We're looking for a Community Fundraising Officer, based at our rehoming centre in West Calder, to promote the work of Dogs Trust to key audience groups and deliver excellent customer care for all Dogs Trust supporters, but particularly potential and existing legacy pledgers.
What does this role do?
As Community Fundraising Officer, you’ll:
- link the rehoming centre with supporters in the local community, developing relationships with local individuals, businesses, community groups and clubs,
- feed into various income streams through these relationships, identifying prospects in the community and develop a pipeline of future donors and legacy donations,
- steward existing and potential donors, always providing them with a seamless supporter journey, ensuring they have a clear understanding of the work we do and feel motivated to support our meaningful local work,
- organise supporter events, talks and tours both onsite and externally.
- completing all administration related to donations to the centre, including thanking and banking.
Interviews for this role are provisionally scheduled for 8th and 9th June 2026, and will take place at our rehoming centre in West Calder.
Could this be you?
To be successful in this role, you’ll need some community fundraising experience, with the ability to build connections and connect with the local community. To do this, you’ll need excellent communication skills and be able to confidently approach and interact with supporters. While you’ll be a key part of the rehoming centre team, you’ll be regularly be working independently, so strong organisational skills and a proactive approach is essential.
This role is based at the rehoming centre, and the post holder will spend lots of time in the community meeting supporters. The working pattern is typically Monday to Friday, but flexibility is required and is likely to involve some evening and weekend work, depending on the nature of the work.

We’re looking for a Head of Supporter Development to oversee our supporter communications journey, collaborating with various teams to ensure our supporters receive the best care and attention.
What does this role do?
As Head of Supporter Development, you will:
- Lead and transform how we engage with supporters, embedding a cultural shift and supporting teams to deliver on strategic objectives,
- Implement the supporter engagement strategy, including producing annual plans and a programme for regularly monitoring and evaluation activity, continuously improving the approach to enhance outcomes,

About IKWRO
IKWRO –Women’s Rights Organisation (IKWRO) is an award-winning charity founded (as the Iranian and Kurdish Women’s Rights Organisation) in 2002. IKWRO is a registered charity which provides advice and support to Middle Eastern, North African and Afghan women and girls living in the UK, who have experienced, or are at risk of all forms of “honour” based abuse, including; forced marriage, child marriage and female genital mutilation (FGM), or domestic abuse.
We work with women and girls of all ages, including lesbian women, bisexual women and trans women. We offer services in Kurdish, Farsi, Arabic, Dari, Pashto, Turkish and English. IKWRO offers free advice, advocacy and counselling services and operates a refuge which provides safe accommodation and specialist support to single women at risk of “honour” based abuse, forced marriage and domestic abuse.
IKWRO also provides training for women and girls to help them understand their rights in the UK. In partnership with other organisations, we assist survivors of abuse with accessing English language classes and education, training and employment opportunities.
As well as supporting women and girls directly, we offer advice and training for professionals from the statutory and voluntary sectors, to better understand the needs of the women and girls we represent, the types of abuse they experience and to provide best practice prevention and support services.
We campaign to increase awareness and improve laws and policies to tackle all forms of “honour” based abuse and harmful practices including; forced marriage, child marriage, marital captivity, female genital mutilation, virginity testing and hymenoplasty, discrimination by sharia courts and to push for better laws and policies to protect women’s and girl’s rights.
Purpose of Job
The Fundraising Officer will work as part of the Fundraising and Marketing team and will be responsible for:

Ways of working:

A rare opportunity to create and lead Individual Giving and Legacies at a pivotal point of growth within an ambitious fundraising team. This role will define the strategy and create and deliver on establishing income streams that will be central to future success. MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The role will lead the creation and delivery of Individual Giving and Legacies programmes, establishing two core income streams that will drive sustainable growth. It will define strategy, build insight-led, multi-channel programmes and design supporter journeys that deepen engagement over time, from first gift to long term support and legacy giving.
Working across the organisation the postholder will embed a strong supporter focus, ensuring that fundraising is integrated into wider engagement activity. You will take ownership of income performance, budgets and continuous improvement through data, testing and learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver the Individual Giving and Legacies strategy, covering acquisition, retention, regular giving and legacy development.
- Design and deliver integrated multi-channel campaigns to grow income and lifetime value.
- Build and optimize end-to-end supporter journeys, including pathways to legacy giving.
- Grow and develop legacy income including awareness, pipeline development and stewardship approaches.
- Use data, segmentation and insight to drive decision making, improve performance and increase retention.
- Set, manage and reforecast budgets ensuring delivery against income targets.

- Significant experience in Individual Giving and/or Legacy fundraising with exposure to both areas.
- Proven track record of delivering income growth through campaigns or programme development.
- Experience developing and delivering multi-channel fundraising activity.
- Strong understanding of supporter journeys, retention and lifetime value including pathways to legacy giving.
- Experience using data, segmentation and insight to drive performance.
- Experience managing budgets, targets and forecasting.

About the role
Sitting within the Community & Events Team, and more broadly the Income & Engagement Department, the Community Fundraising Officer plays a vital role in supporting the long-term growth, development, and delivery of Sands’ community fundraising activities.
This is a new role at Sands, and it is an exciting time to join our growing team. This role will support acquisition activity, national campaign delivery and provide outstanding stewardship to fundraisers, community group and Sands groups, maximising their fundraising efforts and strengthening their relationship to Sands. You will also support the development of Sands regional fundraising approach, providing operational and administrative support to the Community Fundraising Manager.
The role is key to enabling the scaling of national community campaigns, enhancing supporter led fundraising activity, delivering high quality supporter stewardship, and supporting the future development of Sands’ emerging regional fundraising model.
Main Responsibilities
Community Fundraising Delivery & Growth
- Working with the Community Fundraising Manager, develop and deliver a community fundraising strategy for both new and existing activities.
- Support and assist with the delivery of Sands' community fundraising portfolio, ensuring activities are monitored and excellent supporter experience is given so to maximise impact and growth of each product.
- Provide operational and administrative support across the community fundraising pipeline, including, building web pages and ad campaigns, managing enquiries, recording activity on the database, drafting communication and creating e comms.
- Support the implementation of Sands’ regional fundraising model over the next strategy period, working with internal teams to establish ways of working, build best practice and, to identify opportunities for local engagement and increased income.
Supporter Stewardship & Relationship Management
- Deliver high quality, personalised stewardship for supporter led community fundraisers, community groups, schools, clubs and societies, ensuring supporters feel valued, inspired and supported throughout their fundraising efforts.
- Maintain regular communication with supporters via email, phone, and social platforms, ensuring prompt responses, clear guidance and automating where appropriate to improve efficiency.
- Provide proactive stewardship to high potential fundraisers and groups, helping them reach and exceed their targets.
- Work in collaboration with the Supporter Care Team to ensure seamless supporter journeys and continuity of communication.

Marketing & Engagement
