Head of event jobs

In this role you will deliver FSSW’s FareChance programme, including running employability workshops and practical logistics sessions. You will also provide 1-1 support for young people where required and signposting and referrals to other specialist services and career pathways. You will bring your passion and experience in supporting people to achieve their goals and be sensitive to the inequality and power imbalance faced by young people.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Programme Delivery

• Lead the delivery of practical warehouse activity sessions for active participants and taster sessions for potential participants
• Work with the Operations and Volunteer teams to ensure smooth integration of our participants and the programme
• Support the Employability Programme Manager to deliver Employability/Life skills workshops e.g. Interview/Communication skills, CV/Cover letter writing
• Work with the Employability Programme Manager to build an individualised plan and set of goals for each young person
• Identify specific needs and risks, liaising with senior colleagues, create and maintain risk assessments with individuals to ensure safety in the workplace

Programme Development

• Work with the Employability Programme Manager and FareChance participants around coproduction opportunities that impact on the delivery, development and evaluation of the programme
• Work with the Volunteer Team to ensure smooth transitions to and from FareChance to Volunteering where applicable
• Work with the Operations team to identify ways we can expand FareChance practical sessions to support day-to-day running of the hub and build further transferable skills
• Support young people to engage with internships within FSSW
• External partnerships and relationship building
• On occasion attend events or appointments to support recruitment/represent FSSW
• Attend a range of career away days as part of the FareChance programme
• Support the fundraising team in providing updates for employability funders
• Support the Employability Programme Manager to broaden ‘Next Step’ relationships and referral partnerships

Reporting and Administration

• Maintain quality records of all participant information, including interventions with project participants, ensuring that such data is stored within the requirements of the Data Protection Act and FSSW policies and procedures
• Work alongside the Head of Employability and Volunteering around any incidents or safeguarding concerns. Signpost to external agencies where appropriate
• Work with the fundraising and communications teams on internal and external reporting for FareChance, including gathering quantitative and qualitative data

Primary Purpose:

The Service Manager works as part of the Charity Operations team and has operational responsibility for the sustainability and development of a range of existing services, developing new service opportunities and taking an active part in influencing change and improvement on behalf of older people..

Main Duties:

• Participate in joint decision making as a member of the services management team in both strategic and operational planning.
• In-line with the organisation’s strategy, prepare an annual plan of activity for all areas of responsibility identifying resource implications.

What the job involves 

We’re looking for a Healthcare Improvement Officer to join our Improvement Programmes Team and help us deliver exciting initiatives that support healthcare professionals to improve prostate cancer services across the UK. Examples of projects supported include work around establishing better Active Surveillance so that more men can avoid unnecessary radical treatment; work to restructure and make faster the diagnostic pathway; work to coordinate with primary care and support earlier diagnosis; new surgical procedures that spare men the burden of incontinence. You can read more about our work on our website. 

As Healthcare Improvement Officer, you’ll play a central role in making sure our programmes run smoothly and have maximum impact. You’ll oversee on the logistics and delivery of events across the UK and online, from our Clinical Champions Programme and Clinical Advisory Group meetings to our annual healthcare professional conference. You’ll also oversee recruitment for programmes, manage databases and monitoring systems, and handle financial processes such as invoices and purchase orders, ensuring everything is delivered on time and to a high standard. 

Your work will range from planning and scheduling programmes, to procuring resources, preparing materials and helping to facilitate sessions so that participants are fully supported in their learning. You’ll also contribute to quality improvement project development and coordination, working with teams across Prostate Cancer UK to share good practice and expand the reach of our initiatives. 

Engagement will be a key part of your role, from maintaining webpages and digital channels to supporting our alumni network through newsletters, communications and opportunities for continued involvement. You’ll help manage our online Clinical Champions learning hub and, with training provided, will also have the chance to coach and mentor clinicians using Insights Discovery (a psychometric tool helping people understand their own and others' behavioural preferences and communication styles).  

What we want from you 

We’re looking for someone who’s highly organised, comfortable working with people and able to keep several projects moving at once. Strong communication skills are essential, both written and verbal, with the ability to adapt your style to suit different audiences, from clinicians to colleagues across the organisation. 

You’ll bring experience in event planning and support, along with project coordination, and you’ll be comfortable managing webpages and creating online content. The role involves building and maintaining strong relationships with a range of stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, colleagues and senior leaders, so collaboration will be second nature to you.

Budget Management

• With the Head of Comms & Individual Giving, set annual budgets and programmes of activity, actively monitoring performance against these and adapting approach as necessary

About the Role.  

We are investing in our Fundraising and Development team to deliver an ambitious 5-year fundraising strategy. The Trusts and Philanthropy Manager is pivotal in securing philanthropic support from trusts and foundations, legacies, major donors, and corporate partners.

 
Over the strategy period you will be responsible for developing annual trust and grant income to £500,000+, by securing grants of five figures and above and gaining multi-year donations.Using your experience in creating strong cases for support, including unrestricted costs, and pipeline development, you will work with two part-time colleagues to increase annual income from major donors, legacies and corporate partners to £250,000+ (excluding exceptional legacy gifts). 

With curiosity, you will identify funding opportunities and reach new audiences. You will thrive on building strong, long-lasting relationships, cultivating donors through verbal and written communications, and managing stewardship events.

As a senior manager, you will have budget responsibility, report regularly, and mitigate under performance.You will ensure joined-up planning and delivery, developing fundraising relationships across income streams, and you will enjoy line management, collaborating with others, and leading project groups to deliver targets on deadlines. 

A typical week is expected to include at least 2 days from our Wolseley Head Office, 1-2days in Staffordshire to secure new support and meet donors, the remaining time worked remotely, with flexibility as required.

We’re on a mission to connect with thousands more bereaved military families and that starts with storytelling.We believe that ‘social’ media is in the past and what is needed today is ‘interest’ media – great content that engages its target audience has the potential to reach more people than a high follow count.As Content Creator, you’ll be our expert in creating great content, capturing the emotion, personality, and purpose behind everything we do. 

This is a fast-paced, highly proactive role focused on creating short-form video and photo content for social media. You’ll attend events, follow team members in action, and use your creative instincts to turn everyday moments into compelling content that resonates with our unique audience. We’re not looking for slick corporate videos, we want quick-turnaround, on-brand, authentic content that stops the scroll and builds trust. 

The key responsibilities of this role are:  

Content Creation 

• Film and edit short-form video content (e.g. Instagram Reels, TikToks, Stories etc) for use across Scotty’s social channels. 

• Capture and edit photography when needed, particularly from in-person events and outreach activity, often on the go. 

• Work proactively to identify and attend opportunities to film team members and events (e.g. corporate talks, family days, community activity). 

• Jump on relevant trends and moments, adapting them to fit the tone, audience, and sensitivity of our cause. 

• Create great content which will educate or entertain our target audiences (within the bereaved military community). 

Editing & Tools 

• Use tools like CapCut, Canva, InShot, Adobe Premiere Rush, or iPhone editing apps to deliver content quickly and efficiently.

Individual Giving Strategy & Income Growth

· Lead the development and delivery of a long-term Individual Giving strategy, covering regular giving, donations, legacies and celebration giving.

· Drive donor acquisition, retention, upgrade and reactivation activity.

· Develop and implement robust, donor-centric stewardship pathways to maximise engagement and lifetime value.

Who We Are Looking For:
