About the Role

As Grants and Information Officer, you will play a central role in delivering our services. You will manage grant applications from initial assessment through to decision and award, contribute to committee processes, and support the wider operations of the charity.

Key Details

• Reporting to: CEO
• Hours: Part-time (21 hours per week)
• Working pattern: Flexible and hybrid working available (minimum one day per week in the office, typically Thursday)

Key Responsibilities

Casework

• Manage applications from initial assessment through to committee review

Finance

• Administer grants within agreed limits
• Arrange payments to beneficiaries and service providers
• Support audit processes

Grants Management System

• Maintain and update the grants database (Benefactor)

Administration & Resources

• Update and maintain internal resources, including application forms, guidance, and standard communications
• Support website content updates
• Maintain standard operating procedures
• Provide general office administration support

Additional Duties

• Attend and support the AGM and other organisational meetings
• Represent the charity externally when required
• Support the CEO with fundraising strategy and policy development
• Undertake other duties as required in a small team environment

About You

You will be:

• Educated to degree level
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Experienced in working with databases and updating websites
• Familiar with fundraising applications and/or the charity sector (ideally benevolent funds or welfare services)
• Knowledgeable about the UK statutory benefits system
• Familiar with accounting software such as Xero or Dext (desirable)
• Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise a varied workload
• Adaptable and comfortable working in a small team
• An excellent communicator, both written and verbal

This role follows a 37 hours, over a 7 day working pattern. The post holder will also be required to work an annualised hours system which includes working any 5 days out of 7 including statutory holidays. They will also be part of a 24-hour operational standby team responsible for providing emergency cover for the waterway.

On-call responsibility
Volunteer Leaders take part in an on-call rota alongside other Canal & River Trust colleagues:
•    Approximately 1 week in every 5
•    Availability from 4:00pm to 8:00am on weekdays, plus the full weekend
•    A Trust vehicle will be taken home during on-call periods to respond to callouts

The Volunteering Leader will be based at Enfield Lock, Ordnance Road, Enfield EN3 6JG. This role involves travel between sites and includes use of a Trust vehicle.

Role Overview

We’re looking for practical, motivated Volunteer Leaders to support our Operations team in keeping the waterways around the upper Lee navigation and the River Lee open, safe and clean.

This is a hands-on, operational role where you’ll lead and support groups of volunteers to carry out essential maintenance and improvement tasks along the canal network. You’ll work closely with our Operations staff, sometimes alongside them, to identify issues and organise volunteer activity to resolve them.

In this role, you’ll support and guide a growing community of dedicated volunteers, as well as our internal team, all working together to protect, maintain, and enhance the environment and heritage of our local waterways for residents and visitors to enjoy.

You’ll be confident handling day‑to‑day administration and comfortable leading, motivating, and supporting volunteer groups. A strong focus on safety and a responsible approach are essential.

It would be beneficial if you have experience in:

• Health & Safety processes, including risk assessments and method statements
• Safeguarding
• Practical or maintenance work
• Volunteer coordination or team leadership

Role Overview 

The purpose of the post is to manage and lead the day-to-day operations, business development and visitor experience at our Canal Museum Stoke Bruerne. The Visitor Services Manager (VSM) will lead the site team at Stoke Bruerne (colleagues and volunteers) on a day to day basis to focus on the visitor offer, striving for excellence in experience, achieving financial sustainability around income generation and charitable giving and delivering a consistently high-class visitor welcome across the board. This includes managing a range of front of house functions including food and beverage, retail, events and commercial boat trips. The Visitor Services Manager plays a central role in overseeing, coordinating and championing the experience of every visitor from site presentation, to large/small scale events and programming, making the site a must-see attraction, acclaimed internationally, nationally and loved locally.

As a key member of the Destinations and Attractions Management Team the VSM will work strategically with colleagues in other attractions and with other teams within the Trust such as, Operations, Fundraising, Collections, Marketing and Volunteering teams amongst others to promote, drive and deliver excellence in customer service and a visitor centred approach. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to create safe working environments and understand the importance of compliance in day to day operations. We are looking for a highly motivated and passionate individual to join the team as a Senior Operations Manager. As the Senior Operations Manager, you will work closely with the Area Manager and be responsible for and accountable for the delivery and development of services across the region.

We provide clinicians, academics and researchers across London and beyond with the funding and resources they need to understand more, prevent more and treat more.

Our funding comes from the fundraising efforts of thousands of supporters as well as income generated by our investments in property and equity markets. We currently grant around £6 million each year – but we want to do more. 

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Administrator to play a central role in supporting the delivery of our HR and Operations functions.  This position is vital to ensure that all activity is recorded accurately,  that systems run smoothly and stakeholders receive an exceptional level of support.

You will be responsible for supporting the Charity's HR processes throughout the lifecycle of employees, sourcing and booking training and contributing to various HR and operations projects. In addition, you'll act as a point of contact for operational issues across the charity’s two sites (Chelsea and Harefield), ensuring safe, well-managed, and well-supplied working environments.

You'll be an experienced administrator with a strong understanding of office systems and processes. You'll bring excellent coordination and organisational skills, communicate clearly and confidently, and build effective working relationships across multiple workstreams. Comfortable juggling competing priorities, you will take a practical, solutions-focused approach and follow tasks through to completion.

Most importantly, you will be proactive, hands-on and happy to step in wherever needed. You will thrive in a collaborative, inclusive environment and help the team stay organised, connected and moving forward.

Role summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Visitor Experience Manager to help make every visit to Painswick Rococo Garden warm, inspiring and memorable.

You’ll be an integral part of bringing our beautiful and quirky 18th-century garden to life by leading our programme of events and family trails, interpretation, customer service and presentation standards.

Passionate and enthusiastic, you will deliver a high-quality visitor experience that make visitors feel more connected to the garden.
