Job description

Do you want to work in a role supporting people to overcome significant barriers to accessing accommodation in Bristol and South Gloucestershire?

We are looking for two Complex Caseworkers to join a new regional service delivered by St Mungo’s and 4 partner organisations. The service will support people facing the greatest barriers to accessing and sustaining accommodation across Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

Working with around 80 people experiencing multiple disadvantage and rough sleeping, the service will focus on trauma-informed support. Our aim is to reduce rough sleeping through specialist casework, multi-disciplinary case reviews, personalised ‘My Team Around Me’ support, and the development of a regional rough sleeping strategy.

As a Complex Caseworker, you will manage a caseload of clients, providing intensive, relationship-based support to build trust, overcome barriers, and achieve positive outcomes. You will:

  • Build relationships and provide person centred support, specialist interventions, and multi-disciplinary approaches to secure sustainable outcomes.
  • Support clients to improve life skills and build recovery networks that address needs such as physical and mental health, or substance use.
  • Work with organisations, peers, and communities to help clients sustain accommodation, improve health, and access employment.
  • Work in partnership with statutory and VCFS organisations to support people experiencing multiple disadvantage and social exclusion.
  • Contribute to evidence-based practice and systemic change that benefits people experiencing severe and/or multiple disadvantage. The role is based at St Mungo’s central Bristol office, with regular travel across Bristol and South Gloucestershire.

It’s not always an easy job, but the opportunity to help individuals experiencing homelessness to overcome barriers and achieve outcomes is highly rewarding.

About you

Our purpose is to end homelessness and rebuild lives. We are always looking for people who share our ambitions. This rewarding role is an excellent next step for someone with existing experience working with people experiencing homelessness or other relevant challenges.

Our purpose is to end homelessness and rebuild lives. We are looking for someone with experience supporting people experiencing homelessness or other complex challenges.

If you can demonstrate the following, we'd love to hear from you:

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with a wide range of people.
  • Experience managing a caseload and delivering support services within homelessness, housing, or similar settings.
  • A good understanding of the complex issues faced by people experiencing homelessness and the barriers they face in accessing services.
  • A full UK driving licence (or equivalent) is desirable, or the ability to travel efficiently across Bristol and South Gloucestershire, including rural areas.

If you have the resilience and patience to support people with complex needs and challenging behaviour, we will provide the training and tools you need to help clients end rough sleeping for good.
