Principal Philanthropy Lead – Best Chance will lead philanthropy across pioneering medical research, innovation and new treatments, as well as our growing US Giving programme. It will also offer senior leadership for Fundraising Research, our prospecting, insight and due diligence service across Relationship Fundraising.

Principal Philanthropy Lead – Best Childhood will lead philanthropy across our hospital environment, capital infrastructure and patient and family experience, including senior leadership of the final phase of our £300m Build It. Beat It. appeal and the transition towards our next major campaign. The role will also offer senior leadership for Stewardship across Relationship Fundraising, supporting exceptional supporter experiences, impact reporting, recognition and engagement.

Salary

The salary for these positions is £71,831 per annum.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Significant experience leading philanthropy, major gifts or principal gifts fundraising, with a proven track record of income growth and securing seven-figure+ gifts.
• Exceptional relationship-building and influencing skills, with experience engaging philanthropists, high-net-worth individuals, trusts and foundations, senior volunteers and executive stakeholders.

Job Purpose: 

To oversee the management and growth of Venue Hire for our historic spaces covering meetings, conferences, talks, weddings and community activities. This is our primary source of income and key to supporting our library and learning programme, alongside our theatre income and fundraising.

The role will also lead on identifying and developing new business opportunities for other commercial income streams, building relationships with clients and partners, and ensuring that commercial activity supports the Foundation’s charitable purpose and long-term sustainability.

Optimising the use of space to ensure that St Bride Foundation (SBF) operates profitably as well as meeting the needs of our communities is a key part of the role. The Business Development and Events Manager will oversee the Venue Hire activity and promote the venue’s room resources, as well as supporting the Library and Workshop in the organisation of in-house courses, seminars and events.

Key Responsibilities: 

Events Management

• Manage the Events Team activity of promoting and selling the venue’s event spaces, ensuring SBF has good visibility on all relevant venue hire websites.
• Responding to and converting enquiries and monitoring conversion effectiveness.
• Managing clients’ needs for booked events.
• Negotiating contracts for both short and long-term use; and ensuring that all aspects of the venue are fit for purpose.
• Identify new networks and online promotions to promote the SBF offer

Be responsible, along with the Operations Manager and Foundation Manager, to the Board for:

• Setting and achieving yearly and monthly income budgets, including quarterly forecasting and planning.
• All aspects of pricing and contract negotiation for areas of responsibility including catering, furniture hire, keyholding and cleaning. Ensure service, pricing and contracts are regularly reviewed.
• Working “hands-on” within a small team, getting involved in all aspects of delivering a quality service, monitoring and reviewing customer experience and satisfaction.
• Assisting the Operations Manager with Health & Safety and compliance issues relating to your area of responsibility.

• Support SBF marketing efforts working with the Events team on social media content and website updates.
• Act as an ambassador for St Bride Foundation, upholding its mission to preserve and promote print and design heritage. Actively contribute to SBF redevelopment plans in terms of future planning for events and building operations.

Business Development & Commercial Growth

• Build and maintain a pipeline of prospective clients and strategic partners, converting opportunities into new and repeat business.
• Develop relationships with event agencies, corporate organisations, professional bodies, cultural and educational organisations and other relevant networks.
• Identify opportunities to increase revenue through repeat bookings, new event formats, longer-term agreements, partnerships and additional services.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity, customer feedback and venue performance to inform pricing, product development and sales activity.

Essential Qualifications & Experience: 

• Proven experience of business development, sales, partnership-building or income generation, ideally within a venue, cultural, charitable or heritage setting.
• Proven experience of planning and delivering events end-to-end, on time and within budget. Working with teams on a varied programme of activities for a diverse mix of audiences.
• Experience of working with volunteers running workshops and events, overseeing all aspects of delivery.
• Experience working with external partners, including community groups, local authorities and sponsors.
• Line management experience of an events team, including support with managing workload and personal development objectives.
• Experience of identifying new clients, generating leads, converting enquiries and developing repeat business or longer-term client relationships.
• Experience of using data, customer insight or market research to inform sales activity, pricing, service development or income targets.
• Experience in the charitable, cultural, or heritage sector preferred.

The postholder will be responsible for the day-to-day finance of Rainbow Haven. Tasks include managing the day-to-day finance system and records; producing regular and accurate financial reports.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Financial support

1. Production of timely and accurate monthly management accounts.

2. Prepare rolling monthly cash flow reports.

3. Manage the organisations different funding streams.

5. Work with the CEO to create finance reports for funders and donors.

6. Work with the CEO to create reports and present financial records to external auditors, the finance committee and TEMCA Board as required.

7. Manage and reconcile bank accounts.

9. Balance Sheet reconciliation work.

10. Maintaining accurate petty cash, supplier invoices and online payments via the QuickBooks online system.

About Rainbow Haven

Rainbow Haven is based in Gorton, Manchester. We are a community service for refugees, asylum seekers and other migrants needing support. We have a weekly open-access advice drop-in session, with follow-on appointments.  At our drop-in sessions we welcome people to our centre and offer advice and information, hot lunches and social/well-being activities.  We offer a range of other well-being, educational and social activities, including classes in digital skills and ESOL and other targeted support to help people into further education or employment; and opportunities for particularly isolated groups such as new mothers, to connect with each other and with relevant professional services. 

Our service users come from many different countries and speak many languages.

We receive funding from a wide range of charitable foundations, from local authorities and through partnerships with other local charities in the sector. 

Rainbow Haven is a project of The East Manchester Community Association (registered charity 1131060).

Our friendly staff team has 10 permanent members.  We also offer short-term ‘Apprentice’ placements so that people new to the country can have a first experience of working in the UK. We have over 40 volunteers who play a vital role in delivering our services; many volunteers move on to further training and employment.  We host social work students on placements who work with our advice team,

Key responsibilities

• Lead income generation, driving the team to achieve an annual target of £1.25m+ and developing a strong, sustainable pipeline of trusts, foundations, statutory and lottery funding.

• Manage and develop the team, setting targets and KPIs, allocating opportunities effectively, and providing coaching, support and constructive feedback.

• Build and nurture funder relationships, identifying new prospects, developing tailored stewardship plans, and representing the RHN through meetings, visits and presentations.

Job Purpose: 

Still in its original Fleet Street location, our historic building retains much of its 1890s character, reflecting over a hundred years of history while providing 21st century facilities. With six floors, St Bride Foundation is a unique and memorable setting for a range of events - lectures, workshops, board meetings, conferences, weddings and other celebrations.

The Operations Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day operation of St Bride Foundation, helping to ensure our historic building is safe, compliant, well maintained and welcoming.

Working closely with the Operations Manager and Facilities Coordinator, you'll provide support across facilities management while also acting as a welcoming first point of contact for visitors, tenants and contractors.  Key Responsibilities: 

Operational Administration

• Provide administrative support to the Operations Manager and Facilities Coordinator across all aspects of facilities management including planned preventative maintenance programmes and reactive maintenance requests.
• Liaise with Facilities Coordinator to ascertain what jobs can be completed in-house and what needs an external contractor.
• Obtain quotations for maintenance, repairs and improvement works from contractors and suppliers.
• Arrange contractor visits, coordinate access and ensure works are completed to the required standard.
• Ensure contractors provide appropriate documentation, including risk assessments, method statements and insurance certificates where required.

• Research and identify suitable grant and funding opportunities from charitable trusts, foundations, and statutory bodies.
• Work collaboratively with LDHAS Manager and colleagues to gather accurate, up-to-date data and service information for applications.

Planning and organisation skills

•  Contributes to LDHAS's long-term income generation plans.
• Manage a pipeline of applications and submissions, ensuring deadlines are met and income targets are tracked.
• Manage LDHAS’s bid writing schedule ensuring effective systems and accountability.
• Support development of strong internal bid and grant management systems, including templates, case studies, and project reporting tools.
• Monitor success rates and provide monthly performance reporting.

Client care

• Assist clients during incidental contacts.
• Provide general, non-clinical advice to clients.
• Provide general advice tomembers of public contacting LDHAS.

Responsibilities for policy and service development

•  Lead on Bid writing policy and procedure development.
• Proposes changes to improve LDHAS practice, policies and action plans.

 Responsibilities for Finance / physical resources

• Ensure equipment required for the role is appropriate and used safely.
• Manage finances associated with the role.

Responsibility for human resources

• Demonstrate own duties to other staff
• Promote a positive and supportive culture.

Responsibility for information resources

• Production of monthly and quarterly management reports to senior management.
• Preparation of year-end status report.

Research and development

• Assist with audits as required and ensure regulatory compliance

• To actively participate in continued professional development to develop new skills, maintain and update existing skills and embrace the concept of Lifelong Learning.
• To identify appropriate training opportunities in line with identified needs.
• To be responsible for own continuing professional development and maintaining own professional registration maintaining a professional portfolio and demonstrating evidence of reflective practice. 
• To undertake mandatory training and attend updates and study days as appropriate to the post.

Freedom to act

•  The post holder will have the freedom to take action based on own interpretation of broad professional policies, new developments, emerging evidence. The postholder will advise the Board seeking advice as necessary.
