Job description

Support Worker – Learning Disabilities & Autism

As a Support Worker, you will provide high-quality, person-centred support to individuals with learning disabilities and autism, helping them to live fulfilling, independent and meaningful lives.

You will build positive and trusting relationships with the people we support, understand their individual needs and preferences, and support them to achieve their personal goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate, respectful and person-centred support.

  • Support individuals with daily living activities and developing independent living skills.

  • Encourage and support participation in community, social and recreational activities.

  • Promote choice, dignity, inclusion and independence.

  • Support individuals with communication and emotional wellbeing.

  • Follow individual support plans, risk assessments and safeguarding procedures.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential records.

  • Work closely with families, colleagues and other professionals.

  • Recognise and respond appropriately to changing needs or behaviours.

  • Promote a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment.

  • Support individuals to make their own choices and have greater control over their lives.

  • Attend training and maintain knowledge of good practice in autism, learning disabilities, safeguarding and person-centred support.

About You

We are looking for someone who is caring, patient, reliable and committed to making a positive difference. You should have excellent communication skills, respect individual differences and be able to work effectively as part of a team.

Previous experience supporting people with learning disabilities or autism is desirable, but a willingness to learn, a positive attitude and genuine compassion are equally important.

Join us and help empower people to achieve their goals, build confidence and live life on their own terms.
