Job description

The role of Health Engagement Worker in the Enhanced Support Team will be employed by Justlife and embedded within the Enhanced Support Team (EST), a multi-disciplinary team supporting individuals experiencing rough sleeping, homelessness, and multiple disadvantage.

As part of a co-located multidisciplinary team, comprising social workers, housing professionals, mental health practitioners, substance misuse specialists and community support workers, the Health Engagement Worker will provide a coordinated response to client’s health needs and play a role among the city’s inclusion health services.

This includes helping people to register for medical services and accompanying them to appointments; supporting people with their physical and mental health and substance use; and advocating alongside people to access housing, benefits and other services. You will work closely with colleagues and other services to provide coordinated support.

Alongside experience of working in a related field, whether in a voluntary or paid capacity, you will bring empathy and strong relationship-building skills, as well as confidence in responding to changing circumstances and priorities. People experiencing homelessness may have experienced trauma, neglect, abuse and other difficult life experiences, which can affect their health, wellbeing and experiences of services. As the role involves lone working, you will need to be comfortable working independently and understand how to work safely, while having good self-awareness and resilience to maintain your own wellbeing.
