Main Purpose of the Post 

To take the lead for Human Resources within Salford CVS, under the direction of the Deputy Chief Executive.

Salford CVS is recruiting a proactive Human Resources Officer to lead our HR function. Working closely with the Deputy Chief Executive, you’ll manage HR records, support recruitment and induction, ensure compliance with legislation and GDPR, and maintain up‑to‑date HR policies and processes. You’ll also coordinate staff training, benefits, and HR metrics to support organisational development.

This role is ideal for someone organised, confident with HR systems, and passionate about supporting a positive workplace culture.

Specific Duties

• Maintain all Human Resources records for staff members including holiday and absence records, staff appraisals and reviews
• Ensure that current Human Resources legislation is being correctly implemented across the organisation.
• Identify and recommend areas for system improvement
• Ensure that appropriate policies are in place and being followed by the workforce
• Support recruitment process lifecycle
• Support staff inductions and help staff to understand Salford CVS policies and values
• Coordinate any external staff benefit schemes, for example Hospital Saturday Fund
• Coordinate staff training and development requirements and to incorporate these into an organisation-wide training and development plan
• Compile and analyse information on HR issues, training, or other areas within the remit of this job function
• Use and manage SharePoint and MS365 tools to support Human Resources processes and document management
• Ensure compliance with GDPR and data protection regulations for all Human Resources records and processes
• Monitor and report on Human Resources metrics (e.g., turnover, absence rates) to inform decision-making

Main Purpose Of Job:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team in a dual-role capacity, supporting two vital services run in partnership with Homeless Oxfordshire and Connection Support. The role covers both our Step Down provision—designed for individuals discharged from hospital under the Discharge to Assess model—and our service at Mawle Court, which provides temporary accommodation and support for people with complex needs, including those preparing for more independent living or in need of emergency provision. You will lead on the case management of clients with complex needs, working collaboratively with partner agencies to develop and implement holistic, individualised support and move-on plans. At the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association, we are looking for a Relationship Fundraiser to join our team on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract. This is a fantastic opportunity where you will help strengthen connections with individuals, local businesses, and our branches and groups face-to-face across the region. This is a home-based role with travel requirements across: North and East Yorkshire. Applicants need to be based in or close to the designated region.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver community and local business fundraising events in your region
• Provide a tailored supporter journey through a range quality communications including meetings, calls and emails
• Support our branches and groups to grow income from local events, trusts, and corporates

Job Title: Community Outreach Officer (Scotland)

Team:  Ramblers Scotland

Contract: Fixed-term 9 months (with potential to extend)

Location: Scotland (Home-based or hybrid with access to Edinburgh co-working office and team meetings/connect days in Edinburgh and London)

*This role sits within a pay grade with a pay range of £32,395 to £48,593. The salary on appointment will be set at the lower end of the pay range, to a maximum of £35,635 depending on the candidate's skills and experience. This approach aims to ensure fair compensation for new hires while maintaining alignment with the structured pay scale for the role.

Context and Purpose of the role

The Community Outreach Project (Scotland) an initiative to bring the Ramblers strategy to life, and open the outdoors to some of the groups that have the most barriers to getting out walking.  The project works with community-based contacts in urban areas with a focus on refugees, asylum seekers and people from global majority communities.

Key responsibilities

· Lead on the design, development and implementation of the Community Outreach Project Scotland.

· Identify and develop new partnerships and opportunities to help grow and expand project and impact.  

· Assess and monitor risks, resolve issues, and ensure compliance with relevant policies and regulations.

·Contribute to the organisation approach to risk management

· Lead on and manage the project budget and programme evaluation and reporting.

· Overall responsibility for groups of inexperienced participants in outdoor settings using industry best

practice in risk management

· Capture success stories, case studies and good practice in how our work makes a difference.

· Work with the Scotland’s director and fundraising team to secure the funding and support required to sustain and expand project.

· Develop effective ways to build bridges between excluded communities and  existing Ramblers walking groups by building strong and proactive relationships with volunteers.

· Engage and work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders to provide accessible and sustainable walking experiences.

· Contribute to GB-wide strategic approach to community engagement with those who face the greatest barriers to benefit from being outdoors

· Engage and proactively develop excellent working relationships across the organisation

· Design and develop Community Outreach Traineeship

The person

Qualification

· Hill and Moorland or Mountain leader qualified (or trained with assessment pending) and a valid 16 hour Outdoor First Aid Certificate

Knowledge and Experience

· Experience of managing volunteers and staff including training and mentoring outdoor leaders0

· Experience of initiating strong external partnerships and collaborative internal relationships to deliver mutually beneficial activities and outcomes.

· Experience of successfully engaging communities in sport and physical activity programmes, in particular, outdoor activity provision.

· Experience of implementing change and working with others to adopt new ways of working.

· Experience of assessing and managing risk in relation to outdoor physical activity

Skills and Leadership

· Ability to plan, lead and develop a project with the related co-ordination, planning, organisational skills

· Ability to spot and exploit opportunities for growth in scale and impact, including by developing existing and new funder relationships

We are seeking an experienced individual to help us deliver a productive, empowering, needs-orientated programme of training and development activities for community rail groups. Under the guidance of the Training & Development Co-ordinator you will aim to strengthen the community rail movement and enhance the value it delivers to communities. 

About us 

Community Rail Network is a not-for-profit organisation, working across Britain to support a growing ‘community rail’ movement. Community rail promotes sustainable and inclusive travel, coordinates volunteering and place-making projects, and brings people together. 

Community rail is made up of 77 community-based partnership organisations, 1,300 station friends volunteer groups, and other community-led initiatives around Britain. Their activities range from creative projects with young people, to advising train operators on service improvements, to building travel confidence with families and marginalised groups, to biodiversity projects at stations, to promoting greener travel and tourism by rail. 

Our enthusiastic team of 23 works mainly from home in different locations, but we come together regularly in person and online. We work collaboratively to advise our members, provide training, events and resources, run campaigns, and champion community rail and its insights via decision-makers and the media. We believe in developing our team and supporting everyone to reach their potential while having a good work-life balance. 

 
Responsibilities: 

You are principally responsible for supporting the delivery of a year-round programme of high quality, empowering training and development opportunities for our members. The programme will be delivered in line with inclusion and accessibility best practice, will be largely online with some face-to-face sessions and events.

• Work with the Training and Development Co-ordinator to agree a rolling programme of training that supports member organisation capabilities and their impact on communities. 

• Topics will largely include areas required to achieve accreditation (for CRP’s) as well as good community-based practice for other member types. This includes but is not limited to training to support members with skills in creating and prioritising activity plans, project management, how to apply for grants and funding (including our own grants funds), how to prepare for an accreditation meeting, designing good outcomes and demonstrating organisational impact (including impact reports and use of social media), community engagement, volunteer recruitment, and co-production techniques. 

• Work with the Training & Development Co-ordinator to ensure your own understanding of these topics is current and identifying areas for personal development to support our training offer to be more robust. 

• Work with colleagues in other teams to set up, administer and deliver (largely online) webinars, networking and showcase events, setting them up, researching and engaging speakers and collating case studies to use, sending invites, facilitating the presenters and discussion during the event, and collating and reporting on feedback to inform future sessions. 

• Support the T&D Co-ordinator, colleagues in the regional support team, and communications team, to promote training and networking sessions effectively. 

• Where directed ensure we maintain high-quality training partnerships and opportunities that members can be signposted to and be responsible for administering our bursary scheme.

• Regularly report on bursary expenditure, member feedback, attendance figures and any specific funder requirements. 

• Be responsible for supporting member organisations and colleagues to use our impact reporting platform and to keep up to date on any changes in how we record and demonstrate the social, economic and environmental impact of community rail. 

• Attend team and all staff meetings, online and in person, contributing to strategic shared areas of work, information sharing and workforce development activities. 

Skills and competencies: 

1. Understanding, and experience of running, online and in person training and networking sessions, ideally within a community or not-for-profit context; 
2. Knowledge of, and ability to share effectively, key skill areas for example, volunteering recruitment and support, project management, applying for funding, co-production techniques, community engagement best practice, demonstrating outcomes and impact. 
3. A proven ability to work collaboratively, develop and maintain productive partnerships and joint activities, and form professional networks internally and externally; 
4. Demonstrable ability to manage time and resources effectively under pressure, and meet deadlines; 
5. Excellent writing, communication and presentational skills, including the ability to develop and deliver audience-appropriate training materials, presentations and other content to professional and community audiences; 
6. IT literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, the internet and social media; excellent administration skills and the ability to identify efficient and secure ways of working using AI; 
7. Awareness of social and sustainability issues and the relationship between transport and social and economic development.
