Teens Unite is leading the way in youth cancer support.
We’re an energetic, ambitious and dynamic charity improving the lives of 13-24-year-olds living with, and beyond, cancer. We’re not here to cure cancer. We’re here to empower young people to rebuild their lives and thrive beyond a diagnosis.
This is an incredibly exciting time to join the team. We’re growing rapidly, working alongside major brands and global organisations – from YouTube to Warner Bros. - as well as influencers and celebrity ambassadors, from the Sidemen to Grace Andrews. We’re also growing our media presence across everything from podcasts and radio including Capital FM, all to raise awareness of our work and generate the vital support needed to reach more young people.
From leading influential campaigns and securing media opportunities, to demonstrating our impact to corporate partners and supporters and acting as a guardian of the Teens Unite brand, this role is about amplifying our voice at every level. You’ll help ensure our message and purpose are clear, our impact is seen and understood, and more people are inspired to support our work.
And we’re about to embark on our most ambitious chapter yet.
We’re building the first purpose-built retreat in England for young people overcoming cancer. This pioneering, first-of- its-kind development will transform the support available to young people for generations to come.
Who you are:
You’re creative and proactive, with a talent for compelling storytelling, and a special way with words - whether it’s pitching a media story, keeping supporters updated on the difference they’ve made, or creating a campaign that turns heads, stops scrolling and encourages people to click the donate button.
You’ll seek new opportunities, spot potential and think differently about how Teens Unite can continue to grow its voice, influence and reach.
You’ll be excited by the opportunity to help take Teens Unite to the next level, finding new and innovative ways to raise awareness, build our profile and ensure more people understand the difference our work makes to young people living with, and beyond, cancer.
At the same time, you’ll understand the importance of a strong and consistent brand. You’ll have the confidence to push boundaries and explore new ideas while ensuring everything we communicate remains true to the Teens Unite voice, personality, values and brand guidelines.
Driven by purpose, you’ll be excited by the opportunity to use your communications skills to drive real change - ensuring the voices of the young people we support are heard, inspiring more people to support our work, and positioning Teens Unite as a leading charity with influence and recognition far beyond the youth cancer sector.
The role:
This role is about taking our communications to the next level and ensuring the Teens Unite voice is heard louder than ever.
You’ll be our go-to creative for compelling copy and standout design across print, online and digital marketing. From our website and newsletters to campaigns and supporter communications, you’ll bring the Teens Unite voice, purpose and personality to life - creating meaningful, thought-provoking communications that capture attention and inspire action.
You’ll keep our supporters motivated, engaged and connected to the difference they make. From demonstrating impact to the major corporate partners we work alongside, to sharing the heartwarming stories our regular donors want to hear, you’ll ensure everyone who makes our support possible feels recognised, valued and connected to our mission.
You’ll secure press opportunities through building strong relationships with journalists and media outlets, and understanding what makes a captivating news story, raising awareness of Teens Unite and the issues facing young people living with, and beyond, cancer.
You’ll support the delivery of integrated marketing campaigns that support our strategic objectives, from Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Awareness Month to Mental Health Awareness Week - finding creative ways to reach new audiences, start conversations and drive action.
And as we embark on our most ambitious chapter yet, you’ll also play an important role in raising the profile of our capital appeal. You’ll help build momentum, generate exposure and increase supporter engagement as we bring England’s first purpose-built retreat for young people overcoming cancer, to life.

Do you want to get out there and work in a role where you will support an end to rough sleeping in Bristol?
St Mungo’s Bristol Street Outreach Team will be recruiting to a number of Outreach Worker roles as part of an increased number of opportunities across rough sleeping services. This could include working with focused groups of clients including those residing in vehicles on the roadside or people who have been rough sleeping for a particularly long time, some of whom are part of the ‘Target Priority Group (TPG)’.
Our belief is that rough sleeping is an intrinsically harmful and dangerous activity both for the individual and for the wider community. Therefore, we take a proactive and assertive approach to supporting people away from this activity. Our aim is to support people to recover from the effects of rough sleeping and move away from a street lifestyle permanently.
Working as an Outreach Worker you will:
- Work with people who are rough sleeping to assess their needs and deliver a person-centred support that meet peoples individual needs and connect them to suitable housing options. This could also include working alongside people who are residing in vehicles on the roadside.
- Balance time in the community, on Outreach, working with people where they are sleeping or spending their days, alongside time in the office completing administrative tasks and attending meetings.
- Help people access vital services like healthcare, substance use support, and adult social care.
- Work in partnership with multi-disciplinary teams and agencies across the city to meet client’s individual needs.
It’s not always an easy job, but the opportunity to work with different people every day, helping individuals experiencing homelessness and the local community end the harms of rough sleeping can be highly rewarding.
You will work on a weekly shift rota including mornings, evenings, weekends and bank holidays. This helps us to ensure we are available to support people experiencing homelessness when they need us the most. Shifts can vary particularly during periods of extreme weather.
About you
We are always on the lookout for people who share our ambitions. You don’t need direct experience to succeed in these rewarding roles; if you are ready to get out there and support our clients, we encourage you to apply!
- You will have good communication skills with the ability to network and build effective relationships with a variety of people, a good understanding of the complex issues faced by homeless people and the difficulties they experience in accessing services.
- If you think you have the resilience and patience to work with people who may have complex needs and challenging behaviour, we will provide you with the tools and training to support clients to end rough sleeping for good.
- Due to the nature of this role a full UK or equivalent driving license is desirable for this post, and/or competency in cycling.
St Mungo's are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace. We strongly encourage applications from all under-represented groups.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Elliot Leigh Supported Living provides semi-independent supported accommodation across East and North-East London for young adults aged 18–25 who are leaving the care system. Our residents are at a pivotal moment in their lives — transitioning from care into adulthood — and they need more than just a roof over their heads.
As a Support Worker you will hold a caseload of around 10–12 residents, walking alongside each of them through that transition: managing a tenancy, navigating employment, handling money, and knowing that someone is in their corner. You will work from our East London office and visit residents in their homes, all within a manageable travel radius — this is a Monday-to-Friday daytime role, not a shift or rota post.
This is not a passive role. It demands energy, creativity and a genuine commitment to working in partnership with young adults who have often experienced significant trauma, instability and disappointment. But it also offers something rare: the chance to be the person who helps someone turn their life around.
PAY, HOURS AND BENEFITS
✓ £32,000 salary for candidates with 12 months’ relevant experience and a Level 3 qualification. Have the experience but not the Level 3? Start on £27,000, we fund the qualification, and you move to £32,000 on completion.
✓ Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm — flexible start and finish times will be considered; no evenings, weekends or bank holidays
✓ 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, rising to 30 days in line with length of service
✓ 4% employer pension contribution
✓ Enhanced DBS and Update Service subscription funded by us *subject to qualifying criteria
✓ Funded Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care or Housing, with paid study time, if you don’t already hold one
✓ A clear career ladder: Support Worker → Senior Support Worker → Team Leader, with published pay points
✓ Employee Assistance Programme with 24/7 confidential support
✓ Monthly supervision and reflective practice sessions, plus a structured four-week induction
✓ A small, inclusive team where your voice shapes how we work
✓ A company dedicated to the continuous professional development of its team members
WHAT YOU’LL DO
• Support residents to develop and sustain independent living skills — budgeting, cooking, cleaning, tenancy management
• Deliver structured keywork sessions and co-produce individual support plans with each resident
• Help residents into education, employment and training — CV writing, job applications, college enrolment
• Keep accurate, timely records on our digital case management system — keywork notes, risk assessments, support plans
• Liaise with local authority leaving care teams, social workers, personal advisers and other professionals
• Support residents to manage their mental health, wellbeing and personal challenges in a trauma-informed way
• Accompany residents to appointments with external agencies — GP, Job Centre, local authority
• Respond calmly and professionally to conflict, emotional distress or challenging behaviour
• Work with the wider team to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all residents
• Contribute to team meetings, supervision and your own continuing professional development
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Essential:
• At least 12 months’ relevant experience supporting young people or young adults in a care, supported housing, youth work or semi-independent living setting
• A genuine understanding of the challenges care leavers face in the move to independent living
• Working knowledge of safeguarding and trauma-informed practice
• Strong written and verbal communication — you will produce keywork records, risk assessments and support plans to a professional standard
• Confident IT skills and the ability to use a digital case management system
• Enhanced DBS (Adults Workforce) on the Update Service, or willingness to apply; current safeguarding certificate, or willingness to complete on appointment
• Right to work in the UK
For the £32,000 rate:
• Level 3 (or above) in Health & Social Care, Housing or a related discipline, alongside the 12 months’ experience above
Desirable:
• Experience supporting young adults into education, employment or training
• Knowledge of the Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000, Care Act 2014 and Pathway Planning
• Experience with complex needs, mental health or substance use
Not quite one year’s experience yet? Ask about our Trainee Support Worker route: a 12–18 month funded Level 3 apprenticeship on £27,000, with a guaranteed move to the Support Worker scale on completion.
WHAT MAKES A GREAT ELSL SUPPORT WORKER
• Treats every young adult as a capable individual — not a case to be managed
• Understands that independence is built gradually, and shows up with patience and consistency
• Holds clear professional boundaries while staying warm and approachable
• Is solution-focused and creative enough to find a new way in when the obvious route isn’t working
• Is a confident advocate for residents with external agencies and professionals
• Takes ownership of their own development and reflective practice

About the role
The Side-by-Side project supports children in care and care leavers to have the same opportunities as those who have not experienced care.
For many young people, navigating the care system and especially the transition to leaving care can be complex, isolating, and overwhelming. Too often, care-experienced young people are expected to face adulthood before they are ready, without the safety nets of family, friends, and community networks that many of us take for granted.
The project provides a mentoring and befriending service, offering consistent, trusted relationships that help young people feel less alone, build confidence and life skills, and navigate key life changes as they move towards independence.
Side-by-Side supports young people with a range of needs, including those who may be at risk of exploitation, unaccompanied asylum-seeking children, and young people living with identified mental health challenges. The project is guided by strong safeguarding practice, built on trust, and delivered through trauma-informed, person-centred approaches.
Working 18 hours per week, you will work directly with young people through engagement sessions, group activities and co-designed initiatives. You will also work alongside volunteers, supporting them to safely and effectively engage with young people. This role does not involve acting as a young person’s key worker or holding a caseload. Instead your focus is on enabling connections, strengthening community networks and creating opportunities for young people to thrive across Solihull.
Please note this is a fixed term contract position for 12 months.
About you

- Build community links: develop relationships with local venues, services, and partners to support young people and Side-by-Side activities.
- Support volunteers: recruit, train, and guide volunteers, helping them signpost young people to relevant services.
- Engage young people: deliver activities, gather feedback, and support co-designed initiatives to ensure young people shape the services they receive.
- Live our values: all work is guided by trust, reducing loneliness, providing practical and emotional support, and delivering person-centred approaches.
