High Trees Community Development Trust is seeking an ambitious Head of Community Research & Impact to join our senior management team and lead one of our core service areas.

Community-led research sits at the heart of how High Trees works. Our approach aims to rebalance the role and power that communities have in deciding how research is informed, delivered and used to improve lives for Lambeth residents. Over recent years we have built a strong foundation for this work and developed two flagship community research partnerships — the Lambeth Peer Action Collective and the Lambeth Community Research Network. We are now looking for someone to significantly expand this work: building local evidence of community need, working with communities to identify solutions and appropriate responses to local challenges, and advocating for change to policy and practice where needed.

This is a broad and varied leadership role. Alongside our direct research programmes, you will lead the development of infrastructure around community-led research in Lambeth, so that voluntary and community sector (VCS) organisations can access the training, resources and networks they need to design and deliver their own research. You will also lead our Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning and Communications functions, ensuring the impact of everything we do is understood, evidenced and communicated well.

As Head of Community Research & Impact, you will:

• Lead and inspire our Research & Impact team to deliver high-quality, community-led research that drives change.
• Shape and deliver High Trees’ strategic vision for community-led research, championing collaborative research practice across Lambeth.
• Take the lead on designing new research programmes, support with sourcing the funding to run them, and ensuring projects are completed to a high standard with high-quality outputs.
• Grow the infrastructure for community-led research locally, including through the Lambeth Community Research Network and the Lambeth Peer Action Collective.
• Support VCS organisations with community research training, resources and capacity building support.
• Lead and embed Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) and Communications across High Trees and our partnership work.

Individual giving

• Achieve a personal income target from small to mid-level donors including through our supporter scheme, campaigns and POS donations
• Take responsibility for HOME’s low to mid-level supporter programme, ensuring strong stewardship and donor retention, and consistent delivery of supporter scheme benefits, including a year-round programme of events – supported administratively by the Development Assistant
• Deliver consistent recruitment and upgrade activity for the programme, supported administratively by the Development Assistant and making use of automation
• Be responsible for delivering donation campaigns, including planning, writing copy and training the Customer Service Team (CST) in making the ask. Collaborate with the Marketing Team to promote campaigns on social media and by email

People and Team Leadership

• Line manage the Fundraising Manager, providing regular supervision, support, and performance development

• Lead the planning and delivery of all-hands meetings and team development programmes, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture

• Maintain oversight of team resource mapping, ensuring capacity is well-managed across the organisation

Impact and Evaluation

• Lead the design and ongoing development of Routes' impact evaluation framework, ensuring it captures meaningful data about the difference our work makes

• Oversee the collection, analysis, and interpretation of impact data throughout the year, using findings to inform programme development and organisational decision-making

Income Generation

• Support the Fundraising Manager with grant applications, funder relationships, and income generation activity as needed

Operations

There are some areas of responsibility that sit under the other Co-CEO, but we would expect the person in this role to maintain some oversight or involvement in to enable smooth co-working between the roles. These are:

• Safeguarding: Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) when required, ensuring Routes meets its safeguarding obligations and that staff and volunteers are appropriately supported

• Finance: Attend and contribute to monthly finance meetings, planned by other Co-CEO, maintaining a clear understanding of the organisation's financial position and flagging any concerns to the Co-CEO and board

• Governance: Attend board meetings, providing updates on areas of responsibility and supporting the board to fulfil its governance function

Person Specification

Experience

• Experience in a senior leadership role within the charity, social enterprise, or public sector

• Demonstrable experience of managing and developing staff, with a coaching and supportive leadership style

• Experience of income generation in a charity or social enterprise context, including either grant fundraising, corporate partnerships, or programme sales

• Experience of designing or overseeing monitoring, evaluation, and learning frameworks and producing reports that communicate impact clearly

• Experience of managing operational and governance responsibilities, including policy development and working with a board

• Experience leading teams in challenging, fast-changing and resource-constrained environments 

• Experience of working with or for communities facing marginalisation, discrimination, or structural disadvantage, and a deep understanding of the barriers refugee and asylum seeking women face in the UK

We are currently seeking a Referrals Officer to join our dedicated team. This is a vital role, processing referrals for residents, maintaining accurate data and contributing to the smooth operation of our service. The postholder will come with or be able to develop a good understanding of risk assessment and management, enabling them to identify risk management concerns and share these with the Referral and Premises Manager at the earliest opportunity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process referrals which have been allocated to the Approved Premises by the Central Referral Unit, ensuring all pre-arrival tasks are completed.
• Liaise with the Referral & Premises Manager regarding any concerns about the suitability of placements.
• Manage resident departures and complete end of placement assessments.

The National Lottery Community Fund is delivering an environmental strategy that will not only help communities we Fund but also identifies us as an exemplar in managing our own environmental impact. It’s an exciting time to join the Fund as the Environmental Officer role will help lead our journey to Net Zero emissions as well as support our Environmental Strategy both internally and externally.  An interest in climate change and an understanding of environmental sustainability in the workplace will be a key part to this role as well as the confidence to bring in new ideas and support engagement of staff.

The role will sit within the Facilities team which helps support all nine of the Fund’s offices which are based in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.

The Environmental Officer role will be varied but some of the key responsibilities are:

• You will be responsible for facilitating the Fund’s efforts to reduce its environmental impact and move towards being a Net Zero organisation. You will lead best practice around environmental sustainability across sites and engage staff to consider their own impact.

• You will support the Fund’s established Climate Action Network, ensuring that they all feel connected to and can contribute to energy and resource savings projects/initiatives/themes.

• You will help with environmental data capture and carbon accounting and reporting on any trends both internally and externally.
   
• You will also provide relevant updates to Senior Management Team (SMT) and work closely with the SMT lead on environmental sustainability, highlighting any issues requiring resolution
   
• The role will mainly be based in one office, but you’ll be required to engage across the Fund and develop communications that will reach all staff.
   
• You may be drawn into any project/team to advise on environmental sustainability.
   
• You will engage with internal and external stakeholders and will support the communication of strong external messages declaring our dedication to working sustainably.

Key responsibilities may include:

• Serve as the Fund’s lead contact for environmental matters, providing advice and maintaining oversight of environmental activity.
• Support the implementation and delivery of the Fund’s Net Zero commitments through effective stakeholder engagement and strategic guidance.
• Coordinate environmental data collection and reporting processes to track performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Draft and coordinate environmental reports, including following guidance for sustainability returns to DCMS and the sustainability report for inclusion within the Annual Report and Accounts.

The candidate for this role should have passion, commitment, and enthusiasm to help deliver our Net Zero targets. They should have good communication skills as well as strong analytical and report writing skills. Previous experience of environmental sustainability within the workplace would be beneficial.

The Outreach Officer plays a key role in raising awareness of services, strengthening community

Our Higher Education (HE) Officer is responsible for our work with universities and other higher education providers, working in partnership with University Geoscience UK (UGUK) and other external bodies, in line with our Education Strategy. Working in partnership with senior staff, our Joint Higher Education Committee (JHEC), and Trustees, you will advance the Society’s aims and objectives with respect to higher education, providing expertise and knowledge to ensure the development of evidence-based programmes of work to support student enrolment and retention with the geosciences.

Today, we are a world-leading communicator of Earth science – through publishing, library and information services, cutting-edge scientific conferences, education activities and outreach to the general public. We also provide impartial scientific information and evidence to support policy-making and public debate about the challenges facing humanity.

We have a membership (Fellowship) of c. 12,000, more than 2,000 of whom are based outside the UK. Approximately 3,000 are Chartered Geologists or Chartered Scientists - professionals who have demonstrated a high level of technical competence in their field and a commitment to professional ethics.

What you’ll be doing …

You will be designing, planning, and delivering projects aimed at improving outcomes for our student members, as well as other geoscience students globally, alongside other key stakeholders, and the wider geoscience community. You will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on activities and progress alongside our JHEC, and contributing to our flagship initiative, ‘This is Geoscience’ focused on student enrolment and careers.

Beyond this, you should expect to be fostering relationships with key stakeholders and external partners to ensure that the Society continues to embed itself as an inclusive and equitable role model with respect to higher education, and leader throughout the wider geoscience community on a global scale.

Overall responsibilities / requirements …

Main responsibilities:

• Manage the implementation and promotion of HE related activities across the Society, aligned with our Education Strategy.
• Ensure that education and careers remain fully linked and part of the Society’s overall strategic vision.
• Work collaboratively with, and support, relevant stakeholders to deliver existing higher education and careers programs.
• To act as the custodian and liaison for Society HE matters, representing the Society externally where required.
• Manage relationships and foster engagement with external HE focused organisations, affiliations, networks, committees and groups.
• Working alongside the wider ‘This is Geoscience’ project team to update and develop resources relating to student recruitment and careers where appropriate, including the management of our relationships with HESA and UCAS for data when required.

Activities:

• Work alongside the Head of Education to develop interventions and outcomes for specific HE strategy objectives as ascribed.
• Review policies and procedures to enhance HE opportunities across the Society, ensuring all relevant guidance documents, policies, and processes are reflective of current legislation and supportive of a culture of inclusion.
• Working alongside the Society’s Accreditation Officer, monitor and report on HE recruitment and accreditation trends within the UK and internationally, reporting key information to relevant stakeholders and identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Working with other team members and external partners, stay abreast of current and emerging trends in the HE landscape to apply and promote initiatives and share best practice.
• Update and develop resources for internal and external stakeholders on key issues and/or developments as appropriate.
• Attend, lead and/or develop meetings relating to higher education and careers where appropriate.

Collaborative working:

• Networking appropriately, maintain and developing relationships with other HE professionals and organisations, sharing best practice and new ideas.
• Lead the coordination of HE related projects with external stakeholders and partners to support the delivery of key deliverables (e.g. UGUK, UK-GSA, ESTA.)
• Attend and provide secretariat support for the Society’s Joint Higher Education sub-committee (JHEC), also reporting into our External Relations Committee where required.
• Policy – working with the Head of Policy and Communications to carry out research with Fellows, partner organisations and other stakeholders in developing HE related consultation responses, briefings, and public statements.
• Events – working with events colleagues to continue our annual Careers Day event, focused on bringing together geoscientists and students from across the disciplines into an engaging and dynamic event.
• Working alongside the rest of the ‘This is Geoscience’ project team at the Society, contribute to the project’s aims and objectives with a particular focus on student recruitment and careers.

Other responsibilities and expectations …

• Attend external training and personal development events to keep abreast of developments HE across the geoscience sector and any changes in relevant legislation or policy.
• Arrange and participate in meetings, conferences, and project team activities where appropriate.
• To ensure that positive working relationships are created with other departments at the Society.
• Undertake other tasks consistent with the role as reasonably required.

• Experience of working with large datasets and distillation of such data into key takeaways.
• Ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to a variety of audiences
• The role may require some travel in the UK, and occasional weekend and evening working, however, agreed out of hours working will be compensated by time off in lieu (TOIL).

Overseen by a Senior Caseworker Manager, you will assess and decide on safeguarding allegations and concerns within the Army Cadets across Scotland and Northern Ireland. Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver patient education sessions across online, in-person and hybrid formats.
• Support the development and delivery of APF’s annual education plan and calendar.
