Job description

Disability Employment Advisor

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Disability Employment Advisor to support people with disabilities and health conditions to overcome barriers, develop their skills and move towards meaningful and sustainable employment.

You will work closely with individuals to understand their strengths, aspirations and support needs, providing personalised guidance throughout their journey into employment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one employment advice, guidance and support to people with disabilities and health conditions.

  • Build positive and trusting relationships with participants and understand their individual goals and aspirations.

  • Identify barriers to employment and develop personalised action plans to help individuals overcome them.

  • Support participants with job searching, applications, CVs, interview preparation and workplace skills.

  • Develop strong relationships with employers and promote inclusive employment opportunities.

  • Advocate for reasonable adjustments and appropriate workplace support.

  • Support individuals to access training, volunteering and work experience opportunities.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential records and monitor participant progress.

  • Work collaboratively with employers, families, support services and other professionals where appropriate.

  • Support individuals to sustain employment and address any challenges that arise in the workplace.

  • Promote equality, diversity and inclusion throughout all aspects of the service.

  • Meet agreed targets and contribute to the delivery and development of the employment programme.

  • Follow safeguarding, confidentiality, health and safety and organisational policies.

  • A confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Person-centred, empathetic and non-judgemental.

  • Organised and able to manage a caseload effectively.

  • Confident working with employers and developing professional relationships.

  • Knowledgeable about disability, employment support and workplace inclusion.

  • Able to motivate and empower people to recognise their strengths and achieve their goals.

  • Committed to equality, diversity and creating inclusive employment opportunities.
