About Us

Founded in 1997, GamCare is the leading provider of information, advice and support for anyone affected by gambling harms. We founded and operate the National Gambling Helpline, provide structured support for anyone who is harmed by gambling and create awareness about safer gambling and treatment.

The role

Gambling Support Practitioners ensure that psychosocial and recovery support interventions are delivered as part of a cohesive recovery plan, working collaboratively with external and partner organisations to achieve positive outcomes for people affected by gambling harms.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Providing face to face and online advice, assessment, brief and structured interventions to help clients achieve their recovery goals, using motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioural approaches
• Providing safe and effective support to individuals whilst managing safeguarding issues in line with safeguarding procedures and policies 
• Developing collaborative working relationships with external agencies, professionals and groups to facilitate multi agency approaches and holistic support
• Developing relationships with local services and communities to support the identification of gambling harms in individuals and strengthen pathways into the service
• Participating in service promotion, networking activities and events to support visibility and ongoing development of the service, and to proactively respond to the needs identified within the region 

Location and working arrangements

This is a home-based role that requires regular travel across the East Midlands region, typically 2–3 days per week, to deliver in-person support, attend events and engage with local services.

Candidates must be currently living within the East Midlands, due to the need for regular regional travel. Applicants who do not reside within the East Midlands will not be considered.

This is a full-time role and includes a mix of 9–5pm and 12–8pm fixed shifts, Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturdays (9–2pm remotely). A day off in the week will be provided where weekend work is required.

About you

You should have significant experience of working with individual adults or young people in the field of addictions, mental health or social care.

You must have demonstrable experience of managing a client caseload and delivering psychosocial interventions, including experience of using cognitive behavioural approaches, low and high-intensity interventions and modalities and motivational interviewing. 

The successful candidate will be able to work independently from home in a confidential setting, while also being able to travel consistently across the East Midlands to attend events and offer localised in person support as required.

Job Title: Practitioner Psychologist

Location: Based in Croydon. Unfortunately this service does not have step free access.

Salary: £60,000 (Full Time Equivalent) 

NHS Equivalent Band: 8A

Shift Pattern: 22.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday working between 09:00 - 17:00, although some flexibility may be required at times with service needs. Working days can be agreed upon next stages of the interview process. 

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Registered Practitioner Psychologist with a background in clinical psychology to join our team in Croydon. The service offers a psychologically informed environment across four sites, providing low to high support forensic mental health services to our residents with forensic mental health needs, complex conditions, and dual diagnosis.

In this role, you will drive the delivery of evidence based psychological assessments and interventions aimed at the rehabilitation and reintegration of our residents into the communities. This is a creative, evolving, and impactful role which works closely with our Group Psychological Lead and wider teams to provide support to staff and at times residents to support in providing a streamlined and psychologically informed service.

Key Responsibilities Include: 

• Provide advice, guidance, and support to the team with supporting our residents to overcome personal challenges and create a supportive environment
• Advise and streamline best practices, and enhance the overall skills and expertise of the team to deliver high quality care and support
• Provide clinical supervision to the team
• Provide highly specialised psychological assessments for our residents with mental health and complex needs
• Exercise full clinical responsibility for residents psychological care as a care coordinator within a multidisciplinary team
• Formulate and implement plans for various therapy routes and management of assessing mental health conditions based upon appropriate conceptual frameworks and evidence-based practices

About You

We're looking for someone who is a self-starter, able to proactively encourage, take leadership and ownership for creating a psychologically informed environment. You will be able to communicate highly complex and sensitive information effectively within the organisation and with external partners, collaborating with external stakeholders regularly in a multidisciplinary approach. You will be able to utilise your own expertise and support in empowering the wider team to enhance their skills to deliver a service which is supportive, safe, and in line with best practice for the organisation and external regulatory bodies. 

• HCPC Registration is essential
• Post-graduate doctoral level training as a Registered Practitioner Psychologist including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology
• Previous experience working as a qualified clinical and/or forensic psychologist, including working with people with complex backgrounds/needs and a good understanding of the sector we run our services in
• Ability to teach, train, consult, and deliver clinical supervision
• Understanding of criminology, psychology, and behavioural patterns, and how they link to different behaviours and engagement
• Ability to understand and apply safeguarding protocols as they arise
• Ability and willingness to show flexibility in working patterns, responding to the needs of the service and residents

Purpose of the post: 

The Senior IAPT Practitioner will play a key role in delivering and developing Mind in the City, Hackney and Waltham Forest’s specialist Talking Therapies provision for African Caribbean Heritage (ACH), LGBTQIA+ and Global Majority communities.

The post holder will primarily deliver High Intensity (Step 3) psychological therapy, providing evidence-based one-to-one interventions for people experiencing anxiety and depression within a culturally responsive framework. The role will focus on delivering structured therapies such as Person-Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression (PCE-CfD) or other NICE-recommended modalities, alongside clinical assessment, formulation, and risk management.

In addition to clinical delivery, the role will include a small leadership component involving line management and professional support for Step 2 practitioners working within the specialist pathway. The post holder will help ensure quality, consistency and good practice across the Step 2 provision and may provide temporary clinical cover or guidance where service gaps arise.

The role contributes to improving equitable access and outcomes for African Caribbean Heritage, LGBTQIA+ and Global Majority communities, supporting the service to address inequalities in mental health provision.
