ELBA is a leading social regeneration charity in east London. Our mission is to develop employee volunteering and employment initiatives to decrease poverty, improve social mobility and increase equality for communities in east London and beyond. We facilitate corporate and other investments from over 60 organisations into our community, education and employment programmes.

With over 35 years of experience enabling successful partnerships between businesses and communities, ELBA engages over 15,000 corporate employees in volunteer programmes that support employment, education and community initiatives. In 2023 the Community Works programme supported 126 charities and social enterprises through engaging employee volunteers in practical and skills-based volunteering opportunities.

Purpose of the job

To be responsible for the successful delivery of ELBA’s Dragon Award Nominated Evolve Project, delivering exciting, innovative employer-supported volunteering projects that meet the expectations of specific corporate supporters, and the needs of the community with a key geographical focus in Hackney, Tower Hamlets and Haringey.

About Evolve

The Evolve Project is a collaborative partnership between Linklaters, UBS, Societe Generale and the Societe Generale UK Foundation, delivered by ELBA. Overall, the Evolve project aims to address the wider barriers and challenges faced in society & by community organisations & charities with a particular focus on Hackney and its surrounding boroughs of Tower Hamlets & Haringey. The project does this through supporting community organisations who are addressing different barriers like post Covid recovery, and the cost-of-living crisis, alongside continuing challenges of funding & sustainability.

Evolve aims to build the capacity of thee organisations, especially supporting the leadership, so they can keep up with the increased demand they are experiencing. Evolve has been designed to dynamically respond to the changing needs of local community organisations, drawing on the time, skills and expertise of employee volunteers to address the most pressing community challenges. The project is currently in its fourth year with funding secured for the following two years.

The role requires an ability to build a close and collaborative relationship across the community sector, particularly in Hackney, as well as with the corporate funders. A key focus is developing and delivering a range of exciting employee volunteering activities (including the Leaders in Partnership and Emerging Leaders coaching programmes) as well as leading monthly delivery and quarterly steering group meetings with the three business partners to ensure volunteer engagement and session development is meeting the aims and objectives of the project.

The post will be managed by the Head of Programme, Connect which sits within the Community Works programme at ELBA. The post holder will have weekly one-to-one meetings for input and guidance to achieve agreed targets and will be subject to annual performance appraisals.

Job Description

Key Evolve duties

● Responsible for day-to-day development and delivery of the Evolve project

● Collaborate closely with community partners, corporate partners and the ELBA team to understand community needs and design appropriate employee volunteering activities to address these needs

● Deliver a range of employee volunteering opportunities focused on capacity building for local community organisations within the geographical remit

● Build and maintain strong relationships with Evolve partners’ Corporate Responsibility teams by organising regular meetings and responding promptly to company requests

● Develop and promote a range of employee volunteering opportunities to corporate partners and manage delivery of volunteer requests

● Organise delivery of monthly delivery meetings and quarterly project steering group meetings including preparation of supporting documents and minute taking

● Achieve good delivery targets of employee volunteers engaged and beneficiaries supported

● Maintain strong impact reporting for the project and long-term tracking

Main duties

● Build effective working relationships with ELBA corporate partner organisations to understand their business and functions, culture and priorities, generate opportunities suitable for their employees, manage expectations and deliver on activities in support of programme and project goals and objectives

● Identify and build relationships with a range of community stakeholders, including charities, community groups, social enterprises and grassroots organisations

● Assess organisational needs and develop creative corporate volunteering opportunities to meet the needs and build the capacity of community stakeholders

● Source, place, train and manage cohorts of corporate volunteers in line with business plan and project targets

● Identify a range of corporate volunteering opportunities that can facilitate large-scale participation and/or collaboration for ELBA corporate partners

● Generate regular communication items such as an annual report, programme impact reports, articles, write awards nominations and case studies and maximise the use of social media platforms

● Work with the Community team to ensure programme materials are kept up to date

● Implement effective evaluation and impact measurement tools in line with ELBA corporate partner requirements, ensuring that evaluation informs best practices to ensure continuous improvement

General

● Adhere to ELBA’s safeguarding policies and procedures at all times

● Develop a broad knowledge of regeneration programmes and local authority priorities in east London and specific geographical area

● Support the wider Community team with the planning and delivery of key events

● Support Connect Head of Programme to align Evolve’s offering with the wider Connect programme

● Use ELBA internal systems to maintain records and report progress, including due diligence and volunteer recording via Salesforce within set timescales

● Ensure that effective project management systems for monitoring and evaluation are in place and keep detailed records

● Complete monthly, quarterly and annual reports as required

● Proactively generate case studies, news articles, photos and social media content to promote the work of ELBA in line with ELBA communication targets and protocols

● Collaborate with other ELBA colleagues on projects where appropriate, and contribute to the development of ELBA as an organisation overall

High Trees are a charity working across 5 thematic service delivery areas and teams (Education and Training, Employment and Careers, Children, Young People and Families, Community Action and Research and Sector Support). All our work is held together by our Operations team, who provide the support and structure that allows all of our service delivery to take place and ensures High Trees as an organisation functions.

We are seeking a skilled Operations Administrator, providing general support across the organisation as a whole, but predominantly working with our Operations team and Co-CEOs to ensure that High Trees remains an effective organisation, able to make the most impact for our beneficiaries. This is a varied and rewarding role which will allow you to build your skills and understanding of how charities operate day-to-day as well as contribute to our governance and strategic ambitions. Your remit will include general office administration; including the admin needed to efficiently manage our offices and community buildings, ensuring our organisational policies and processes are routinely reviewed, updated and implemented; assisting with events; and supporting our governance processes.

You will also carry out the administrative HR functions for High Trees, inducting new staff, maintaining our records on our HR software, facilitating all staff to carry out our mandatory training and helping with the administration of our recruitment processes. You will work with the teams to ensure compliance with our HR policies, procedures and HR paperwork.

As the Events and Community Fundraising Manager, you will play a central role in developing and implementing MK SNAP’s marketing strategies, with a primary focus on events and community fundraising initiatives. Summary of Role

This is an exciting new role in our Talking Therapies team providing vital support to people in Manchester with common mental health problems. Working alongside counsellors, you will provide wrap-around social and practical support to adults on our waiting list for or who are engaging in Talking Therapy to enable them to address and overcome barriers impacting on their health and wellbeing. You will provide advice, information and guidance on these issues, make onward referrals to specialist advice organisations where necessary and support engagement with these services. 

You will build and maintain relationships with key referrers, such as GP surgeries, to promote the service and facilitate appropriate referrals.

Once trained, you have the exciting task of leading and facilitating a new course within the service: Living Life to the Full™, a CBT-informed group programme designed to support people to improve low mood, overcome stress, sleep better and build confidence.

We are River Action

We are a small and agile campaigning organisation on a mission to rescue Britain’s rivers from a toxic cocktail of agricultural, sewage and industrial pollution. We support community action, galvanise and mobilise public opinion, influence government policy, and call out destructive industrial practices to incentivise changes that end pollution. 

We are building a talented team of positive disrupters and community mobilisers to deliver our strategy to urgently protect and restore our rivers for the benefit of community and wildlife.

Britain’s rivers are our life support system and they are dying. We need urgent action to bring them back to life.

Who we are looking for:

We are looking for highly engaged people who share our passion for rivers, wildlife and people who bring a creative, collaborative and investigative approach to campaigning. For this role we are looking for a confident and resilient community organiser who can build strong relationships to support communities to create change locally.

What you’ll be doing:

The Communities Coordinator will support community groups to campaign for clean rivers at a local level. By facilitating grass roots action you’ll be galvanising a strong and powerful network of community activists that have the power to create change both locally and nationally. You’ll be responsible for taking River Action’s national campaign strategy to a local level. You’ll work closely with the Campaigns Manager and the wider team to develop a Community Toolkit (including advice for activists, and guidance and services for communications, fundraising, legal support and citizen science projects) to support communities as well as provide strategic support to empower community activists to campaign for clean rivers. You’ll work closely with the Campaigns Manager and wider team to amplify the stories of those taking action at a local level and connect campaign groups to the wider national agenda. You’ll be working collaboratively with the River Action team to devise, develop and deliver our strategy ensuring our programme of community engagement is equitable, diverse and inclusive. You’ll be working closely with other organisations to ensure our community support compliments the work of others and meets the needs of community groups we work with. 

Main Duties 

• Contribute to the development and implementation of River Action’s campaign strategy.

• Develop River Action’s Community Toolkit as a package of support for local campaign groups. 

• Identify community groups within river catchments areas River Action is working and build positive and impactful relationships..

• Organise site visits to develop good relationships and in-depth understanding of local issues impacting river health.

• Convene and align local stakeholders around river catchment and regional campaigns.

• Facilitate local community groups’ campaigns and provide support in line with our toolkit’s support package.

• Facilitate the creation of community group citizen science projects, integrated within a national system for gathering and sharing evidence of pollution.

• Organise community crowdfunding for citizen science and communications.

• Plan and host webinars, training sessions and online and in person events.

• Develop good working relationships with regulators including Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales and Scottish Environment and Protection Agency. 

• Support the CEO and Campaigns Manager to identify and deliver legal challenges at a local level.

• Maintain and develop partnerships and working relationships with other key groups and stakeholders working in similar areas of work to River Action.

• Identify opportunities to engage, empower and expand River Action’s network of supporters. 

• Support the Communications Coordinator to create inspiring and engaging digital media content and news stories, including taking photographs and videos and conducting interviews.

• Support the Campaigns Manager and Communication Coordinator in responding to the reactive news agenda.

• Contribute to the Monitoring and Evaluation system for demonstrating impact of River Action’s community engagement work, reporting against KPIs. 

• Contribute to fundraising efforts particularly crowdfunding and drafting of funding proposals to support Campaigns and Fundraising Teams and the charity’s mission.

• Work as a motivated and collaborative team player within a fast-paced team.

• Carry out any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the post as requested by your line manager or any other member of the River Action team.

About the role

We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity available for a home-based Community Development Co-ordinator to join our team in Swindon, engaging with the local community, until 31st March 2025.
 
Alzheimer’s Society secured grant funding from the Shared Prosperity Fund to deliver community development in Swindon; as part of this you will promote Dementia awareness with a specific aim to reduce inequalities and reach those with protected characteristics, or people experiencing multiple deprivations. In addition, you will work with those individuals experiencing and/or at risk of other health inequalities.
 
You will also:

- lead and engage communities to recognise dementia and understand how to navigate around health and social care system.
- have a flair for building trusted relationships and be flexible to attend events that happen at culturally important times for those communities we serve.
- demonstrate empathy and understanding of equity, diversity and inclusion, and what may be barriers to accessing a diagnosis of dementia, or health and social care systems.
- actively explore new possibilities for awareness raising.

Director of Small Charity

We are looking for community-focused person, with vision, skills and enthusiasm to become the first Director of our small charity and help to deliver our ambitious plans. Our Roehampton is a registered charitable company that is embarking on an exciting period of development to establish itself as a community-led anchor organisation for Roehampton in the London Borough of Wandsworth.

You could be someone who’s managed a community organisation before or has experience of managing projects in a community setting and now wants to take on a leadership role.  The successful candidate will have proven community development and engagement skills as well as be able to work strategically to lead and support the development of the charity;  you will be equally comfortable supporting a group of residents with ideas for a new activity, hosting a meeting of the Roehampton Network and liaising with local authority or health partners on strategic matters. You will have experience of staff and/or volunteer management and have the organisational skills to ensure Our Roehampton runs as a safe, legally compliant organisation. CamSight is a respected charity that supports people living with low vision and blindness in Cambridgeshire to live the lives they choose. The charity offers an holistic service ensuring any person with a vision impairment gets the support they need, when they need it.

We’re looking for someone to train as a Community Energy Champion to be able to provide energy advice to people in communities.

You will visit clients at home to complete Home Energy Audits, providing information and individualised support, and facilitating access to options which will improve people’s wellbeing and energy security. This will include recommending grants and helping complete applications and forms.  

As a Community Energy Champion, you will deliver face-to-face and virtual energy workshops to parent groups, carers groups, community groups and others. There is also the opportunity to  work with energy and water providers and other organisations to arrange themed workshop sessions.

This role will suit someone with excellent communication, planning skills, time management and an adaptable working style. Applicants should have relevant experience of delivering information and advice to a range of client groups. You must be confident using IT and will be trained to use our client database.

This is a part-time role (22.5 hours) and is 1 year fixed-term based at our office in New Ash Green, and the applicant will be expected to travel to other areas. Own car essential.

Context of the role.

The successful candidate will be guided by the Communications & Fundraising Officer to communicate the experiences of refugees and asylum seekers and demonstrate the impact of Upbeat Communities to our supporters and followers, as well as to new audiences. They will have a positive attitude and love communicating what we do as a charity.

The role can mostly be done remotely; however, it will be required for the candidate to travel to our base in Derby a minimum of 1 day a week to stay connected to the team, and for team meetings and training as and when they occur.

•  Creating written and visual content for social media and our website.
• Finding useful resources, articles, and news to be shared on our website, blog and social media.

•  Day-to-day management of Upbeat’s social media accounts including creating and scheduling content, replying to messages, and interacting with followers.
•  Updating the website with relevant images, statistics, and news.

Supporter stewardship

• Following Upbeat’s donations process, ensure donors are thanked in an appropriate and timely manner, and that all communications are logged on to our database (Donorfy).
• Researching local fundraising or awareness-raising opportunities and events.
