Prospectus is delighted to be working in partnership with our client in the search for a Community and Volunteer Engagement Coordinator. This is a unique opportunity to join a values‑driven housing association with charitable aims, committed to creating positive change in people’s lives through housing, support, enterprise, and community connection. Please note this is a part-time role working 19 hours per week on a 14 month fixed-term contract.
This role offers the chance to do work that truly matters. You will lead a one‑year project tackling food poverty while strengthening wellbeing, social connection, and access to opportunity for tenants and local communities. Sitting within the Enterprises and Training Team, you will shape and deliver a wrap around service alongside the Pantry Coordinator, bringing together skills training, information and guidance, volunteering, and community led activities. This is a role with real ownership, creativity, and the chance to build meaningful partnerships while seeing the tangible impact of your work day to day.
We are looking for someone who brings warmth, initiative, and curiosity, with experience of community engagement, volunteer coordination, or wellbeing focused services. You will be collaborative and confident working with diverse communities, including people facing disadvantage, mental health challenges, or social isolation. A strengths‑based mindset, the ability to build trusted relationships, and the confidence to facilitate groups, events, and co‑production activities are essential. You don’t need to meet every requirement on paper, what matters most is your commitment to social inclusion, learning, and positive change.

You’ll inspire and support volunteers, build strong relationships with parishes and clergy, and increase participation in CAFOD’s work to tackle poverty and injustice.

Location

Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) is a leading public health charity working to eliminate the harm caused by tobacco. We work with government, parliamentarians, the NHS, researchers and civil society to deliver policies that reduce smoking and support people to quit, with the ultimate aim of ending smoking in the UK.
A key part of ASH’s work is supporting and convening professional networks that bring together organisations and experts working to reduce smoking harms across different sectors.
Purpose of the Role
The Stakeholder Engagement and Network Co-ordinator will support and strengthen several of ASH’s key professional networks, ensuring they operate effectively and maximise their impact on policy and practice. The post holder will maintain strong engagement with network members, facilitate collaboration across sectors, and ensure insights from networks inform ASH’s policy and communications work.
The role will also lead on the development of a new Lived Experience Network, enabling people with current or past experience of smoking to inform ASH’s policy work.
In addition, the post holder will support organisations to sign up to and engage with the newly launched Pledge for a Smokefree UK, helping to build a broad coalition of support for ending smoking.
Over the coming year it is anticipated that there will be a high volume of government consultations on tobacco as government prepares to implement the powers in the Tobacco and Vapes Act. The input of our professional networks into these consultations will be an additional priority.

The role:
As Community & Volunteer Engagement Coordinator you will be assisting Peter Bedford Housing Association with its current strategic aims of making a difference for Tenants and Participants and achieving more through ambitious partnerships.
Situated within the housing association’s Enterprises & Training Team, you will lead the delivery of a specific project seeking to tackle food poverty and long-term development needs such as wellbeing and social connection.
You will work alongside the Pantry Coordinator to lead on developing a wrap-around service to enable access to skills training, IAG, and volunteering opportunities for PBHA’s tenants and local communities.
In this role you will develop partnerships to help Peter Bedford Housing Association listen to community needs collaborating with groups supporting global majority individuals to co-produce activities with wellbeing and community connection at its core. A key target of this important project is to work collaboratively to ensure Peter Bedford Housing Association activities and services are increasingly accessible and relevant to any local person who wishes to join.
