ID 1851 HR Business Partner, Human Resources (up to 2 vacancies)
Permanent contract
Family Action Head Office, London (N1) with hybrid working
37 hours per week (full-time)
£37,211 - £41,518 per annum
Plus £3,866 Inner London Weighting (if London-based) or £480 (if home-based)
We are flexible about both hours and where you work. The role is 37 hours per week full-time, but we welcome applications from people looking for part-time or other flexible working arrangements. We are also open to both office and home-based working; for colleagues based at our London office (N1), we operate a hybrid working model with an expectation of office attendance twice per week.
One of the roles will partner with our London-based services, so being based in or within commuting distance of London would be beneficial. However, we don’t want location to be a barrier and we welcome applications from people based elsewhere in the UK.
Family Action & the Role’s Impact:
At Family Action, we support people through change, challenge or crisis. It’s what we’ve done for over 150 years. We protect children, support young people and adults and offer direct, practical help to families and communities.
We see first-hand the power of family to shape lives, for better or worse, so we speak up for the importance of family in national and local policymaking, amplify family voices and represent the changing needs of families in the UK today.
In the HR Business Partner role, you will partner with leaders and managers across the organisation, building strong relationships and developing a deep understanding of the services and business areas you support. As their key HR contact, you will provide expert advice and coaching on complex people matters, help managers build their confidence and capability, and support them to plan strategically for their people and align their plans with the wider people strategy.
You will also manage, coach and develop a team of HR Advisers, supporting them to build their expertise and deliver a high-quality HR service.
Alongside this, you will lead on complex change processes, including TUPE transfers and restructures, working collaboratively across HR, Services, and Implementation teams to implement change effectively.
If you have significant HR experience, strong applied knowledge of employee relations and experience supporting complex organisational change, we would like to hear from you. You might come from a generalist HR background or have specialised in employee relations or change, and you don’t need to have worked in the not-for-profit sector or held a formal management role before. The ability to build trusted relationships, provide pragmatic and solution-focused advice, deliver through others and contribute to the continued development of our people practices will make you an ideal candidate.
We are a supportive and inclusive organisation, and we want to break down barriers to people joining us. If you don’t feel confident applying because you don’t meet every single requirement on the Person Specification – please don’t let that stop you; we want to hear from you. We encourage you to use the application to highlight what you can bring to the role – your skills, knowledge, and experience as well as your values. At Family Action our 4 core values are incredibly important to us and underpin all we do. We are a 'people focused', 'can-do' organisation, which strives for 'excellence' in all we do and operates with 'mutual respect'.
Benefits:
- an annual paid leave entitlement of 30 working days (pro rata) plus bank holidays
- up to 6% matched-pension contributions
- flexible working arrangements and new starters have the right to make flexible working requests from day one of employment
- enhanced paid sick leave and paid family leave provisions
- eye care and winter flu jab vouchers
- cycle to work scheme
- investing in your professional development with ongoing quality training and career development opportunities
Closing Date: Monday 31st August 2026 at 23:59 pm
For direct queries, or if you would like to discuss any aspect of the selection process or the potential for flexible working arrangements, please email Katie Milne, Head of HR (full email adress located in the advert on our careers page).
All appointments with Family Action are subject to satisfactory Safer Recruitment checks.

We are happy to consider any reasonable adjustments that candidates may need during the recruitment process and you will be asked whether you require any adjustments if shortlisted for interview. We also make reasonable adjustments on the job, where required.
We are committed to Equality, Diversity & Inclusion in all that we do and welcome applications from all sections of the community. Intersectionality is important to us and we particularly welcome applications from ethnically diverse communities, LGBTQIA+ candidates and disabled candidates because we are committed to increasing the representation of these groups at Family Action. The Belay Foundation supports adoptive, kinship and special guardianship families raising children who have experienced early developmental trauma, often alongside neurodiversity. Founded in 2020 from lived experience, Belay offers something many families struggle to find elsewhere: practical, in-home support and expert guidance that’s genuinely trauma-responsive, delivered by people who understand what these families are living through.
This is an exciting opportunity to join us at a pivotal stage in our development. Over the past year, we have strengthened our services, systems and organisational foundations and developed ambitious plans for the future. As we continue to grow our reach and impact, we're looking for an experienced Communications and Engagement Manager to help tell our story, strengthen our profile and build meaningful relationships with the families, partners and supporters who make our work possible.
Working closely with our Chief Executive Officer, you'll lead our communications, marketing and stakeholder engagement activity, helping more families discover our services while supporting fundraising, partnerships and organisational growth. You'll also play a key role in embedding lived experience across our communications and engagement, ensuring the voices of families remain at the heart of everything we do.
This is a home-based role for two days per week (0.4 FTE), offering flexibility alongside the opportunity to shape a growing national charity. There may be potential to increase the hours over time, subject to funding, making this an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to grow with the organisation. This is a home‑based role, but applicants must be permanently based, and have the right to work, in the United Kingdom. For legal, tax, and operational reasons, we cannot consider applications from outside the UK.
If you're a creative and strategic communicator who enjoys building relationships, creating compelling content and using communications to drive social impact, we'd love to hear from you.
Please see the Candidate Application Pack for further details, including the full job description and the application/ interview process.

At The National Lottery Community Fund (The Fund), we are driven by our strategy ‘It starts with community’ and its four community-led missions, as well as our commitment to tackling poverty, discrimination and disadvantage through an equity-based approach.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the UK Portfolio at an ambitious moment of shaping the next phase of our strategy. We are looking for two experienced managers to join us for two fixed term Portfolio Manager roles (12-month FTC and FTC until 31 March 2027) who will form part of a team of around 40 in total.
The UK Portfolio supports the ambitions and potential of communities across the UK. We focus on scaling projects with a UK-wide benefit, through significant investments and partnerships, which enable systems-level change for communities. Our funding is intended to complement the work of other country portfolios: England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
Our Portfolio Managers support the delivery of the UK Portfolio strategy through managing the design and delivery of funding programmes, helping shape and deliver new partnerships and investments, as well as managing our team of Funding Officers. You will be one of 10 Portfolio Managers and report to one of our senior team, working closely with them to deliver the UK Portfolio strategy now and as we move into the next phase.
Our current work includes:
Role Expectations
We are looking for experienced managers who are confident in managing and developing others, managing performance and adept at managing a varied workload from across our funding lifecycle to new funding investments and partnerships.
You will first and foremost be a people manager, with the skills and experience of navigating operational delivery from budgets, resourcing and risk, for example, to ensuring quality delivery of our work and supporting a culture that enables people to thrive.
You could be working across any of our programmes and developing areas of work but an interest in our current funding programmes and areas of development is essential. If you have a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing communities across the UK, these roles are for you.
All managers will have blended roles that combine people and some operational responsibilities, as well as involvement in developing areas of work. The variety of responsibilities could include:
You will need to work collectively and very closely with the other managers each day as to how responsibilities and workstream leads are agreed and managed.
We're looking for people with practical experience of the funding and grant-making environment, who can bring their sound judgement relating to this to the team. You will also bring strong analytical, project and stakeholder and relationship management skills, alongside the ability to be adaptable and comfortably work at pace.
You’ll be joining a dynamic and welcoming geographically dispersed team, working with hugely important and fascinating projects that are responding to and addressing a wide range of topics across the Fund’s four community-led missions.
Due to our dispersed nature as a team, it is expected that there will be occasional travel in order to connect with colleagues, stakeholders and projects. This is likely to be one to two occasions per month.
Interview details:
We have a hybrid approach to working, work pattern and location will be agreed with the successful candidate. The role can be based at any of our UK offices, these are Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff, Exeter, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Manchester and Newcastle.

Senior Event Manager
Wings for Life
£50k-£52k
Full-time, permanent
Hybrid: 2 days at Red Bull UK's London offices, with some flexibility for home working
Charity People are delighted to be partnering with Wings for Life to recruit their next Senior Event Manager.
Join Wings for Life and take the lead in shaping one of the most exciting and impactful event portfolios in the charity sector. You will drive the strategy, growth and delivery of a diverse programme of premium fundraising events, mass participation experiences and high-profile partnerships that inspire supporters, engage world-class brands and generate vital funds to find a cure for spinal cord injury.
Your portfolio will span exclusive owned fundraising events such as Mikey's Mountain Miles, our skiing fundraiser with Mike Tindal MBE; The Clay Day, a premium sporting and hospitality experience with our Formula 1 partners; and two established golf events, including an owned event, Gourmet Golf, and a supporter-led initiative. You will also play a central role in maximising opportunities through major third-party events and partnerships, including the Wings for Life World Run, the London Marathon 2027, and high-profile Red Bull events.
This is more than event management. It is an opportunity to identify new opportunities, develop innovative event concepts and create unforgettable supporter experiences that stand out in a crowded fundraising landscape. Working closely with senior leadership, ambassadors, partners and supporters, you will combine creativity, commercial acumen and flawless execution to grow income, build awareness and strengthen Wings for Life's position as a leading charity brand. Whether enhancing existing events or creating entirely new experiences within and beyond the Red Bull universe, you will play a pivotal role in delivering ambitious growth and lasting impact.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking an ambitious, creative and highly organised event leader who thrives on turning great ideas into exceptional experiences. You will have a proven track record of delivering high-quality events, achieving ambitious commercial and fundraising targets, and building strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. Equally comfortable developing strategy and rolling up your sleeves to deliver flawless event execution, you will bring the energy, entrepreneurial mindset and attention to detail needed to drive growth across our events portfolio.
As a manager, you will lead and develop our Event & Fundraising Specialist, providing coaching, support and professional development while fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture. You will also play an active role in supporting our individual fundraising programme and championing a 'one team' approach across the organisation.
Success in this role will require strong commercial awareness, budget management expertise and the confidence to negotiate, influence and present to senior stakeholders, partners and Board members. You will be adept at managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining a relentless focus on delivering outstanding supporter experiences and maximising return on investment.
Experience working with premium brands, VIP audiences, luxury hospitality or high-end events would be advantageous, as would a passion for identifying new opportunities, creating innovative event concepts and challenging conventional thinking. Above all, you will be a solutions-focused self-starter with exceptional relationship-building skills, a genuine passion for our mission and the drive to help Wings for Life achieve extraordinary impact.
We value experience, talent and results over formal qualifications. If you have the vision, energy and expertise to grow one of the most exciting event portfolios in the charity sector, we'd love to hear from you.
