Job description

Britain Yearly Meeting is setting up a Britain-wide network of local development teams to support Quaker communities. Over the next three to five years, we will be placing workers within reach of every Quaker community in Britain – a key part of our plans to reinvigorate Quakerism and to help Quaker communities thrive.

The Local Development Team Leader will manage the existing local development team of four people currently working alongside Quaker communities. During 2020, you and another Team Leader will oversee four new Local Development Workers in new areas. You will participate in the strategic growth of local development work, helping to identify and meet needs, in collaboration with Friends and with our partner organisation, Woodbrooke.

We’re looking for someone who is excited by what spirit-led growth might mean in a faith context. You will have experience of building and managing dispersed teams, and of reshaping work to better meet the needs of beneficiaries. You will be able to empower team members, enabling visionary and creative responses to trends and growth points. You will also have experience of monitoring and evaluating community-led programmes. As the programme develops, there may be opportunities to deliver some development work, or to take the strategic lead on a particular support theme.

This is a full-time (35 hours per week) post, with frequent weekend and evening work and the option to discuss 28 or 31½ hours per week.
