Fauna & Flora is seeking a well-organised team player to join the Institutional Funding team and support the delivery of Fauna & Flora’s institutional funding strategy in the fast-evolving external context. Other organisations may call this role Programme Funding Officer / Coordinator; Institutional Funding Officer; Business Development Officer.

Reporting to the Head of Institutional Funding, you will help the organisation keep abreast of the external landscape. This will include leading on researching in-country funding opportunities from institutional sources (such as Defra, FCDO, EU, AFD, climate and environment multilateral funds and multi-donor pooled funds) and producing/maintaining up-to-date briefs on priority donor strategies to support programme teams in both pre-positioning and submissions. You will work across the statutory funding portfolio, critiquing proposals, providing editing and formatting support, and ensuring that all documents produced for donors meet their criteria, as well as follow Fauna & Flora’s approval and submission procedures. In addition, there will be scope to manage smaller bid submissions, engaging directly with colleagues across our conservation programme teams.

Excellent relationship-management and communications skills are essential to the role. The ideal candidate has some experience working with institutional donors and is comfortable pivoting between ongoing research-based tasks and short-term, deadline driven tasks. We are looking for somebody with the ability to analyse complex information and present it in an accessible format, who also enjoys working in a dynamic environment where the ability to respond swiftly to changing organisational and team needs is paramount.

We are looking for a Senior Graphic Designer to join our award-winning Content and Creative team at Friends of the Earth.

You’ll be an experienced designer bursting with creative ideas and passionate about using your skills to tell compelling stories that inspire people to take action. As Project Manager, you will drive day‑to‑day delivery, support local partners, and help build the foundations for long‑term ecological resilience and sustainable rural development across this unique river corridor

You will join our Central & South-eastern Europe and the Balkans programme at a pivotal moment, shaping a new model of cross‑border collaboration for freshwater and karst landscapes. Experience working alongside protected area management and community-based or co-management approaches will also be important. You will be skilled in providing strategic advice and technical input to the design, development, implementation, evaluation and reporting for projects and will have excellent project, grant, financial and people management skills. The role also requires a skilled and credible communicator, who is confident in developing and managing relationships with partner organisations and relevant stakeholders, and able to write donor proposals and reports.

The Woodland Trust is looking for an Engaging Communities Officer to join our exciting Sherwood’s Living Legends project funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund. A development grant has been awarded by Heritage Fund to help the Woodland Trust progress the project over 18-months to apply for a 5-year delivery stage grant. If this application is successful, the project will safeguard the future of ancient and veteran trees in Sherwood Forest and reconnect communities with this iconic landscape. This is a fixed term contract for 18-months, with the potential for an extension. 

The Role: 

• Lead the community-focused development of Sherwood’s Living Legends, shaping how people connect with the cultural, historical and ecological significance of ancient and veteran trees. 
• Co-create imaginative engagement approaches with consultants, using storytelling, heritage and local myth to inspire urban and rural communities.

We are looking for an ecologist to drive forward Biodiversity Enhancement potential in Scotland, helping to ensure this plays a part in bolstering Scotland’s ability to tackle the nature crisis. Sitting at the heart of our operational involvement with Biodiversity Enhancement, this role will help to ensure that Biodiversity Enhancement delivers bigger, better and more joined up nature restoration.  The post holder will work closely with SSEN Transmission and RSPB Scotland teams to find, assess and establish a pipeline of projects for delivery on RSPB Nature Reserves.

This is a 3-year post that can be based anywhere in Scotland and will involve travel across our Scottish reserves.

What's the role about?

The core responsibilities of this role are:

• Assessing on-reserve projects against SSEN Transmission’s Biodiversity Enhancement metric and RSPB Scotland’s existing ecological priorities
• Working closely with both organisations to develop suitable Biodiversity Enhancement projects that deliver priority nature conservation objectives, within the requirements of the Scottish planning system.
• Advising both organisations on ecological aspects of potential projects to maximise nature conservation benefit
• Developing Habitat Management Plans and evaluating the expected ecological performance of projects.
• Identifying habitat management revisions through observation and analysis of ongoing management.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

• Using net gain biodiversity metrics (ideally the SSEN metric) to design tangible habitat restoration projects, and knowledge of their application in a Scottish context.
• Use of UKHab (Phase 1, NVC also desirable) to carry out surveys on a broad range of habitat and species, to a consistent high standard.
• Developing habitat management plans to deliver ecological goals.
• Flexibility and solutions focused - a strong desire and ability to find a way forward when existing approaches aren’t working.
• Collaboration in multi-disciplinary project teams and the skills required to maintain and develop good relations across many stakeholders.
• Personal time management and prioritisation to meet project deadlines and external partner requirements.
• Record keeping and data management using databases/mapping software such as ArcGIS, QGIS and Merlin (RSPB bespoke system), plus standard ecological survey software.
• Written and verbal communication skills to compile metric toolkit assessments, habitat management and restoration plans, monitoring reports, conveying technical information verbally to stakeholders.
• Ability to confidently and safely access and work in remote areas across Scotland. A UK driving licence is essential, as many reserves are not served by public transport.

Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:

• Experience of nature reserve management planning and design of wildlife habitat creation projects, with a good understanding of conservation land management techniques and constraints.
• Knowledge of Scottish designation, wildlife and environmental legislation and planning policy
• Design and delivery of habitat enhancement or restoration schemes
• Monitoring and compliance checks for net gain delivery
• Working within planning or development contexts
• CIEEM membership
• FISC level of 3 and above

• This is a Fixed-Term 3 year, Full time role for 37.5 hours per week.

As a member of the Operations Team, you will ensure the smooth running of Fauna & Flora’s Cambridge headquarters (accommodating circa 200 employees), including responsibility for facilities management, UK Health & Safety and delivery of our Reception function. You will also drive our head office’s environmental and sustainability practices and support Fauna & Flora and its staff across the globe in initiatives to reduce the environmental footprint generated by our work.

Fauna & Flora is based in the David Attenborough Building (DAB) on the New Museums Site, where the University of Cambridge and nine conservation organisations have collaborated to create the Cambridge Conservation Initiative (CCI) – the largest grouping of nature conservation organisations and university researchers in the world. You will therefore not only deal with a wide range of individuals from Fauna & Flora, including our members and supporters, our trustees and your colleagues in the UK and across the globe, but also your counterparts in the other NGOs and the central facilities staff at the DAB, as well as contractors, suppliers and our University landlords.

As the first point of contact for Fauna & Flora, you will be friendly and approachable, confident and articulate. You will have excellent organisational and administrative capabilities, a proactive and pre-emptive approach to your work and well-developed prioritisation and time-management skills. This is a standalone role and you will be comfortable working autonomously with minimal supervision, you will look to avoid problems before they arise, developing and improving office systems when needed and working to ensure that Fauna & Flora’s head office provides a welcoming and efficient working environment for employees and visitors alike.

You will have good relevant experience in an office/facilities management role, or experience where you can demonstrate relevant and transferable skills. Knowledge and experience of health and safety in a UK office environment, including willingness to undertake First Aid and Fire Warden duties, is a requirement of the role (with training provided if these qualifications are not currently held). Knowledge of, and an enthusiasm for, environmental and sustainability issues in an office setting would also be particularly advantageous. Excellent Outlook skills, and strong Word and Excel abilities are essential and previous use of Microsoft SharePoint and Salesforce is also desirable.

About the Role

This senior fundraising role leads the strategy and delivery of high value income including major donors, trusts and foundations, and corporate partnerships.

About the Role

As a Senior Ecologist, you will play a key role in biodiversity monitoring, ecological assessments and nature‑recovery delivery across Norfolk, helping drive the success of NWS while supporting NWT’s wider organisational goals. Your work will include protected species surveys, habitat assessments (including BNG), mitigation design, conservation advice, Ecological Clerk of Works duties and licencing. You will have line management responsibilities (where appropriate), deputise for the Head of Consultancy when needed, and maintain strong client relationships through high‑quality tender writing, reporting, communication and efficient project delivery.

Whether you’re already an experienced Senior Ecologist or ready to take the next step, this role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact, leading projects that enrich Norfolk’s wildlife while providing high‑quality ecological expertise that supports responsible and sustainable development.

We are looking for someone with a degree in ecology (or equivalent), 3 years+ of relevant consultancy experience with associate or full CIEEM membership. We particularly welcome applicants who hold at least one Natural England (or equivalent) protected species licence, ideally Level 2 class licence for bats and Level 1 class licence for great crested newts.

You will thrive in a small, committed team and feel confident engaging with a diverse range of clients and projects. You will ideally have:

• Knowledge of UK environmental legislation and its practical application
• Experience in ecological field surveys, including UKHab and protected species
• Up-to-date understanding of survey guidance
• Strong report-writing skills, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, management plans, Ecological Impact Assessments, Habitat Regulations Assessments and Biodiversity Net Gain
• Previous experience in conservation or ecological consultancy
• A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle with business-use insurance
