring risks and opportunities are identified and escalated proactively.
• Maximise the contribution of trustees, committees, senior volunteers and wider networks to support donor stewardship, relationship growth and selected new business development.
• Act as a trusted senior adviser to the Directors of Philanthropy and Partnerships, providing insight, challenge and solutions to strengthen philanthropy portfolio performance and wider fundraising capability.
• Deputise for the Director of Philanthropy and Partnerships where appropriate, within agreed delegations and priorities.

Person specification

Essential:

Fundraising & new business leadership

• Significant experience in major donor and/or corporate fundraising at six and seven-figure gift level, with a strong track record of securing new income and managing complex partnerships.
• Ability to lead and personally deliver the full fundraising cycle, from prospecting and cultivation through to solicitation, negotiation, and close.
• Proven experience of building, managing, and converting a new business pipeline, balancing ambition with delivery.
• Strong ability to leverage internal and external networks, including trustees, senior volunteers, and professional contacts.

Senior stakeholder engagement

• Experience of operating at a senior level and leading high value or complex stakeholder relationships (trustees, board members, senior external partners).

About the role

We are looking to recruit two Events Assistants who are looking to start their career in events and who can be a “can do” true all-rounder. Someone who has the ability to be focused on the details and deadlines demanded by event management as well as someone who has the relationship management experience of working and managing fundraising committees.

User Support Officer

We are seeking a detail-focused User Support Officer to deliver high-quality support across mySociety’s digital public services.

About the role

This is an opportunity to join mySociety, a purposeful charity creating digital services that help break down barriers to democratic participation.

You will provide frontline user support across key citizen services including FixMyStreet, TheyWorkForYou, WhatDoTheyKnow and WriteToThem, as well as managing incoming enquiries to mySociety.

About mySociety

mySociety is a small, purposeful charity creating and running digital services that support democratic participation and help people take action and drive meaningful change.

Digital Project Manager

Contract type: 12 months fixed term, 21 hours 3 days per week

The Role:

The Movement Building Manager is central to KT’s mission, helping drive the legal, policy, and social change needed to advance LGBTI+ rights by strengthening partners’ capacity, supporting their advocacy, and building long-term movement impact.

The role oversees KT’s major grant-funded programmes from start to finish. Through direct delivery and coordination across KT, they ensure that each grant meets its objectives, is delivered on time and within budget, is compliant with regulations and requirements, including reporting, is risk-managed, and contributes to KT’s wider movement-building strategy.

This role is an opportunity to support LGBTI+ organisations at a critical moment globally, providing the longer-term funding, partnership, and capacity support needed to drive legal, policy, and social change in their own contexts.

The Movement Building Manager will be the lead responsible for the delivery, donor compliance, and accountability of part of our programmatic work. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering key parts of the grants directly (such as grant-making and capacity strengthening support), build connections and relationships with grantee partners, and will support coordinated delivery across KT by bringing together colleagues and functions to meet programme objectives and donor requirements.

Contract type: Fixed-term maternity cover (up to 12 months). The successful candidate will be employed until the substantive postholder returns from maternity leave. While the expected duration is up to 12 months, the contract may end earlier if the postholder returns sooner.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leading the delivery of a major governmental/institutional grant to agreed standards and timelines, including capacity strengthening and grant-making and coordination of grant-linked workplans, outputs, and timelines across the organisation.

• Ensuring and coordinating full compliance with donor requirements, including narrative and financial reporting, safeguarding, due diligence, monitoring, and financial accountability, and supporting other teams to meet the same.

• Managing partner relationships and supporting organisations through long-term accompaniment, capacity strengthening, and strategic movement support.

• Efficient stakeholder management, maintaining close communication and coordination with the donor, partners, consultants and service providers, and/or any other external stakeholder related to the grant.

• Working closely with the Head of Movement Building to ensure coherence across the grant portfolio, clear prioritisation, and sustainable workload planning. 

• Contributing to a collaborative and sustainable team culture, supporting shared planning and realistic workload management across the Movement Building Team. 

• Collaborating with TCEN members, where KT grant delivery intersects with network activity, while maintaining clear governance boundaries and recognising TCEN’s distinct member-led accountability. 

Person Specification:

Essential

• Experience managing grant-funded programmes in the Global South and East, including delivery, compliance, safeguarding, and reporting. 

• Strong understanding of donor requirements and accountability, including financial oversight and risk management. 

• Experience working with civil society partners in the Global South and East, building trusted relationships and providing long-term support. 

• Experience of grant-making processes, including due diligence, contracting, sub-grant management, and partner monitoring. 

• Ability to coordinate delivery across colleagues and teams, ensuring programmes are delivered effectively and realistically. 

• Strong organisational and communication skills, including clear writing for donor audiences. 

• Commitment to LGBTI+ rights and an understanding of the challenges facing movements globally, including the anti-rights environment.

We are working with a well-established £50m+ charitable and grant-funded organisation to recruit an experienced Interim Senior Management Accountant – Grants for an initial six-month assignment.

Reporting to the Finance Director, this is a senior, hands-on role combining management accounting, complex grant and project finance, business partnering and financial analysis.

A key part of the brief is finding someone who is naturally curious and questioning. They want someone who will interrogate the numbers, investigate anomalies, understand what is driving performance and come forward with solutions rather than simply reporting what has happened.

Key responsibilities

• Take senior oversight of a portfolio of complex, high-value grants and funded projects, ensuring robust financial management throughout the funding lifecycle.
• Work closely with project leads and senior stakeholders, providing financial advice, challenge and insight.
• Lead on management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, variance and trend analysis.
• Ensure restricted and grant-funded income and expenditure is accurately accounted for, allocated and reported.
• Produce and review financial reports and returns for major institutional and public funding bodies, ensuring compliance with individual funding requirements.

We are looking for an exceptional, highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a full-time Youth Worker (Youth Voice), supporting our mission to enable young people who are homeless, facing homelessness or unsafe to achieve independence and positive futures.

The successful candidate will work within the Youth Work Team to deliver our frontline drop-in service and support our weekly and monthly activities to all young people experiencing homelessness.

You’ll specialise in youth participation, ensuring that a diverse range of young people’s voices are heard. You’ll also facilitate and lead on supporting our Youth Advisory Board and work alongside them to cultivate inclusive activities which increase youth participation across all our services. We have an ambitious plan to improve and accelerate our youth voice strategy and this role will be at the heart of this delivery.

You should be experienced in designing, planning and facilitating a range of activities and group work with and for young people and be able to work dynamically in a fast-paced day centre environment. We are looking for candidates who are passionate about youth engagement and skilled in bringing out the ideas, voices and opinions of young people to shape service delivery. We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with a background in running participatory youth projects, co-production, youth engagement sessions and/or community engagement.

The ideal candidate is a team player who enjoys working collaboratively across our organisation. This role also includes working closely with our Campaigns, Impact and Policy team to ensure young people’s voices are at the heart of our external campaigning work.

You’ll play a key role in ensuring Shelter’s IT infrastructure is secure, reliable and fit for the future. Working across a range of technologies, you’ll provide expert technical leadership, lead the delivery of infrastructure projects and improvements, resolve complex technical issues, and help maximise the value of Shelter’s investment in technology. You’ll work closely with colleagues across IT and the wider organisation to develop resilient, innovative solutions that support our strategic objectives while continuously improving our systems, services and ways of working.

About you

To succeed, you’ll need proven relevant experience that includes managing major updates and the replacement or commissioning of new services. You’ll also need to have worked deploying and troubleshooting Microsoft Azure hosted Windows and ideally Linux servers and Entra ID administration. An awareness and understanding of best working practice around information and technology security is important too, while it goes without saying that you have great problem-solving skills. Comfortable working both as part of team and independently, it’s anticipated that some tasks may fall outside of your prior experience, so you’ll also need to be keen to learn and develop. The ideal candidate should have practicable knowledge of WAN and LAN technologies including the configuration and troubleshooting of switches using GUI and Command line interfaces. Experience with liaising with third party network providers would also be desirable but not essential. We also require someone that is willing to travel on occasions when needed.

The Deputy Fitness Centre Manager is a role that is largely based on site (80:20 split) and the post holder will work a minimum of 14 hours per week at front of house, leading delivery. Shift patterns and start times will be dependent on the needs of the business. This will mean occasions when late, early and weekend work will be required. Shift location will vary between our sites. Provided staffing needs are met, the role holder will be able to work from home one day per week. They will utilise customer feedback and insight on our target market, to optimise our service.

The Deputy Fitness Centre Manager is responsible for maximising the number of students using TeamUCL Gyms and ensuring all members have an excellent user experience. They have oversight for the holistic member journey including promotion, joining, induction and retention. Ensuring both the digital and in-person experience exceeds member expectations. They will have autonomy to be agile and responsive to member needs, adapting the customer journey to the changing needs.
