The Charity Financial Controller will be a new role for The Christie Charity (Charity) and a fantastic opportunity for an individual looking to work for a fast moving, growing organisation.
We are looking for a collaborative self-starter to take the operational lead of The Christie Charity’s finance function and oversee the financial management of The Christie Charity (Charity) group’s finances (this includes The Christie Charity, The Christie Trading Company Limited, and Northern Pathology Developments Limited), including but not limited to financial reporting, management accounting, and day-to-day financial operations. You will play a key role in building a robust financial control framework across the Charity group, and you will be expected to be hands on with respect to overseeing the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting and supporting the Charity’s aim of maintaining strong governance across both charitable and commercial operations.
This post would suit an individual who enjoys working in a dynamic, evolving environment, where responsibilities may shift in response to organisational priorities. The postholder must be comfortable navigating ambiguity, demonstrating flexibility, initiative, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Additional information
Previously managed under a service level agreement with The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, financial management has now been fully transitioned in-house, and day-to-day operations are in the process of being transitioned into the organisation with a view to strengthen independent control and governance. This provides an excellent opportunity for the postholder to be involved in transformational projects geared towards improving the finance department’s technological infrastructure and resources to adapt to the fast-growing needs of the Charity.

Role: Executive Assistant

Job Purpose
The Executive Assistant will provide administrative and internal and external stakeholder management support to the Executive Director. The role will also provide some support to the Director of Finance and Administration, and the wider team.
Eligible candidates should be extremely organised, have excellent communication and the confidence to independently manage a wide variety of tasks and stakeholders. They must have relevant experience in supporting executive roles and be enthusiastic and proactive in completing a wide variety of vital tasks independently.
The position will be hybrid, with 3 days per week (Tues-Thurs) based in Oceana’s UK offices in Newquay, Cornwall or Paddington, London. Regular national, and occasional international, travel will be required to meet team members and stakeholders in geographically diverse locations, including Washington, DC.

Responsibilities
- Support the ED to align time, attention and decision-making with organisational priorities, ensuring focus on high-impact work.
- Provide diary support to the Executive Director, including coordination of meetings, focus-time, effective travel planning, and other cross-team calendar management.
- Provide inbox management support to the Executive Director, assisting with task and diary prioritisation.
- Provide administrative support to the Executive Director, including travel bookings, expense reporting, and credit card statement reconciliations.
- Act as the first point of contact for the organization, including monitoring and responding to email inbox.
- Provide a liaison point between the ED and senior leaders, staff, and external stakeholders, ensuring timely follow-up, actions, and clear communication.
- Proatively coordinate and manage correspondence, briefings, meeting memos, departmental reports, and presentations on behalf of the Executive Director, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and alignment with the ED’s voice.
- Attend meetings to capture notes and follow up actions, ensuring these are circulated and completed.
- Use a high degree of tact, judgment, and strong interpersonal skills to address timely correspondence, minimizing handling by the Executive Director.
- Manage occasional internal and external events (in-person and virtual), including planning and managing vendors, venues, online platforms, guestlists and invites, run of shows.
- Organise and manage external, departmental and international meetings, including scheduling, drafting agendas, taking notes, reviewing action items, and maintaining relevant documents.
- Follow up on assignments given by the Executive Director to direct reports and provide the Executive Director with periodic updates.
- Support the coordination of campaign and fundraising tasks including mailouts, guestlists, reports, updates, as required.
- Arrange couriers, order office supplies, and support the Director of Finance and Administration with other office administration as required.
- Support effective functioning of the UK leadership team, by scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and assisting with leadership travel bookings.
- Support Director of Finance and Administration with co-ordination of occasional full team events, and manage team travel bookings for international meetings.
- Assist the Director of Finance and Administration with other general financial, office and HR administration tasks.
- Travel occasionally, both nationally and internationally, to meet with team members and wider internal and external stakeholders.
- Other responsibilities as appropriate and necessary to achieve organisational objectives.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional experience in executive assistant roles (essential), ideally with some experience and understanding of an NGO or Not For Profit working environment.
- Alongside required professional experience, proven relevant training courses and certifications will be advantageous, e.g. IEAA, Prince 2 or equivalent.
- Excellent computer skills, including confident proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Outlook, Powerpoint and Excel.
- Demonstrable experience in project delivery and project management methods.
- Some previous experience of events planning and management is preferred.
- Ability to represent Oceana UK in a professional, diplomatic, and responsive manner.
- Excellent written and verbal communication with wide ranging internal and external stakeholders, and ability to communicate on behalf of executive leadership with clarity and credibility.
- Must be friendly and enthusiastic team member, confident and motivated to build strong relationships across the team.
- Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.

Job Purpose
The Communications Lead will:
- Build brand awareness and help to ensure the TLC: Talk, Listen, Change Group brands are accurately and consistently represented at all times. In particular, ensure consistency in messaging and tone of voice for each brand and when communicating about the Group as a whole.

Copywriting and Content Creation
- Lead the creation of compelling written copy and marketing assets for a range of audiences and platforms to support the needs of colleagues across the TLC Group – including but not limited to: Engaging, persuasive and impactful sales pitches and proposals, Annual report, Case studies, Key messages, Quotes, Digital and printed collateral, Social and web content and assets, Press releases, Speeches, News articles.and other marketing materials
- Develop creative ways for this to build brand awareness, market services and facilities, communicate programmes, activities and impact.
Media and PR
- Lead on developing relations with media, generating and placing stories, and generating PR.
- Create media content including stories for press and publications
- Contribute to the identification and management of reputational and other communications and marketing-related risks. Social channels

- Collaborate with our staff teams to ensure all our engagements are on brand and on message.
Website
- Take responsibility for the development and management of all written aspects of the website, including generating content, maximising its potential and monitoring its impact. Fundraising and Influencing Work with the Development Team to:
- Produce regular supporter newsletters, mailings, reports and other content to engage with relevant stakeholders
- Lead the development of messaging, copy and content to support fundraising propositions, campaigns and events
- Help create and test high-level campaign / proposition messaging and lead the development of supporter copy for a range of applications and channels
- Create impactful and persuasive pieces to support with influencing.
Internal Communications
- Work alongside the Creative Design Lead and Director of Business Services to further develop our internal communications streams.
- Craft organisation-wide announcements and produce organisation-wide communications in the form of (including but not limited to): - Newsletter, Lunch and learn sessions, with an aim of 6 taking place each year, Podcast (aim of once a month), You Said, We Did communications, CEO video messages, Updates on staff group / network activities, Internal events, including town halls and ‘coffee and cake’
- Support with the organisation of our annual TLC Group staff conference.
General
- Ensure marketing collateral is compliant, factually correct and internal charity practices are followed (e.g. GDPR, photo consent, claim substantiation, budgeting).
- Work with the Group Head of Marketing, Marketing Manager and Creative Design Lead to prepare, monitor and report on the annual Marketing and Communications budget.

Freedom for Animals is one of the UK's longest-running animal rights organisations. Since 1957, we have been working to end the exploitation of animals through undercover investigations, research, campaigns, political lobbying, education and grassroots activism. We’re seeking a Prospect Research Manager to join our collaborative Philanthropy and Partnerships team. This is an exciting new role in the team as we invest in building our high value pipelines across trusts, foundations, major donors and corporates.
We have worked with a consultant to lay the foundations for a new to the organisation prospect research function. Over the last five years, our database has grown considerably, offering a strong opportunity to enhance our prospect research. We are looking for a full-time member of the team to take this work forward, embed an insight led approach to prospect research and work with the team to effectively manage pipelines and grow income.
The Prospect Research Manager will play a critical role in driving the organisation’s growth by prioritising the identification and development of new prospects and building a strong, sustainable pipeline.
