The responsibilities of the Senior Finance Officer (Cash) will include:

• Preparing cash flow forecasts to support cash management, and support the payment run process
• Providing cash flow reports to the Cabinet Office to support the monthly group submission to HM Treasury

• Supporting the payroll and staff costs recording, ad-hoc recharging and purchase to pay processes

About the role
We are recruiting for a Philanthropy Manager (Major Donors) to join on a full-time basis, working 35 hours per week on a permanent contract.

This is a home-based role, though you will be required to frequently travel to attend donor meetings and some team-based meetings and training (travel expenses will be covered by the Society). You must reside in the UK, have the correct right to work documents to work in the UK and able to reliably travel to London on a regular basis.

The Major Donor team is growing fast, doubling their income target last year to fund even more critical dementia support services and research. As Philanthropy Manager you will help us to reach our goal of securing £5+ million a year from Major Donors by 2027.

In this role, you will work with the Major Donor Lead to forge new relationships, grow our prospect pipeline and build connections with sector specialists (such as wealth managers). This role will give you the chance to deliver meaningful impact on the lives of people affected by dementia.

Interviews for this role have been provisionally scheduled to take place on Monday 2nd and Tuesday 3rd February.

About you
Joining us, you will have a proven record of securing major gifts from philanthropic individuals. You will have an entrepreneurial approach and be able to demonstrate how you have secured new opportunities and built lasting relationships and long-term income.
  
You will be a confident and engaging communicator, adept at collaborating with stakeholders internally and externally. You must understand the motivations of social impact investing for supporters and be curious and highly motivated about ending the devastation caused by dementia.

This role provides a great opportunity for an established fundraiser to grow our pipeline, an area that we know has huge potential for growth. You will get the opportunity to work on a variety of interesting and vital programmes of work that provide help and hope for everyone affected by dementia.

What you’ll focus on:

- Forging close relationships with philanthropists.
- Managing a portfolio of donors, to provide our supporters with best in sector stewardship.
- Building networks with philanthropic ‘intermediaries’, such as private wealth managers and family offices.
-  Cross-team working with our Insurance United Against Dementia and Sport United Against Dementia development boards, to grow our philanthropic networks.

Role description: You will work with local residents to continue our community engagement work, empowering residents to bring about positive change for North Leatherhead and facilitating their engagement in decisions affecting the local area.

Pay and hours: £16 an hour. 15 hours per week, with occasional evening and weekend working.

Contract: 6-month contract, initially.  

Location: LCH, Kingston Road, Leatherhead. KT22 7PX. Not suitable for remote working.

 

Context:

North Leatherhead is in the top 5% most deprived neighbourhoods in Surrey, with one of the highest concentrations of foodbank use in the county and healthy life expectancy rates that are, on average, seven years lower than in South Leatherhead. A listening exercise by Mole Valley District Council highlighted the lack of community provision and the damaging impact of the closure of the children’s centre and other community buildings in recent years.

Leatherhead Community Hub (LCH) opened in March 2022 as a dedicated community centre in North Leatherhead. LCH provides opportunities for people to come together socially and build community, as well as giving partner organisations a permanent base from which to offer vital support. Our mission is to create a safe, welcoming space at the heart of the community, where people of all ages can connect, learn, have fun, and find the support they need to thrive. The Hub attracts around 3,500 visitors a month to our community café and the many other community activities run by LCH and other local groups.

One of LCH’s core values is to be community-led, and we are always looking for opportunities to take on board people’s ideas and develop their gifts. Last year, we set up a non-contact boxing project and we have plans for a new football project, in response to parents’ concerns about the lack of provision for children and young people. Responsibility for both projects is being handed over to local residents.

 

Role description:

You will be responsible for listening to, engaging with and empowering local residents to facilitate positive change in their community, with the following specific objectives:

· To establish a residents’ panel (or similar), giving local residents a greater say in decisions affecting local community.

· To organise an Annual General Meeting (or similar), ensuring that LCH is accountable to the local community.

· To carry out a community survey (or listening exercise) for North Leatherhead, to increase our understanding of the concerns and hopes of local residents.

In addition, we would like to explore ways to increase ownership and involvement of local residents in all aspects of the running of LCH. You will be employed by LCH, using the Hub as a base for networking and capacity-building, whilst also reaching out to other sections of the community. This role will require you to have a regular presence at LCH and in the wider community.

· Excellent listening skills – friendly and approachable, with the ability to connect with people from a wide range of backgrounds and make them feel supported and valued.

· Experience of volunteering and/or working in a community setting.

· Strong organisational, time management and IT skills.

Reporting to our Head of Technology Operations and Security, key responsibilities will include:

- Lead on activities that assess, report and mitigate risk, with the focus being to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of RBL’s information assets

- Lead on the design and implementation of robust processes for reviewing & addressing the data security posture of third-party suppliers
