We have an opportunity for an Income officer to join our Customer Accounts team in Bristol.

This is a Part Time role working 22.5 hours per week, on a fixed term basis until June 2027.

The starting salary is £19,459 - 23,108 depending on experience.

Wednesday is the Teams day in the office, but we can be flexible with your working pattern between our working hours of 8.30am and 5.00pm.

The role:

As an Income Officer you'll carry out a range of tasks including negotiating payment arrangements with customers, providing welfare benefit and money advice and preparing applications for court. You'll be on standby to visit customers in their home as well as occasionally attending court hearings.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering a comprehensive rent & service charge collection service across the region
• Monitoring customer accounts for all tenures
• Managing end to end processes
• Engaging with external agencies including local authorities when needed
• Managing evictions

To be successful in this role you'll need:

• Experience in income management or debt recovery/collection is advantageous, but not essential
• Knowledge and experience of either social housing, home ownership or the private rented sector
• Excellent customer service skills
• A working knowledge of welfare benefits
• To be a self-starter with a proactive approach and possess the ability to work without close supervision
• To have effective decision-making skills, a diplomatic and confidential approach and the ability to prioritise a busy workload.

As you'll need to travel in this role, having a car and full driving licence is essential.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Sussex Community Housing Hub team in providing technical advice and support to communities engaged in rural and community led housing projects.

The role

This is a senior, externally facing post reporting to the Chief Executive. You'll manage a caseload of community-led housing projects, lead a small team of advisors, and work in partnership with communities, parish councils, housing associations, local authorities, landowners, and developers across East and West Sussex.

You'll also play a part in shaping Druv Homes, AirS's emerging housing association.

What you'll be doing

• Guiding community groups through all stages of the housing development process — from vision and site identification through to planning, funding, and scheme delivery
• Advising on site selection, RP partnerships, planning applications, S106 agreements, and funding strategies (both capital and revenue)
• Building and managing relationships with a wide range of partners — communities, RPs, local authorities, planners, developers, and agents
• Supporting communities to access funding and drafting bids where needed
• Overseeing professional advisers (architects, engineers, etc.) commissioned by community groups

What we're looking for

Essential:

• At least 5 years' experience in affordable housing development
• A relevant degree (surveying, building, business management or equivalent experience)
• Proven track record in project management and scheme delivery
• Experience working with local authorities, RPs, and community organisations
• Team management experience
• Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills

Desirable:

• Experience of rural affordable housing and community-led models e.g. Community Land Trusts (CLTs)

Practical

The role is based in Lewes with hybrid working. Regular but infrequent travel across East and West Sussex is required — a driving licence or equivalent transport access is essential.

As Service Manager, you will lead Visiting Housing Support services in South West Edinburgh. 

You’ll lead a team of eight staff and support people who are homeless, at risk of homelessness or in unsuitable accommodation. The support will focus on empowering people to sustain their tenancies and live well in stable housing. 

You’ll be managed by the Head of Services and work within a peer group of 7 other managers across the organisation. This service is delivered in partnership with Right There and you’ll work with colleagues across the partnership, sharing a responsibility to develop and embed our partnership approach. 

Overview 

This service is commissioned by City of Edinburgh Council and is in year 2 of a 10 year contract. Your team will support 300-400 people each year through phone support, direct meetings in people’s homes, running drop in sessions and visiting shared houses and other temporary accommodation. Your team will help people understand how to bid for housing; help them access benefits; signpost services to help them with additional concerns including mental health support; and, when the time comes, your team will support them to set up their tenancy in a sustainable way.

Leading a team 

You will lead and line manage a team of eight practitioners and administrative support creating a high-performing, values-led culture where staff feel motivated, supported, and clear in their roles.

• You will provide constructive feedback in real time as well as supporting staff through performance conversations, annual appraisals, and coaching. And, you’ll build a resilient team that can manage complexity, deliver high-quality support, and respond appropriately to safeguarding and risk.

Delivering the service 

You are responsible for all aspects of service delivery, from referral to sign off and everything in between. 

• You will generate referrals and oversee the referrals we receive, ensuring they are appropriate for our service and allocated on the basis of need and capacity. Through regular case reviews and audits, you will ensure practice is trauma informed and focused on outcomes. 
• You will lead on compliance and reporting, using internal and external systems to track performance and report on contractual requirements. You will use our case management system In-Form to ensure accurate, up-to-date recording that clearly evidences support, progress, and outcomes.
• You will manage a budget for expenses, training and project costs.
• You will ensure compliance with Care Inspectorate and SSSC standards, maintaining strong casework quality, accurate recording, and effective reporting across the service. 
• You will be the lead on safeguarding and managing risk, supporting staff to manage complex situations safely, with appropriate escalation and shared responsibility. 
• You will use data and learning to strengthen performance, drive improvements, and embed a consistent, high-quality approach across the service.

Partnership working 

Partnership working is key to the success of this role and this service. You’ll play a key role in developing partnerships and continuously improving the service—working closely service providers in the local area, the local authority and other stakeholder to strengthen collaboration, identify opportunities to provide support, and drive better outcomes for the people facing homelessness. 

The key partnership however, is the relationship with Right There.

Four Square work with Right There to deliver visiting housing support in the West of the city. Right There are the lead partner and provide the service in the North West, while Four Square operate in the South West. We share some resources and benefit from the support and guidance of a Locality manager based in Right There. This is year two of a ten-year partnership and you will work with colleagues in Four Square and Right There to enhance the partnership and reap the benefits of cross organisation working. 

Three of your team are employed by Right There and you’ll work to ensure seamless management of these staff. You’ll also lead and participate in joint training as well as reporting performance into the partnership.

If you’re driven by supporting meaningful change for people involved in the criminal justice system, this could be the ideal role for you. As a Housing Interventions Officer, you’ll be based primarily at HMP Parc, working side-by-side with Probation resettlement colleagues and directly with men in custody and on release. Occasional travel to HMP Cardiff, Swansea, Usk or Prescoed may be required depending on service need. You’ll deliver housing-focused interventions that prevent homelessness, improve access to accommodation and support successful resettlement into the community.

• Deliver 1-to-1 housing advice and interventions within the prison environment
• Complete holistic housing needs assessments and develop clear, structured action plans
• Prevent homelessness by securing and sustaining suitable accommodation
• Source private rented accommodation (HMOs, shared housing, studios and 1-beds)

Job Title: Housing Independent Gender Violence Advocate (Housing IGVA)

Location: The GAIA Centre (Lambeth, London)
Salary: £29,701.36 per annum (Inclusive of London Weighting, which may not be applicable depending on your home location and any agreed permanent homeworking arrangement)

The Housing Independent Gender Violence Advocate (IGVA) will be embedded within borough housing teams to facilitate the dual working that will ensure that survivors’ safety and housing needs are met. This includes:

· Close working relationships with Housing colleagues 

· Provision of specialist knowledge relating to DA for Housing Officers and Homelessness Teams to draw on 

· Specialist support for survivors at the moment of crisis 

· Provision of advocacy; supporting survivors to access safe accommodation 

· Ongoing support from the IGVA from wider DA service, including access to group clinical supervision, casework management meetings, reflective practice sessions, one-to-one supervision from service manager 

The Housing IGVA will work closely with victims of gender-based violence from the point of crisis, to provide high quality independent advocacy and support to survivors of gender-based violence at the highest risk and their children. The role will be part of increasing the ability of partner agencies to recognise, reject and respond appropriately and safely to all forms of gender-based violence (including domestic violence, sexual, financial and emotional abuse, female genital mutilation, forced marriage and honour-based violence).

The job involves working within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership protocols and procedures that prioritise the safety of survivors. The job involves informing survivors of the full range of civil, criminal, housing and practical options that might increase their safety. The post holder will empower survivors by providing them with emotional, practical and personal welfare support especially around complex housing needs.

The job involves ensuring that women are provided with a safe, supportive and welcoming environment, enabling them to access their rights, make decisions and increase their life options.

Solicitor

You will challenge unfair housing practices and systemic causes of homelessness through strategic casework and litigation. Paralegal

You will help our solicitors to maintain an active caseload, enabling our clients to enforce their housing rights. Your role will be varied and will include taking instructions and witness statements, drafting letters, making applications, providing court representation and making sure time recording and income targets are met. Please note this role is being advertised as a Paralegal but on appointment the job title will be Legal Adviser.

About You

For the Solicitor role, we are open to newly qualified candidates with a demonstrable interest in social justice, as well as those who have 3+ years PQE and a strong track record in housing law and Legal Aid work. You will have experience or a demonstrable interest in legal practice in the private or not for profit sector with experience of working on a wide range of housing cases, knowledge of legal aid, housing, homelessness and welfare law. You have the ability to research, write reports, time record and meet financial targets, as well as meeting or be willing to develop to meet the Housing Supervisor Requirements (September 2023).

For the Paralegal role you will need a good understanding of litigation work, be able to carry out legal research and provide a good standard of professional service and client care. You will have excellent communication skills, both in writing/drafting and face-to-face along with proficiency using case management systems and time recording, as well as the ability to manage your time and workload. If you have housing law experience and knowledge of Legal Aid/ CCMS this would be an advantage. You enjoy collaborating as part of a team, respond quickly and positively to change and are not afraid to challenge the status quo and introduce new ideas when appropriate.

Job Purpose

The Head of Construction (Feasibility & Delivery) is a leadership and technical role responsible for the end-to-end development, delivery and stewardship of Habitat GB’s construction and property portfolio.

Key responsibilities include strategic planning and technical leadership for core aspects of Habitat GB’s domestic programme, such as the construction project pipeline associated with our Empty Spaces to Homes (ES2H) programme. The postholder will lead the feasibility, design, costing, procurement and delivery of demonstration construction projects, primarily the conversion of empty commercial and retail buildings into high-quality, affordable homes, while also ensuring the safe, compliant operation and maintenance of HFHGB-owned, leased and operated properties, including ReStore sites.

The Head of Construction (Feasibility & Delivery) is also responsible for the people management of staff, contractors and consultants and (where relevant) volunteers. Key areas of risk management that sit within the portfolio of this role include project and site health & safety, compliance and asset maintenance.

This role is central to translating Habitat GB’s mission and strategy into high-quality, buildable, scalable projects that maximise social impact.

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities

Construction & Programme Delivery

• Lead the planning, design and delivery of Habitat GB’s demonstration construction projects within the ES2H programme.

• Contribute technical leadership to programme strategy, performance monitoring, evaluation and learning.

• Work collaboratively with other ES2H workstreams (Advocacy, Research, Scalability) to ensure projects inform and support wider systems change.

• Provide expert construction input into organisational decision-making, risk management, and strategy implementation.

Building Pipeline Development & Feasibility

• Lead the identification, assessment and prioritisation of potential conversion opportunities across Great Britain.
• Conduct frequent site visits to assess empty or underutilised commercial buildings.
• Undertake and/or oversee:
  • Building diagnostics and technical surveys
  • Early identification of structural, asbestos, planning, fire and compliance risks
  • Location-based risk profiling (logistics, supply chains, neighbourhood constraints)
• Act as the organisation’s technical authority on building viability and conversion risk.

Design, Specification & Cost Leadership

• Develop initial design concepts, spatial layouts and performance specifications that balance cost‑efficiency, compliance, buildability and the dignity of residents.
• Ensure all designs meet relevant statutory and organisational requirements, including:
  • UK Building Regulations
  • Fire safety and CDM 2015
  • Sustainability and environmental standards
• Provide client side cost leadership and quantity surveying oversight across projects, including:
  • Preparing feasibility cost models, early stage estimates and robust construction budgets
  • Assessing and benchmarking contractor quotations and negotiating best value outcomes aligned with charitable objectives
  • Maintaining effective cost control and financial visibility throughout delivery
• Lead the appointment and management of architects, planning consultants and specialist technical advisors as required.

Construction Delivery, Contractor & Site Management

• Identify, appoint and manage contractors, subcontractors and consultants on a project-by-project basis.
• Ensure projects are delivered: safely; to specification; on time and within approved budgets
• Combine on-site leadership with remote project management, using digital tools, dashboards and reporting systems.
• Maintain a national overview of live and pipeline projects, providing the Executive Team with clear, real-time updates on milestones, risks, spend and cashflow, and delivery confidence.

Health, Safety & Risk Management

• Be responsible for Health & Safety across Habitat GB’s construction and property portfolio.
• Ensure full compliance with relevant legislation, including CDM 2015.
• Oversee:
  • Risk assessments and method statements (RAMS)
  • Training and inductions
  • Incident reporting and corrective actions
• Ensure a strong safety culture across construction sites and property sites, working closely with the Site & Property Maintenance Officer to delivery their responsibilities successfully and safely.
• Work with colleagues to ensure appropriate insurances are in place.

Financial Management & Reporting

· Own construction and maintenance budgets, ensuring strong financial control and value for money.

· Lead procurement processes for works, materials, and equipment.

· Work closely with Finance to ensure accurate forecasting, cost tracking, and timely payment of invoices.

· Maintain robust project management tools, trackers, schedules, and cost sheets.

· Provide regular input into organisational performance reporting, risk registers, and assurance processes.

People Leadership & Culture

· Line-manage and support direct reports, setting clear objectives, and providing regular supervision and development.

· Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing, values-driven team and contractor network.

· Ensure good practice management of consultants, contractors and volunteers.

· Role model Habitat GB’s values, including commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and safeguarding.

Person profile:

· Extensive experience in UK construction project management, particularly refurbishment and conversion projects, with responsibility spanning early feasibility through to delivery.

· Strong technical understanding of:

• UK Building Regulations and fire safety requirements

• Permitted Development rights and planning constraints

• Health & Safety management, including CDM 2015

· Strong client‑side commercial judgement, with proven ability to develop feasibility cost models, set and manage construction budgets, and maintain effective cost control across projects.

· Demonstrated experience appointing and managing contractors, consultants and procurement processes to deliver best‑value outcomes.

· Strong leadership and people management experience, including the ability to lead teams, contractors and consultants with credibility and clarity.

· Relevant construction or built‑environment qualification, or equivalent senior professional experience (e.g. MCIOB, MRICS or similar).

· Valid CSCS card.

· Recognised Health & Safety qualification (e.g. IOSH or SMSTS).

· Full UK driving licence.

Skills and competencies:

· Technically confident and commercially astute, with the ability to exercise sound professional judgement and make high-quality decisions in complex or ambiguous situations.

· Comfortable operating across strategic leadership and hands-on problem solving, particularly within refurbishment and conversion projects.

· Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise effectively across multiple concurrent workstreams, sites and geographies.

· Confident and collaborative communicator, able to work productively with internal teams, partners, volunteers, contractors and external stakeholders.

· Willing and able to travel extensively across Great Britain in support of project development and delivery.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our small but professional and friendly development team to continue the delivery of our high quality new build homes programme.

We design our homes to high-standards, incorporating local architectural features. Our ‘fabric first’ approach to design and construction, coupled with and our commitment to renewable energy technologies, aims to reduce environmental impact and running costs for our residents. We build small scale schemes of quality homes that are in keeping with the village. Our approach involves forming a community-led local partnership to research, enable and deliver affordable rural homes.

Working under the leadership of the Development Director and collaboratively with internal colleagues and external consultants and contractors. The role will be to fully coordinate from inception working with Rural Housing Enablers, site acquisition and planning through to completion with the day-to-day project management of rural exception site housing delivery (noting, we do deliver some through selective Section 106 planning schemes with housing developers). Our typical land lead sites are around eight to twelve affordable homes, and may incorporate some open market housing to provide some necessary cross subsidy funding.

About you:

To succeed in this role, you will have a proven track record in working and successfully delivering affordable housing development and preferably rural housing. You will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to work both collaboratively but also be an independent self-starter. It takes a special person with professionalism, enthusiasm, initiative, tenacity and a great deal of pride in the end product to stay the course and deliver these small, often challenging yet ultimately rewarding community lead housing schemes. The right candidate will also ideally have some technical construction experience, either from formal qualification of direct housing delivery. Youth Advice Centre (YAC) offers information, support and guidance to young people (13-25) and their families in Brighton and Hove. We are on the lookout for a new specialist housing advisor to join the YAC team. Based in the heart of Brighton, you will support young people to understand their housing options, make referrals on their behalf, and advocate when needed to ensure young people get the support they need. You will be based within the advice centre and form part of the team who deliver drop-in clinics and appointments. As well as providing one to one work, this role will also focus on prevention and early intervention through the delivery of workshops in schools, colleges and other youth settings.
