Brief role description
NOVA provides trauma-informed, person-centred support to UK Armed Forces veterans who are at risk of, or already in contact with the criminal justice system. NOVA operates across England (as Op NOVA), Scotland and Wales. We are now developing the service in Northern Ireland.
The Caseworker for NOVA Northern Ireland will manage and support a caseload of veterans, providing emotional and practical support across a range of factors including mental health and wellbeing, social stability, housing and employability. They will be working in collaboration with local partners to reduce reoffending.
The Caseworker for NOVA Northern Ireland will work in the community, in partnership with the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), the Probation Board for Northern Ireland (PBNI) and other local partners to provide support to veterans at all stages of the justice pathway: pre-arrest, point of arrest, court process, custody, and transition back into the community.

About You
To succeed as a Community Coordinator, you will have:

This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled line manager with experience in general welfare advice to join Sufra NW London. In this highly rewarding role, you will oversee the delivery of services that can measurably change lives by providing quality advice and support to those most in need.
You will manage our team of advice staff and volunteers to deliver high quality advice, information and welfare support to guests on a range of topics including benefits, housing, debt and immigration issues. The post holder will be a highly articulate and proactive individual with good welfare advice knowledge, 3+ years delivery experience in managing a charity team, strong service management skills, as well as experience managing staff and volunteers. The ideal candidate will have up-to date knowledge of the welfare system, immigration and safeguarding protocols. They must also have demonstrable experience using a case management system, adhering to advice standards and be able to manage a diverse workload and work under pressure.

About Friends for Life Bedfordshire
We are a Bedford-based charity working to address the social isolation of older residents in Bedfordshire’s care homes.
Founded in 2007, we have grown from a small local initiative to a registered charity with c90 volunteers supporting more than 30 care homes across Bedford Borough. In the last year, over 1,100 care home residents received our services.
The Role
You will take ownership of the charity’s core volunteer administration processes, ensuring they are efficient, accurate and fully compliant with safeguarding and data protection requirements.
This is a critical operational role. Delays or inaccuracies in volunteer administration directly impact how quickly we can onboard volunteers and support care home residents.
You will manage recruitment administration, DBS and compliance tracking, and key data systems, while producing reports that help the organisation understand and improve its impact.
This role is suited to someone who is highly organised, comfortable working with data and systems, and confident operating in a compliance-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Administration & Onboarding
- Manage the end-to-end administration of volunteer recruitment
- Issue registration forms, respond to enquiries and proactively follow up with applicants
- Obtain references and coordinate DBS checks in line with safeguarding requirements
- Ensure volunteers progress efficiently through the recruitment process
Volunteer Induction & Compliance
- Arrange and administer volunteer induction (“Welcome Day”) sessions, including logistics and materials
- Book volunteers onto induction once all checks are complete
- Monitor DBS renewal dates and co-ordinate refresher checks to ensure no active volunteer is without a current DBS certificate.
Data, Systems & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date volunteer and service records in line with GDPR
- Manage and develop online forms (e.g. JotForms) to support data collection and processes
- Analyse data and produce regular reports to support monitoring, evaluation and funding requirements
- Provide reports and insights to support decision-making by the Board of Trustees
General Administration
- Maintain records such as ID badges, training and safeguarding documentation
- Support communication and coordination between volunteers, care homes and staff

About the team
The Investment Team is responsible for selecting portfolio partners, managing our charity investments and supporting our portfolio partners to improve and scale their impact.
The Investment Team also leads the Impetus Leadership Academy, a leadership development programme to support talent from ethnic minority backgrounds in the UK youth sector to progress into senior leadership roles.
The team is made up of 19 people, including former teachers, charity chief executives, charity impact leads, management consultants, social investment portfolio managers and impact consultants.
The team is led by a Portfolio Director who sits on the Senior Management Team. The Portfolio Director has 5 direct reports: a Deputy Portfolio Director, three Sector Leads (who lead our work in School engagement, School attainment and Employment Sectors) and an Impact Lead. Sector Leads line manage 6 Investment Directors. Investment Directors line manage Investment Managers (currently 6). Investment Directors and Investment Managers tend to primarily focus on a sector but might have mixed portfolios, depending on need, experience and interest.
The Investment Team has a good track record of role progression. All four Leads and a number of our Investment Directors were promoted from within the team.

Key responsibilities
Finding high potential charities and non-profit organisations to join our portfolio
- Supporting the annual cycle of identifying new investments - mapping the landscape of charities in thematic areas (e.g. Apprenticeships and Skills), conducting structured analysis of key impact and financial data and reviewing the current evidence base to identify high potential charities and inform options for Investment Directors.
- Contributing to due diligence of new organisations by reviewing quantitative and qualitative charity information ) and preparing clear assessments of suitability for investment; This includes considering impact and scale potential, financial stability and summarising risks and recommendations for senior review. Requires strong relationship management, in co-ordination with Investment Directors, when engaging with potential charity partners.

Supporting and managing relationships with portfolio partners
- Working closely with Investment Directors to support portfolio partners across all areas of our work - leadership, impact and sustainability – owning defined(e.g. impact management or financial analysis).

Through our befriending and group activities, we bring companionship, connection and meaningful relationships to care home residents across Bedfordshire.
We are now looking for a Volunteer Co-ordinator to help more recruit, train and support the volunteers who make our work possible.
About Friends for Life Bedfordshire
We are a Bedford-based charity working to address the social isolation of older residents in Bedfordshire’s care homes.
Founded in 2007, we have grown from a small local initiative to a registered charity with c90 volunteers supporting more than 30 care homes across Bedford Borough. In the last year, over 1,100 care home residents received our services.
The Role
You will play a key operational role in ensuring our volunteer-led services run smoothly, safely and effectively.
Working closely with the Volunteer Lead, you will help recruit, train, support and retain volunteers, ensuring they feel confident, valued and equipped to deliver both befriending and activity-based services.
In addition, you will co-ordinate and manage our programme of group activities, working with care homes and activity volunteers to make sure residents experience high‑quality, meaningful sessions every week.

Volunteer Recruitment, Induction & Training
- Act as the first point of contact for volunteer enquiries
