The MCF has an exciting opportunity for a Grants Officer to join our fantastic Charity Grants team on a 12-month contract to cover for one of our Grants Officers going on maternity leave.
This is an opportunity for the right candidate to gain strong experience working with charities, develop knowledge of the key themes and challenges facing the sector, develop their assessment skills including reading charity accounts, expand their network in the grant making sector, and contribute strategically to the Charity Grants team’s programmes looking into the future.
The role is responsible for delivering all aspects of MCF’s core and Provincial charity grant programmes. You will deal with enquiries, conduct initial meetings with charities online, assess written applications, and prepare and present recommendations to decision‑making panels. The role will also include reviewing monitoring reports and may also involve undertaking charity visits across England and Wales, and to undertake additional duties as required.

Location: Covent Garden, London. Work from home two days per week.
Hours: 34 hours per week (early finish on Fridays)
Contract: Full-time, 12-month maternity cover
Salary: Circa £31,525 - £34,306 (dependent upon experience)

Main responsibilities
· Assess expressions of interest and applications received under the MCF’s core and Provincial programmes against charity grants criteria, MCF strategy and funding priorities and the societal need.
· Conduct financial assessments to identify any potential risk of financial or reputational damage to MCF.
· Present assessments and peer review other applications at grant panels.
· Prepare application summaries for committee meetings.
· Review grant monitoring reports, ensuring their progression is on track and in line with the applications.
· Deal with telephone, email and face-to face general enquiries from charities and freemasons.
· Build relationships between MCF and grant holders.
· Ensure all key information, correspondence and documentation are appropriately recorded in the Salesforce database.
The role
The MCF’s current funding priorities includes Early Years, children and young people with SEND, and children affected by domestic abuse. Ideally the successful candidate will have knowledge and experience of at least one of these areas.
The ideal applicant will already have experience within the third sector and have some knowledge and experience of grant-making either through a grant-making organisation or as a fundraiser applying for grants. They will have the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
To be successful in this role it is essential to have strong report writing skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to complete analytical assessment. It is also desirable to have research skills, presentation skills and an understanding of charity finances and accounts.

About the Role
The Upper Room (TUR) works with individuals experiencing homelessness, poverty, social exclusion and involvement with the criminal justice system. Through UR4Meals, UR4Driving and UR4Jobs, we provide practical support, dignity and opportunity to some of the most disadvantaged members of our community in West London.
TUR anticipates an annual income of approximately £725,000 in 2026/27, with around 57% generated through trusts and foundation grants. We have strong, established relationships with the majority of our funders, including a number of multi-year grants already in place.

About the Role
Advice Giving
• Deliver a multi-channel advice service, including home visits, to clients regarding their energy needs and income maximisation support, ensuring advice provided meets the requirements of Citizens Advice quality standards.
• Ensure all case recording and other record keeping is completed within agreed timescales and conforms to the Office Manual and the Advice Quality Standards

ROLE PURPOSE:
This role works to raise awareness of the issues faced by people around the world who have lost their homes to disaster. It generates positive media coverage for ShelterBox, positioning us as experts in emergency shelter, as well as supporting fundraising with media engagement and PR activities. The role also works to ensure colleagues across the organisation can talk about our work accurately and consistently by producing key messaging about our international programmes.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
ShelterBox is seeking an experienced, motivated and proactive communications professional with excellent attention to detail and line-management experience.
You will be skilled in writing a variety of materials - including press releases, statements, and Q&As, and in simplifying complex information. You will also understand the nuance of language, ensuring messaging reflects dignity, avoids harmful narratives and upholds humanitarian neutrality in sensitive contexts.
You will enjoy finding strong stories and ensuring they are told ethically. You will be experienced in creating news, working with the media and contributing to multiple projects at pace.
We are looking for someone with experience in crisis communications who can help protect and enhance our reputation by identifying potential issues early. You will also have experience delivering media interview training, building confidence in spokespeople, and supporting them through briefings and interviews.
You will have experience of line management. You will have experience of working with a direct report to develop their abilities and support them to be motivated and produce great work.

MAIN ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This role works as part of a small and dynamic Communications & Digital team and has direct line management of our Comms & PR Officer. You will focus on gaining media coverage for our international programmes, understanding the issues and opportunities of our work and securing impactful media interviews. You will support our fundraising campaigns and events with media engagement.
You will work closely with the Head of Global Communications & Digital and colleagues across the Fundraising & Communications department to develop and deliver communications and media engagement activities supporting campaigns and driving awareness.
The role line-manages a Communications & PR Officer. You will work with them to extend the output and reach of our comms and media work and support them to feel motivated and produce high-quality work.
This role also supports wider departments by producing centralised messaging to ensure colleagues talk about our work consistently and are aligned with our brand.
You'll work with the wider communications and fundraising teams on integrated campaigns, ensuring key messaging is aligned and PR angles and risks are considered.

Purpose of Role
The Portfolio Manager will play a key role in the success of the team responsible for Comic Relief’s funding programme focused on tackling the effects of poverty. This role is focused on forced migration (in a team that also works in areas such as food insecurity, homelessness in the UK, and maternal and child health internationally),
The Portfolio Manager will hold direct responsibility for new Comic Relief grant making and ongoing grant management both in the UK and internationally, ensuring excellent grant making practice.

- Preparing papers and agendas for trustee meetings twice yearly, attending meetings, taking minutes, and processing grant decisions.
- Reconciling the cash book with the bank record and chasing outstanding receipts.
- Liaising with the Trust accountant and auditor to support the annual report and accounts.
- Visiting selected applicants and reporting back to Trustees.
- Completing the Charity Commission annual return.

Job Specifics
This role is based on a 5 hour working week with occasional additional paid hours to facilitate site visits and to prepare for and attend the half yearly trustee meetings.
Salary is £30,000 per annum (pro rata).
Office location: Selly Oak, Birmingham.
Holiday: 28 days (pro rata).

Job Purpose:
This is a key role within a small but global team collaborating with a range of experts and specialists with in-depth knowledge of both the global Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting Movement and the international development sector. Working across a mix of corporate, global trusts & foundations, and institutional funders, your primary focus will be securing new funding partnerships as well as delivering excellent stewardship and management of existing partnerships. The role is responsible for making a recognisable contribution towards organisational income targets. There will be a strong focus on securing restricted income in support of a portfolio of global non-formal education programmes across key thematic areas including climate, STEM, online safety, leadership, gender-based violence prevention, and menstrual health & hygiene – all with cross-cutting themes of gender equality and advocacy. There may also be time spent on seeking and securing funding to support wider organisational projects as necessary, as well as exploring opportunities to secure unrestricted / flexible core funding.
About You:
As our Strategic Partnerships Manager, you will work across a mix of corporate, global trusts & foundations, and institutional funders, your focus will be on securing new funding partnerships as well as delivering excellent stewardship and management of existing partnerships. You’ll need to build effective working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders and be comfortable working in a complex and global organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, engage, and cultivate new funding partnerships that are aligned to WAGGGS vision, purpose, and programme offer ensuring a strong and well-managed pipeline of new and qualified prospects.
- Work cross-departmentally to develop and write high-quality and compelling funding and partnership proposals with a strong case for support, ensuring they are deliverable, measurable, accurately costed, and aligned to WAGGGS strategic priorities.
- Deliver effective stewardship and management of a small number of existing funding partnerships. From contracting, partnership reporting, growth and renewal. Build and expand strong relationships with partner contacts at multiple levels, drawing on key WAGGGS senior staff to support when appropriate, and use WAGGGS communications platforms effectively to raise the profile of partnerships.
- Work closely with colleagues and teams who directly support the 153 national Member Organisations delivering Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting globally to understand the needs, priorities, and challenges of girls and young women around the world and to engage Member Organisations for input to funding proposals, and ensure programme development reflects local needs, context, and priorities.
- Line management of one Strategic Partnerships Coordinator providing direction, support, and development opportunities for the post-holder.
