Rehoming Centre Manager

Beagle Welfare is looking for an experienced, compassionate and highly organised Rehoming Centre Manager to lead the daily operation of our Rehoming Centre, based in Burton-on-Trent.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a visible difference to the lives of beagles, adopters, volunteers and colleagues by creating a centre where excellent welfare, effective rehabilitation and successful rehoming are at the heart of everything we do.

As the lead on site, you will manage and develop staff and volunteers, oversee safe and efficient centre operations, and help ensure every beagle in our care receives the right support to progress towards a happy, secure future. You will also represent Beagle Welfare externally and contribute to the continued development of our rehoming work across the UK.

About the role

You will be responsible for the leadership, performance and smooth running of the Rehoming Centre, including staff and volunteer management, health and safety, site maintenance and the implementation of operational procedures. With rehoming at the centre of your decision-making, you will use data, strong people leadership and sound operational judgement to help improve outcomes for beagles and the people who care for and adopt them.

Key responsibilities

· Lead, motivate and develop a committed team of staff and volunteers, creating a positive, inclusive and high-performing culture.

· Oversee day-to-day centre operations, ensuring high standards of dog welfare, customer service, health and safety, security and compliance.

· Drive rehoming activity by supporting case progression, promoting beagles effectively and helping minimise the time beagles spend in our care.

· Manage resources, reporting and administrative processes accurately and responsibly.

· Build productive relationships with adopters, visitors, animal welfare organisations, and community partners.

· Use data, feedback and quality assurance processes to identify improvements and support consistent application of procedures.

About you

We are looking for a confident manager with experience leading diverse teams, delivering against targets and managing a varied operational workload. You will be comfortable working around dogs, including beagles with different welfare and behavioural needs, and able to balance compassion with practical decision-making. Strong communication, organisation, collaboration and stakeholder management skills are essential, as is experience in supporting continuous improvement.

You will also need a UK manual driving licence and be comfortable driving our van. Experience in a kennel or animal welfare environment would be advantageous, but above all you will share Beagle Welfare’s commitment to improving the lives of beagles and supporting the people who care for them.

Working pattern and location

This role is based at the Rehoming Centre and offers employment that includes employer provided accommodation (3-bedroom cottage) as part of the compensation package.

The centre operates between 08:30 and 17:00 every day of the year, so weekend and bank holiday working will be required on a rota basis.

This is a hands-on role for an experienced organiser who will lead key aspects of our community organising practice. You’ll lead projects end‑to‑end – from early concept and funding through to mobilisation, delivery, evaluation and legacy – ensuring programmes are well governed, well delivered and genuinely impactful.

In this varied and high-profile role, you will be:

• Managing a diverse portfolio of projects, campaigns and partnerships, delivered to agreed scope, budget, timelines and quality
• Working closely with external partners, funders and suppliers to coordinate delivery and maximise impact
• Applying consistent, high‑quality project management standards, documentation and governance throughout the project lifecycle
• Leading risk, safeguarding, health & safety and compliance management across community‑focused programmes
• Producing board, partner and audit‑ready reporting, giving clear visibility of progress, risks, outcomes and learning
• Leading impact reporting and evaluation – turning data and insight into evidence, learning and future opportunity
• Managing project budgets, resources and supplier relationships to ensure value for money and compliance

This is a highly collaborative role, working closely with colleagues across Partnerships & Communities, Group Projects, Operations, Support Services and external organisations.

 Our ideal candidate:

You’ll be a confident and values‑driven project professional who combines strong delivery discipline with empathy, creativity and influence.

• Proven experience leading complex projects end‑to‑end in multi‑stakeholder environments
• A strong understanding of project governance, assurance, risk management and portfolio delivery
• Experience working with partners, community organisations or suppliers, building trusted, productive relationships
• Confidence managing budgets, financial planning and value‑for‑money decisions within projects
• Excellent communication skills – able to translate complex information into clear, engaging messages for varied audiences
• Experience using project management tools and digital reporting platforms (e.g. MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, Visio or similar)
• A recognised project management qualification (PRINCE2 Practitioner or equivalent) or equivalent experience
• A genuine commitment to inclusion, co‑production and social impact, with an understanding of safeguarding and ethical delivery

You’ll join our Brand Marketing team at an exciting time. Following the success of campaigns including The Ultimate Vow, The Long Goodbye and, currently, A Personal Appeal, we’re on a mission to grow the public’s awareness of dementia and Alzheimer’s Society’s unique role in tackling the devastation of this disease.
You’ll work alongside the Senior Marketing Manager (Brand) to deliver the next advert in the A Personal Appeal series, develop strategic, innovative brand activations and partnerships and help shape where our brand goes next.

What you'll do
You’ll help develop brand campaigns, activations and partnerships from an initial idea through to testing, creative execution and delivery across a range of channels. And you’ll work collaboratively throughout the process with both our trusted creative and media planning agencies and internal stakeholders to build sector-leading work.
You’ll:

- Lead and project manage the delivery of large-scale, multi-channel brand marketing campaigns, keeping projects on track and working to agreed deadlines and budgets.
- Develop and deliver paid media strategies across AV, digital, out of home and print channels.
- Work closely with our creative and media agencies, building positive relationships and creating the conditions for brilliant work that makes people sit up and take notice.
- Drill down into audience insights, research and campaign performance to understand what’s working and where we can shift our approach to achieve organisational objectives.
- Bring colleagues and stakeholders with you along the way, so people across the organisation understand and feel connected to our campaigns.
- Help shape our brand strategy and make sure everything we produce feels consistent, relevant and inclusive.
- Manage significant budgets, making thoughtful decisions about where our investment can have the greatest impact.
- Consult on the strategic and creative development of key fundraising products, finding opportunities to connect our brand and fundraising activity.Line manage and support the Senior Marketing Executive (Brand), helping them develop and grow in their role.
- Deputise for the Senior Marketing Manager (Brand) when needed.

Some days will involve big ideas and inspiring creative conversations. Others will be about budgets, timelines, analysing data and getting the small details just right. You’ll need to be comfortable with both sides of this coin, while keeping sight of why this work matters to our audiences.

- Work collaboratively with creative and media agencies, providing clear direction, challenging constructively and creating space for ideas to bloom.
- Communicate clearly, build trusted relationships and influence a broad range of stakeholders, including senior colleagues.
- Understand how brand marketing can build trust, awareness and engagement to support a charity’s wider goals.
- Use research, data and insights to understand what matters to people, translating learnings into compelling brand campaigns and partnerships.

You’ll be comfortable bringing both creative flair and analytical thinking to your work. You’ll be organised, curious and able to manage your own workload, while also knowing when to involve others or ask for support.
