Your role
We are seeking a Finance & Operations Leader to lead Design for Good’s finance, operations and organisational effectiveness, combining strategic thinking with hands-on delivery.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director (MD), you will lead the organisation’s core finance, operational and enabling functions, ensuring we have the financial and operational infrastructure, people systems and governance frameworks needed to deliver our mission.

Key Responsibilities
Financial leadership, planning and sustainability

Key Requirements

● Strong financial management experience, including budgeting, forecasting, management accounting, financial controls, audit processes and financial planning.

Khulisa, meaning 'nurture' in the Zulu language of South Africa, is an award-winning charity dedicated to providing therapeutic support to young people. We focus on reaching those who are most at risk – young people from deprived communities who are often marginalized, vulnerable to exclusion, and at heightened risk of becoming involved in crime. Our approach centres on safe, exploratory methods that aim to understand behaviour and experiences often rooted in trauma, abuse, and neglect. We deliver intensive therapeutic programs within educational and community settings using creative media, empowering young people to confront the underlying causes of their emotional distress and work toward healing. To create lasting, sustainable change, we work to establish trauma-informed environments around young people by equipping parents, caregivers, educators, and other professionals with the tools they need to offer effective, supportive care. Currently, our services are active in London and Manchester.
As the post holder you will be responsible for delivering our front-line work to young people, parents and other adults (professionals). You will work in schools and in community settings across London and/or Manchester to generate impact for young people using Khulisa’s trauma-informed approach. This role requires an enhanced DBS check.
The post holder will be required to work in a hybrid capacity, with 2–3 days per week spent in Khulisa partner schools or other programme delivery locations during term time. Outside of these periods, the post holder may work from home or from our London King’s Cross office (optional).
The role requires a willingness and ability to travel regularly to various locations across London and, where necessary, Manchester. Programme Delivery:
· Facilitate the delivery of sessions in our flagship Face It programme and modular workshops to young people, our Nurturing Connections programme for parents and carers, and our trauma training for professionals.
· Facilitate delivery to a high standard in all settings (schools, youth services, and community spaces), ensuring that you are always taking a trauma informed approach.
· Facilitate various youth participation workshops, co-delivering with young people as much as practicable.
· Respond to any questions, disclosures or safeguarding concerns raised during sessions and follow up where necessary with the relevant safeguarding teams or, where consent is secured, make onward referrals for additional support in specific cases.
· Contribute to the continuous development of all aspects of the programmes, sharing new ideas and using best practice.
· Participate in the periodic review and updating of programme contents and/or development of new materials with relevant colleagues, ensuring that materials used across the team are always uniform and consistent.
· Maintain accurate records of programme activities, including record of input, output, and impact as well as demographics data, and support relevant colleagues in ensuring effective monitoring and periodic evaluation and reporting of impact generated.
· Manage relevant budgets and ensure a value for money approach to all expenditure, making sure to keep within budget.
Programme Coordination:
· Take direct responsibility for logistics of individual programme delivery or activity, including scheduling, resourcing, staffing, and liaising with schools and other partners to ensure effective delivery.

· Where possible during delivery, generate multi-media content for the use of colleagues in communications to use in updating the Khulisa website and for social media.
Stakeholder Management:
· Support the Programmes & Participation Manager in the building and maintenance of strong relationships with delivery partners - schools, community organisations, and other important stakeholders.
· Contribute to any work to use learning from delivery activities to redesign existing programmes and/or develop new pieces of work as required.
· If required, represent Khulisa at events, meetings, and conferences as required etc.
· Support the onboarding and training of Associate Facilitators and volunteers as necessary.
· When required, support the onboarding and training of other permanent programme staff.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
· Objectively review the successes and achievements of each delivery session facilitated against programme or activity objectives, identifying and implementing opportunities for making ongoing improvements.
· To actively deliver all elements of the Khulisa programme, including work with adults and Khulisa’s Young Influencers.
· Depending on experience and qualifications, to be receptive to any other duties as required by the line manager and in line with the needs of Khulisa.

Mind in Havering, Barking & Dagenham (MindHBD) is looking for a Finance Coordinator to join our team and play an important role in keeping our finances accurate, well managed and fit for purpose.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working with numbers but also wants to understand the bigger picture. You’ll be responsible for a range of day-to-day finance processes, while also supporting management accounts, budgets, forecasts, reporting and audit requirements.
You’ll work closely with managers and Directors, helping them understand their financial position, identify variances and spot potential financial risks early. You’ll also have an important role in maintaining strong financial controls, accurate records and clear audit trails.
We’re looking for someone who is qualified to AAT Level 3and has solid practical experience across bookkeeping and financial processes. You’ll need to be confident with reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, financial reporting, Excel and accounting systems. Experience of using accounting software Sage would be essential.
We’re also looking for someone who is naturally accurate, organised and proactive – someone who will ask questions when something doesn’t look right, follow up outstanding issues and have the confidence to raise concerns where financial controls or processes need attention.Confidentiality and discretion are essential, as the role involves handling sensitive financial, employee and organisational information.
Experience in the charity or not-for-profit sector would be helpful, as would AAT Level 4 or a willingness to work towards it, but what matters most is that you have the right financial knowledge, attention to detail and approach to the role.

ABOUT THE STAND PROJECT
Strengthening Activists and Defenders: A Global Feminist Initiative to Strengthen Women Human Rights Defenders (STAND) is a Norad-funded, three-year project working across six countries (Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nepal, Uganda and Zimbabwe) to protect and strengthen feminist movements of Women Human Rights Defenders (WHRDs) in a climate of shrinking civic space and rising anti-rights backlash. Womankind leads the STAND partnership, working with seven implementing partners including AWN (Afghanistan), EWLA (Ethiopia), YWLI (Kenya), WHR (Nepal), WIPC (Uganda) and WCoZ (Zimbabwe).
Role Purpose:
The STAND Programme Manager leads the day-to-day coordination of the STAND partnership at Womankind, ensuring the project is delivered to a high standard across all six countries, on time, within budget and in line with donor requirements. Working closely with the seven STAND partners and Womankind's Grantmaking and Feminist Partnerships (GFP), Fundraising & Marketing (F&M), Finance, Policy and Advocacy (P&A), and Communications teams, the role holder coordinates, financial monitoring, programme reporting, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) implementation and cross-country learning. Strategic, contractual and high-risk matters are escalated to the Director of Grantmaking and Feminist Partnerships. The role ensures that feminist, safeguarding and risk-aware approaches are embedded throughout the project, working in coordination with relevant Womankind's teams.
Areas of responsibility:
Programme and Partnership Management
Lead day-to-day management and coordination of the STAND project at Womankind, Coordinate the sub-grant lifecycle with STAND partners,
Coordinate and deliver the project events, building cross-country solidarity and exchange between partners.
Lead the internal coordination and project management of STAND, bringing relevant teams together, clarifying responsibilities, and documenting and communicating progress, risks and learning to colleagues and leadership.
Coordinate cross-regional learning with Regional Managers to strengthen Womankind’s grantmaking and partnership practice.
Donor Compliance, Finance and Risk Management
Coordinate donor reporting and compliance, working with Fundraising and Marketing, Finance and partners to ensure accurate and timely submissions.
Oversee programme budgets, expenditure, forecasts and grant amendments, escalating significant financial or compliance issues.
Maintain effective project management, risk and audit systems, including risks arising from insecure and restrictive operating contexts.
Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning
Coordinate implementation of the project's MEL framework with the MEL Manager, supporting partners to establish baselines, track results and use evidence to strengthen delivery.
Coordinate the planning and delivery of STAND shared learning spaces and partner convenings in close collaboration with the MEL Manager and Regional GFP Managers and the Advocacy Manager.
Ensure that evidence and learning from STAND contribute to Womankind’s wider organisational knowledge and practice.
Partner Institutional Strengthening and Safeguarding
Coordinate partner-led organisational strengthening, including safeguarding, governance, financial management, risk management and information security.
Work with relevant teams to ensure safeguarding, data protection, wellbeing and protection considerations are embedded across the programme.
Advocacy, Communications and Representation
Collaborate with the P&A Manager assigned to the project to support partners and WHRDs to engage in regional and international advocacy spaces.
Work in conjunction with the P&A Manager assigned to the project to ensure the STAND project and Womankind are represented in relevant external fora, and relationships with peer organisations and networks working on WHRD protection are cultivated
Work with the Communications team to coordinate STAND’s internal and external communications to disseminate learning and strengthen the visibility of WHRD’s.
Travel and working arrangements:
International travel to STAND project countries and other relevant locations will be required, where safe and operationally feasible. All travel will be subject to appropriate risk assessment and security arrangements.
Given the six-country, multi-time-zone scope of the role, occasional early-morning or evening meetings should be expected.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Qualification and training:
A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience in international development, gender studies, human rights, social sciences, or a related field.
Training or demonstrated learning in feminist approaches to MEL, programme management and Grantmaking; women's rights, gender equality, or human rights defence (formal or informal).
Safeguarding training or demonstrated experience applying survivor-centred and trauma-informed approaches.
Training or practical experience in programme/project cycle management, ideally with statutory or institutional donors.
Essential Experience:
Experience managing multi-country, donor-funded programmes or consortia throughout the project cycle, including work planning, partner coordination and reporting against shared outcomes and deadlines.
Experience managing substantial multi-partner budgets and forecasts, with a strong understanding of statutory donor compliance and reporting requirements. Experience with Norad or a similar donor would be an advantage.
Demonstrable MEL experience, including tracking results, supporting partners to generate and use evidence, and coordinating cross-country learning and exchange.
Direct experience working with WRO’s, feminist movements and/or WHRDs.
Experience managing programme risk and adapting delivery in politically sensitive, insecure or rapidly changing contexts.
Experience applying safeguarding and ethical data-management principles, including the secure handling of sensitive information and survivor-centred responses to risk.
Desirable:
Experience working with organizations, movements or activists in at least one STAND project country.
Knowledge of protection mechanisms for human rights defenders operating in restrictive or shrinking civic space.
Experience engaging donors or representing programmes in regional or international advocacy spaces.

STOP THE TRAFFIK is a global organisation working to prevent human trafficking and exploitation. We bring together data, intelligence, technology and partnerships to build a deeper understanding of how exploitation operates, where risks are emerging and who is most at risk. This knowledge informs our prevention campaigns and programmes, which use targeted, evidence-led approaches to reach people with relevant information and support before exploitation occurs.
Safer Futures is one of the major pieces of work within STOP THE TRAFFIK’s prevention programme, focused on preventing child exploitation. It brings together a number of connected areas of prevention activity, including regional campaigns, national awareness activity and a youth-centred reporting channel.
Like our wider prevention projects, the work is informed by data, intelligence and evidence about the risks facing communities and the audiences we are seeking to reach. In this context, the It combines targeted communications, partnerships, technology, safeguarding and learning to develop and deliver practical prevention activity.
The work will involve collaboration across STOP THE TRAFFIK, our wider UK network and external partners, with learning and intelligence generated through delivery helping to strengthen the programme over time.
Leadership and Project Delivery
• Lead the day-to-day delivery of Safer Futures, ensuring activity remains on track, aligned to outcomes and responsive to learning throughout delivery.
