As Principal Policy Adviser (interim), you will collaborate with Uplift’s team and key partners to drive the design, development and delivery of work that generates influential policy and ideas addressing the challenges of a rapid and fair transition away from oil and gas production in the UK.

Core responsibilities will include:
Policy: Lead Uplift’s policy work, spearhead the development and testing of innovative policy initiatives, and identify and work through knowledge gaps relevant to Uplift’s strategy.
Coordination and Strategy Delivery: Work with teams to set and execute policy priorities, provide in-house policy support, contribute to the management of the Research Policy and LEgal Tea, and develop systems for quality assurance and knowledge management.
Advocacy and Network Support: Build capacity amongst other Uplift teams to understand the intersection of their work with policy topics and represent Uplift to policymakers and partner organisations.

The Centre for Long-Term Resilience is looking for a full-time Strategic Partnerships and Philanthropy Manager with knowledge of CLTR's areas of policy focus (AI safety and biosecurity) and with strong fluency in the conventions, expectations, and writing styles of philanthropic funders focused on extreme risks.
The Strategic Partnerships and Philanthropy Manager will play a central role in CLTR’s Fundraising Unit, holding day-to-day responsibility for a portfolio of significant funder partnerships and prospects, and supporting the organisation's long-term fundraising strategy. This is a hands-on role requiring excellent relationship management and project management skills, outstanding written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively across teams in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do
Hold day-to-day responsibility for a portfolio of funder relationships, maintaining an up-to-date picture of each funder's priorities, renewal timelines, and grant spend down for discussion with CLTR’s Strategic Partnerships and Philanthropy Lead, CEO and policy unit leads.
Project manage the delivery of donor-facing materials, including complex proposals, reports, and updates. This involves working in close partnership with policy units to agree on a structure, gathering relevant content, ensuring the framing of policy work is reflected appropriately (and contributing to this framing through donor-specific intelligence and relationship insight), coordinating with external contractors for strategic writing support, and enabling policy unit involvement throughout this process.

Conduct research on donors and prospects and help to build a pipeline of donors interested in funding work in the extreme risks space, working with senior stakeholders to identify relationship entry points and brief policy units to prepare for meetings.
Oversee due diligence for your caseload, coordinating with external contractors as needed.

• Communicate confidently with a wide range of supporters and stakeholders, handling queries and resolving issues in a calm and professional way.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the fundraising team to ensure community fundraising activity is aligned with the wider fundraising strategy and income goals.
Management
• Recruit, train, support and motivate fundraising volunteers to help deliver community fundraising activities and events.
• Manage relationships with external suppliers and partners, such as venues and event providers, to support successful delivery.
Planning and Organisation
• Develop and deliver activity, stewardship and campaign plans for community and challenge event fundraising within agreed priorities, budgets and income targets.
• Deliver high-quality fundraising events that raise awareness of The Pepper Foundation across Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire.
• Use Donorfy, our fundraising CRM, to administer and manage fundraising activity accurately and effectively, working with the Database Volunteer as needed.
• Produce post-event evaluations and recommendations in line with agreed requirements.
• Use insight, pipeline information and performance data to review results, identify trends and recommend improvements to future activity.
• Manage the day-to-day planning and delivery of key events and campaigns, making decisions within agreed plans, budgets and fundraising procedures.
• Take responsibility for health and safety in community fundraising activities, ensuring appropriate risk assessments are completed and relevant fundraising and safety procedures are followed.
• Respond appropriately to unexpected incidents at community fundraising events, following agreed procedures and escalating where needed.
• Take an active role in setting up and clearing down events and community fundraising activities, including periods of standing and occasional unsocial hours.
• Arrange appropriate Pepper Foundation attendance at local community events when needed.
• Manage resources effectively, including volunteer support, to maximise reach, income and engagement.
Reporting
• Produce regular reports on pipeline, activity, outcomes, income performance and learning for the Head of Fundraising, highlighting opportunities, risks and recommendations.
