The Senior Head of Operations will play a central leadership role within RLSS UK, ensuring the charity operates effectively and efficiently. This is a strategic and hands-on operational role overseeing key areas of the corporate services directorate.

Main Purpose of the Post
The Chief Executive will have overall responsibility for all aspects of the day to day running of the RLSS and all its services. This will include management of staff and ensuring the services are meeting the needs of those who require them, in addition to managing finances, membership and external relationships. The Role
Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you will draft consultation responses, guidance, practice notes, policy papers, briefings, and inquiry submissions. You will represent the Law Society with government, policymakers, and partner organisations, advocating for the profession and helping to shape policy decisions. You will also contribute to member engagement initiatives, cross-organisational projects, and the wider Policy Team's work programme.
What we're looking for
We are looking for a strong policy professional with an interest in technology, innovation, and the legal sector. You will have experience analysing complex policy and legislative issues, developing practical policy solutions, and producing high-quality written materials for a variety of audiences.
You will be a confident communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to build effective relationships across a wide range of groups. The successful candidate will be proactive, collaborative, and adaptable, with the ability to manage competing priorities and contribute across a diverse policy portfolio. About the Service
The Complex Needs Housing Service works as a multi-disciplinary team with housing teams and Drug and Alcohol Services across District and Borough councils. These teams will be working with individuals who are presenting as homeless and have a number of Complex Needs. The service has been running since 2022 with a dual-district model, however, is now expanding to offer a single district outreach service.
We have roles available in the service in the following areas:
East Herts – supporting individuals who are homeless, in temporary accommodation or hostels in the district with their mental health
St. Albans – supporting individuals who are homeless, in temporary accommodation or hostels in the district with their mental health
Hertsmere – supporting individuals who are homeless, in temporary accommodation or hostels in the district with their mental health
South & West Hertfordshire – supporting women who have fled domestic abuse and currently residing in refuge/safe accommodation in the area with their mental health
North & East Hertfordshire – supporting women who have fled domestic abuse and currently residing in refuge/safe accommodation in the area with their mental health
N.B. Only female applicants will be considered for the two roles working supporting mental health of women who have fled domestic abuse and currently residing in refuge/safe accommodation

Reporting to the Head of Communications, you will play a key role in delivering IPSO’s communications activities, with a strong focus on digital channels and social media, internal communications, and day‑to‑day management of the IPSO website.

Skills and experience
We are looking for an experienced and proactive communications officer to cover maternity leave for a minimum of six months, starting in August or September 2026.
Working closely with colleagues across the organisation, the postholder will create clear, engaging content, monitor media coverage, and help ensure IPSO’s communications are accurate, accessible and aligned with its role as regulator of UK digital news, newspapers and magazines.
A personal interest in current affairs and the news industry is a must, but there is no need for a degree or qualification in this area. You will have strong interpersonal skills, an ability to get things done, and you will enjoy working with a range of colleagues and stakeholders.
You’ll also have excellent written skills and superb project management skills.

What we can offer you
This is a chance to deliver the communications of a high‑profile, independent regulator at the heart of the UK media landscape working on complex, high‑profile issues relating to journalism, regulation and press freedom.
This contract is for at least six months covering maternity leave. There is a competitive starting salary of £32,960, 25 days of paid annual leave (pro rata), and excellent additional benefits.
The role is full-time, and IPSO offers hybrid working to all staff. All staff work two core days (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) in our Central London office; members of the senior management team work an additional day in the office. New staff may be asked to come in for more days while they familiarise themselves with the organisation.

Head of Communications & Engagement (Maternity Cover)

The Head of Communications and Engagement leads the development and execution of War on Want’s organisational strategic communications plan. In doing so, they contribute to a wide range of shared organisational objectives including campaign, supporter engagement, and income generation priorities.
