Finance Director

The ideal candidate

The role

The Finance Director will play a pivotal role in ensuring Action Together remains financially robust, sustainable, and compliant as a charity and employer. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will partner closely with the CEO and Board to shape a resilient business model, strengthen financial governance, and provide strategic direction that supports our mission and values.

You will lead and develop a high performing finance function, oversee annual budgeting and long‑term financial planning, and ensure high‑quality financial insight is available to the CEO, SLT and Board. The Finance Director has responsibility for the production of monthly accounts package, annual audit and statutory accounts, risk management, payroll assurance, investment strategy, and organisational compliance with Companies House, the Charity Commission, and all financial governance requirements.

You will play an integral role in supporting strong governance, working closely with the Treasurer and Board to provide clear, timely, and insightful financial performance updates, forecasts, and risk assessments.

You will also work with the Treasurer to shape investment strategy, strengthen financial controls, and uphold governance across all statutory, regulatory, and organisational requirements

The Role 
 
As Deputy Shop Manager at our Richmond Shop you will manage the day-to-day operation of the shop in the absence of the Shop Manager, including managing a team of volunteers, ensuring accurate accounting and handling of assets, delivering high standards of customer service, and adhering to all charity policies and procedures. You will lead by example and ensure that volunteers, supporters, donors, and customers understand how their contributions are making a difference to the lives of people in Yorkshire and beyond. 

Specifically, you will: 

• Play an active part in running our shop in Richmond, supporting the Shop Manager in implementing processes and ways of working.

• Provide cover for days off, holidays and sickness as required, with possible occasional travel to other shops to provide support if needed by the charity. 

• Support the Shop Manager to maximise the income and profit of the shop through active stock management, replenishment, and rotation. 

• Manage a team of well-trained volunteers in the absence of the Shop Manager and take every effort to create a positive retail environment. 

• Ensure there are sufficient volunteers to support the effective operation of the shop during all opening hours. 

• Support the Shop Manager to ensure the shop is presented to the highest standards with attractive visual merchandising and attractive window displays. 

• Support the Shop Manager to ensure that all charity policies, shop standards and operating procedures are communicated effectively to all volunteers and are maintained and followed in a consistent manner. 

• Support the Shop Manager to ensure accurate accounting and handling of assets (items donated and money received). 

• Support the Shop Manager to ensure accurate record keeping of items donated and the amount paid for each item for Gift Aid tax reclaim purposes.

About You 

To be considered for this role, you will need:

The Role

Specifically, you will be responsible for: 

• Running the department commercially, including display and merchandising, stock management and generation, maintaining shop standards, layout of store and opening and closing of store.  

• Supporting the management team in delivering ambitious sales targets whilst maintaining shop standards, commerciality and compliance.  

• Assuming Duty Manager responsibility in the absence of the store management team.

• Opening and closing the store if required as duty manager and responding to alarm call-outs as a listed key holder if required.

• Working a flexible shift pattern to reflect the business needs, including weekends and pre-retailing hours.

• Support in managing the sales and profit of the Superstore and where possible exceeding agreed targets across categories (Donated stock, cash, benchmark gift aid, average selling price, sell through, stock processing).

As Temporary Shop Manager of Scope’s Aylesbury shop, you’ll have the autonomy to run the shop with creativity and flair. Every day is different

In this role, you’ll lead a team of paid colleagues and volunteers, offering clear guidance, encouragement, and development. Using your experience and management skills, you’ll help grow sales while making sure every customer and donor enjoys a welcoming and inclusive shop experience. In this role you will:

· Ensure shop sales performance is maximised, actively seeking ways to improve the shop’s performance on a continuous basis.

· Manage all aspects of stock collection and preparation; ensuring that stock processing levels are sufficient to achieve required shop floor density, encouraging stock donations at all times. Also support our online selling with identifying suitable items and listing on online selling platforms

· Recruit, manage and develop paid colleagues and volunteers within Scope’s HR and operational policies and procedures and build a strong team

· Work collaboratively with the Assistant Shop Manager

About you

As Shop Manager you’ll be passionate about retail and have a love of fashion with experience of running a shop, or you’ll be looking for a management role as the next step in your career.

To be successful in this role, you will :

· Previous experience as either a Retail Shop Manager, Assistant Manager, or a Supervisor looking to step up, ideally in retail or charity shops.

· Commercially aware and able to spot opportunities

· Be able to lead and support people

· Customer-focused, with a can-do attitude

· A team player with strong work ethic

· Accurate and detail-oriented

· IT literate and numeracy skills

Our shops are the face of our retail brand, run by a dedicated, creative and passionate bunch of superstars. Focusing on sustainable fashion, engaging with local communities and leading our volunteers to deliver a great colleague and customer experience, we raise much needed funds to deliver an Equal Future for disabled people and their families. 

Shop hours

Scope shops are open every day. Some weekend and Bank Holiday cover is needed.

Full-time: 35 hours per week, five days out of seven

Part-time: Weekly hours on a seven-day rota

Location

Role Purpose: 

You will be responsible for Community, Events and local Corporate fundraising across the Nottinghamshire Region. You will deliver excellent stewardship to supporters and volunteers and develop relationships with key local contacts who can help to further Jerry Green Dog Rescue’s mission.

You will collaborate with colleagues across the wider charity to ensure you are offering the best possible supporter experience. You will attend local events with, and through, volunteers, work with colleague in our retail sites, and spot other opportunities to promote Jerry Green Dog rescue in your community and drive support for our work.

Key Outputs & Tasks:

Community Fundraising

- Identify, engage and steward individual and group supporters, developing strategies to promote fundraising activities and grow income from your local area.

- Proactively pursue local business partnership opportunities, developing a pipeline of potential corporate support and making applications to secure support.

- Provide high quality stewardship of individual supporters, groups and businesses within the community, responding to enquiries in a timely way and ensuring relationships are developed and maintained at a high standard.

- Represent Jerry Green Dog Rescue as the first point of contact within the community for Nottinghamshire, promoting our mission, vision, and values alongside fundraising and volunteering opportunities.

- Ensure that the fundraising CRM is up-to-date and develop regular reporting mechanisms to inform the Volunteering and Community Fundraising Manager of outputs and results, and support understanding of local audiences.

- Act as a champion for fundraising compliance across the organisation, ensuring adherence to relevant legislative requirements.

Volunteering

- Work with the Volunteering and Community Fundraising Manager and Volunteering Assistant to recruit, induct and train volunteers to support fundraising and other relevant initiatives in the local community.

- Work collaboratively with the wider organisation to recognise and celebrate volunteers that support the charity.

Other duties

- Contribute content for marketing communications including; social media, newsletters, local media to support marketing objectives and increase our engagement with potential supporters.

- Keep up to date with sector trends and developments in community fundraising and volunteering.

- Work collaboratively and purposefully with your team and the wider department and organisations to build strong working relationships and to be an internal ambassador for Fundraising and Marketing.  

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

· A target-driven and tenacious professional with some experience in community or corporate fundraising, or a similar role with transferable skills in relationship building.

· Entrepreneurial, with a drive to seek out new opportunities to drive income generation and pursue them with a continual eye on hitting KPIs and targets.

· A positive approach to your work and supporting your colleagues to achieve shared objectives.

· Knowledgeable about your local community.

· Organised, with a keen eye for detail and a confidence in managing competing priorities effectively.

· A credible and clear communicator, with a love for building relationships with charity supporters.

· A willingness to travel across the Nottinghamshire region, and to attend face-to-face meetings with your team as required.

The Role

The CEO will be accountable to the talented and committed Board of Trustees and be responsible for the overall strategic management, leadership, and development of Harrogate Neighbours. Duties will include:

• Ensuring the development and implementation of integrated strategies across care, housing, operations, finance, marketing and communications, human resources and workforce, information management and technology, estates and performance monitoring, management and reporting.
• Providing overall leadership for Harrogate Neighbours in line with the vision, mission and values agreed by the Board of Trustees.
• Providing strategic leadership for fundraising and income diversification, ensuring the organisation has a sustainable and mixed portfolio of income.
• Developing and maintaining positive collaborative partnership arrangements with commissioners, local authorities, local communities, MPs, the voluntary sector, communities and other key partners and stakeholders.
• Overseeing the financial processes for the organisation and leading delivery of the agreed budgets.

The Compassionate Neighbours Manager will lead the day-to-day running of the Compassionate Neighbours programme across Greenwich and Bexley, helping people nearing the end of life to live as well as they can for as long as they can through meaningful community connection. This includes managing the Compassionate Neighbours Coordinator and ensuring the successful delivery, growth, and sustainability of the programme.
