Greyhound Rescue Wales (GRW) is Wales’ leading charity dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming greyhounds and lurchers. Founded in 1993, we have spent more than three decades championing the welfare of sighthounds and working towards our vision: a Wales without greyhound racing, where every greyhound and lurcher has a home and receives the best possible care.
In April 2026, after 25 years of determined campaigning to improve welfare and regulation within the racing industry, legislation to ban greyhound racing in Wales was finally passed. About the role
There are 2 Policy Officer roles in the Health and Care Policy team available. The team focuses on shaping the future of the health and social care system in the UK to ensure the best care for all, by supporting more evidence-informed policy and decision-making. The Fundraising Executives provide support to the wider Fundraising team assisting with all aspects of fundraising activity. Three Fundraising Executives are managed by the Head of Fundraising and support fundraising activity across 11 segments of income generation. The Fundraising Executive is a varied role with involvement in each stage of fundraising activity, from research and planning to campaign or event delivery and then income processing and thanking of donors and supporters. The Felix Project and FareShare have recently merged to form the UK's largest food redistribution charity. Its vision is a UK where good food is never wasted, and nobody goes hungry.
The organisation rescues high quality edible surplus food, from across the food industry and gets it to over 8,000 organisations across the UK who are working to strengthen communities and improve lives.
The charity manages seven depots across London, Suffolk, Merseyside and Hampshire and works with 16 network partners who operate a further 26 regional depots across the UK.
Over the next year our ambition is to rescue enough food nationally to provide nearly 200 million meals, turning an environmental problem into social good with measurable impact for people, planet, and the economy.
Person Specification
You will be excellent people manager, love working with a wide variety of people and be able to quickly build deep and positive relationships in a volunteer-centric organisation. You will want to spend time with the volunteers and get to know their experience and perspective. You are highly organised, data and IT savvy, efficient with your time, and you are used to prioritising tasks and making a difference wherever you go. You have a passion for being in a charity that is expanding rapidly and thriving in a busy environment. You will have a desire to help reduce food waste and/or fight food poverty.
Duties and Responsibilities
•Responsible for the end-to-end volunteer experience at the Merseyside Depot
•Recruit, induct, and support volunteers
•Handle individual volunteers’ queries and issues
•Carry out administrative tasks including using the Volunteer Management System in Microsoft Dynamics. Report on and utilise the data to make positive changes
•Manage volunteer feedback and implement effective problem-solving techniques and strategies
•Develop and deliver volunteer recruitment campaigns
•Support volunteer events for recruitment and recognition
•Lead the implementation of volunteer-related policies and continuous improvement initiatives locally
•Support other teams across the organisation to develop skillsets to better support volunteers across the organisation
•Act as a local ambassador for the organisation
Essential Criteria
•Robust management skills within a fast-paced environment
•Excellent verbal and written communicator at all levels
•Great organisational, planning, and problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects
•Good computer skills including the ability to use Office365 and learn new systems quickly
•Experience of working with volunteers and/or volunteering
•Great interpersonal, networking, and facilitation skills
•Ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders and foster an inclusive environment
•Project management experience, including setting and meeting clear targets and working with other teams to achieve outcomes
•Ability to organise and facilitate events and activities for volunteers

We are looking for a proactive individual who is passionate about education, professional development and paediatric palliative care. You will have experience in clinical education, running high-quality training programmes for clinical staff, and in overseeing student placements.
We are widening our student nursing placement offer and the post holder will take a lead role in the development, coordination and quality assurance of our student placements. You will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure students receive outstanding placement opportunities.
The successful candidate will also oversee the further development of our Paediatric Palliative Care Foundation Course. Having established a strong internal programme, we are looking for an inspiring educator who can help shape the next phase of its growth, extending opportunities for learning to both internal colleagues and external healthcare professionals.
In addition, as we expand our clinical skills training offer, you will lead the design, delivery and evaluation of simulation programmes that build clinical skill competence.
