The following role profile sets out the focus on capital mobilisation, investment execution and delivery of our Fund Manager Incubator programmes that strengthen Pathway’s institutional capability.

Role profile: Senior Investment Manager

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Location: London

Contract: Permanent

Salary: £58k - £65k

Purpose of the role

Following the Board’s sign-off of our Investment Strategy, the Senior Investment Manager will lead the implementation phase. The role focuses on:

1. Mobilising capital for Pathway asset classes and Fund Manager Incubator (FMI) programme funds,
2. Executing investments and overseeing portfolio management, and
3. Projects that advance Pathway Fund’s mission, organisational capability, and external profile.

This role combines investment leadership with FMI programme management, delivery & oversight.

Key responsibilities

1. Capital mobilisation and investment execution

• Lead fundraising and capital deployment for Pathway’s Asset Class and FMI programme funds.
• Manage investor relationships, due diligence, and reporting to ensure confidence and accountability.
• Oversee execution of approved investment strategy, portfolio management, and risk oversight.
• Engage external advisors, consultants, and asset managers to support high-quality decision-making.
• Produce regular performance and impact reports for the CEO, Investment Committee, and Board.

2. FMI programme leadership

• Lead the FMI Programme, ensuring its successful development, delivery, and evolution as a cornerstone of Pathway's 2030 strategy.
• Drive specific initiatives critical to delivering Pathway’s 2030 strategy, primarily focusing on FMI 3.0 and evolving the FMI programme for future versions.
• Develop Pathway’s specific approach to and role in community asset acquisition models.
• Develop and adapt the FMI model to deploy intermediary upskilling frameworks and programmes as soon as funding is unlocked.
• Work cross-functionally with programme, operations, and communications teams to embed the FMI Programme and ensure successful delivery.
• Establish key milestones and performance indicators for the FMI Programme, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and impact goals.
• Act as a lead custodian of the FMI Programme, ensuring its successful evolution and embedding across Pathway's wider strategic and investment activities while strengthening the organisation's long-term institutional capacity and sector leadership.

3. External representation and partnerships

• Represent Pathway Fund externally, articulating its investment and strategic approach to investors, partners, and sector stakeholders.
• Build strategic alliances with funders, intermediaries, and government bodies to advance mission-aligned investment opportunities.
• Contribute to thought leadership, publications and policy insights.

4. Organisational capability

• Oversee investment operations, reporting, and monitoring systems.
• Supervise investment and project deliverables, budgets, and milestones.
• Support staff development and training in investment, impact finance and project management.
• Provide strategic input to organisational planning, leveraging insights from both investment and strategic projects.

Success indicators (First 12–18 Months)

• Initial Asset Class capital commitments secured and pipeline established.
• FMI 3.0 and future iterations delivered to agreed milestones.
• Investment Committee fully operational with regular performance reporting.
• Organisational systems strengthened to support efficient investment and project delivery.
• Pathway’s reputation as a leading racial equity investment wholesaler reinforced through external engagement.

Candidate profile

Essential experience

• Senior experience in investment management, fundraising, or strategic finance.
• Demonstrated success in leading multi-stakeholder programmes or strategic initiatives.
• Proven track record in capital mobilisation and portfolio management.
• Strong stakeholder management and influence at senior levels.
• Advanced analytical, financial modelling, and reporting capabilities.

Desirable experience

• Experience in racial equity, social impact investing, or community wealth-building contexts.
• Familiarity with fund design, programme delivery, and organisational development projects.
• Exposure to policy, advocacy, or thought leadership in inclusive finance.
