ROLE OVERVIEW

As the Senior Income Generation Manager, you will be instrumental in spearheading income generation initiatives to achieve our Business Plan objectives. Working closely with the Head of Development and Quality, as well as our Senior Leadership Team, you will envision income generation proposals that leverage our strengths and foster synergies within our community-based services. Your strategic leadership and partnership development skills will be crucial in driving our mission forward.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Researching, applying for, and managing grants, tenders, and bids, in collaboration with our Business Development Officer.
• Overseeing the Fundraising Manager and their team to maximise fundraised income through community engagement and achieve targets for service expansion.
• Collaborating with the Communications Manager to raise awareness of our services and funding needs.
• Leading strategic initiatives to foster partnerships and secure sustainable funding sources.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Good understanding of funding sources for the public and voluntary sector, particularly within homelessness services.
• Familiarity with commissioning and procurement processes related to the voluntary sector.
• Experience in managing or delivering fundraising targets and creating comprehensive fundraising strategies.
• Proven track record in successful bid and grant applications, from conception to delivery.
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong analytical skills, with experience in utilising data to develop business cases and communication strategies.

Head of Fundraising & Communications

EDUCATION FOR ALL MOROCCO transforms the lives of marginalised girls, in the High Atlas mountains, enabling them to fulfil their potential, reducing social injustice and inequalities, improving the quality of life for women, and their communities.

Prior to the Al Haouz earthquake in September 2023 EFA funded six boarding houses, enabling young women to access senior school education. Five boarding houses were destroyed. Astonishingly, no girls or staff were in them at the time.

We are unashamedly ambitious to build on EFAs transformational work over the last two decades. Our Covid Recovery Strategy focussed on widening our impact, and the earthquake has just made us even more determined to deliver on our promise, because we have never been more relevant.

Due to the extraordinary generosity of donors, we have funding in place to support a major rebuilding programme. However we don't want to simply rebuild. Due to covid and the earthquake there is a lot of catching up to do.

As Head of Fundraising & Communications you will work with the trustees to deliver the strategic vision, by developing and implementing a  successful fundraising and communications strategy.  A new website is under construction and the successful applicant will play a leading role in determining its fundraising functionality, content, and messaging.

-     A confident understanding of relevant compliance legislation, and financial and budgetary management experience. 

In a typical month you’ll:

-Plan, execute, fundraising events and campaigns, attend conferences, develop compelling social media stories. 

-Undertake research, identify new funding opportunities, write donor proposals, complete donor grant applications.

-Liaise with Moroccan partners, co-ordinate marketing, and fundraising activities.

-Work with donors, developing a range of benefits, events, and engagement opportunities.

-Working with trustees, prepare a monthly update report.

-Manage administrative and compliance tasks including a budget, logging donor communications into the database etc. 

-Evaluate the impact and update policies and procedures.

Position: Head of Fundraising & Communications

Responsible: to Deputy Chair Finance Committee

Location:  remote, withoccasional meetings in London. An annual strategy weekend in Marrakech in November. 

Hours: 35 hrs per week (compressed).

Salary: £40,000 £42,000 per annum.

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Community Fundraiser to join our Community Fundraising Team. 

Reporting to the Community Fundraising and Events Manager, you will support the team in generating vital income through professional community stewardship in a role where no two days are the same! 

You will support the local community, our supporters and volunteers, nurturing relationships and working with key partners and stakeholders to maximise income generation opportunities, attending community organised events. You will be joining a friendly team who will support you and help you to develop your skills. 

 To be successful, you will be a flexible team player, with some previous fundraising experience, ideally within a community setting. You will be available to work evenings and weekends, be a good organiser, have excellent customer service skills and an outgoing, friendly personality with a passion for fun and success. 

 You will need to be physically fit and able to safely move and handle event equipment, some of which is heavy. You will also need a driving licence (category B+E), access to a vehicle and be over 25 (an insurance requirement to drive the Hospice van).  

About the Hospice 

Set in the tranquil grounds of Willen Lake, Willen Hospice is the leading provider of specialist palliative care within the Milton Keynes area. We offer 24 hour / seven days a week palliative care to people who have advanced disease, caring for people in our Inpatient Unit which accommodates 15 patients and the local community. Our person-centred care is delivered with compassion and respect for people’s wishes. We have an expanding Therapeutic & Wellbeing service offering Psychological Wellbeing, Social Care, Physiotherapy, Occupational and Complementary Therapy.  Our dedicated Business Development teams and retail portfolio of shops raise vital funds to deliver this care.

The role:

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Community/Events fundraiser, who has a passion for the cause of homelessness. You will continue to build a sustainable Events & Community fundraising programme. The role will involve building relationships with donors and fundraisers to increase income from corporates, individuals, and legacies. 

This role plays a pivotal role in growing York Road Project’s voluntary income as well as raising awareness and brand recognition in our local area. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the Chief Executive and Fundraising sub-committee to develop and implement a fundraising strategy and execution plan that meet the organisation's income targets.

• Support the Chief Executive in building relationships with major donors.

• Proactively seek out and develop new funding opportunities, with an emphasis on chasing opportunities for long-term and unrestricted income. 

• Develop a York Road Project annual fundraising event/campaign, overseeing all administrative tasks, such as mailing list preparation, guest lists, and distribution on campaign items.

• Promote ‘challenge events’ (such as the Surrey Half Marathon) and encourage supporters to take part.

• Encourage supporters to leave legacies in their wills to support the work of the organisation.

• Collaborate with other colleagues and trustees to ensure a coordinated approach to fundraising.

• Accurately record and manage donor data, keeping records up-to-date and GDPR compliant.

• Promote the idea of regular donations to our ad-hoc donors.

• Stay current on fundraising trends and techniques, act as the charity’s thought-leading expert, and drive these trends and techniques into the organisation's fundraising activities.

• Ensure that all fundraising activities comply with relevant regulation and ethical 

standards; for example, The Fundraising Regulator, The Charity Commission etc.

• Create marketing and promotional material in accordance with York Road Project branding, to support fundraising activities as required.

• Develop a volunteer program to enhance community involvement and contribute to the achievement of organisational objectives. These activities will be fundraising related, in order to engage local businesses.

• Identify opportunities to develop funding support from companies and organisations to elicit support (at local, regional, and national levels).

• Manage low risk press releases and enquiries.

• Create content for social media (and other digital channels) while always ensuring consistency in line with brand guidelines. 

• Plan and drive digital campaigns including Small Charity Week and World Homeless Day.

We are looking for a skilled trusts and foundations fundraiser, with expertise of securing 6-figure, multi-year funding from grant funders, charitable foundations, lottery or statutory sources. They should have first class research and prospecting skills that are combined with awareness of innovations and upcoming trends in the area of income generation. Someone who can thrive on collaborative working and combine this strategic thinking, plus being able to work with a diverse range of staff and volunteers to ensure relevant information is captured in proposal creation as well as ensuring outputs are correctly monitored for reporting to donors would be a perfect fit.

Work Location/Hybrid Working Pattern

This role will be based at our Head Office in central London. Mothers’ Union operates a hybrid working model. Staff are required to work an aggregate minimum of 90 days per calendar year (pro rata for part timers) at our Head Office, Mary Sumner House in central London. Tuesdays are our anchor days where every staff member is expected to be at the office. The 90 days includes anchor Tuesdays. In addition, Thursday is a core working day where part time staff are expected to work, either at home or from the office as needed.

Fundraising Manager

Responsibilites:

Fundraising – General 

• To deliver a continuous fundraising operation to meet the short, medium and long-term revenue needs of the charity as determined by the CEO and Board of Trustees 
• Establish and maintain positive relationships across the organisation and an in-depth understanding of the charity’s needs and priorities to ensure your fundraising activity contributes positively 
• Development and maintenance of key resources to support our fundraising activity, including case for support, programme schedule and budgets 
• To develop corporate sponsorship proposals and be prepared to respond promptly to funding offers and opportunities 
• To steward regular donors, ensure they receive appropriate thanks and are kept informed
• Develop strategy to increase number of regular donors through the implementation of a regular giving programme 
• Grow and manage the regular donors’ scheme, Payroll Giving, In-Memory giving, and appeals, contributing to the overall fundraising strategy. 
• Champion the use of data and insight to drive regular giving, utilising database (Beacon) for effective prospect and donor management 
• Monitor, evaluate, and forecast campaign performance, ensuring targets are met and providing reports as required

Fundraising – Trusts & Foundations 

• Researching fundraising opportunities which are likely to fund the work of CHN, writing compelling grant applications and building and managing a new business pipeline to deliver year-on-year growth in Trust and Foundations Fundraising income 
• Cultivate relationships with prospects and identify appropriate projects or areas of CHN’s work to meet their criteria, developing tailored, persuasive funding proposals 
• Deliver first-class grant management – taking responsibility for all requirements of funders including impact reporting, financial monitoring and reporting 
• Ensure robust and practical monitoring and evaluation plans are in place to demonstrate the impact of grants you manage and report effectively to funders 

Relationship Management 

• Provide excellent stewardship and supporter care to regular donors 
• Produce and deliver tailored engagement plans to deepen and grow CHN donor relationships
• Build and maintain strong internal relationships across the charity to ensure the delivery of CHN’s obligations to our funders 
• Represent CHN at events and networking opportunities as required 

Events 

• Create plan and oversee and work events with the help of a Fundraising/Community Engagement Assistant 
• Line manage Fundraising/Community Engagement Assistant. 

General 

• Manage and provide relevant training for the Fundraising/Event Assistant/Officer 
• Work with the Marcomms Manager and the finance team on the annual fundraising planning process to produce effective budgets and strategies to achieve income targets across all revenue streams 
• Create and manage the community engagement strategy and annual plan to maintain and further raise the profile of the charity while protecting brand by acting as the ‘brand guardian’ 
• Ensure that all activity is compliant with policies and procedures 
• Actively keep current with trends in fundraising

Person Specification: 

• Proven track record in developing and implementing successful fundraising strategies and campaigns, ideally with at least 3 years experience in the charity sector or demonstrate they have transferrable skills to move into the charity sector. 
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as the necessary with the nature of the job. 
• Demonstrated ability to raise substantial fundraised income and achieve targets 
• Effective stakeholder management skills, both internally and externally, previous experience of managing client relationships 
• Experience in budget management, reporting, and forecasting 
• Proficient research and project management skills 
• Strong organisation and communication skills, both verbal and written, to influence, motivate, and persuade donors 
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and CRMs

Community Fundraising and Communications Engagement Assistant

£22,500 to £26,000 (FTE dependent on experience). Responsible to the Fundraising Manager and Marcomms Manager. Two days per week (worked over three days if preferable. Based at Jecca’s House

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the creation, planning, setting up and working at fundraising and community awareness events 
• Face to face community work in the form of hosting coffee mornings and fundraising/engagement events 
• Face to face collection of raffle prizes etc within our communities 
• Poster erection and flyer distribution 
• Recording data from events 
• Work closely with both managers in the MARCOMMS team 

MARCOMMS/Fundraising – General 

• To help the Fundraising Manager deliver a continuous fundraising operation to meet the short, medium and long-term revenue needs of the charity as determined by the CEO and Board of Trustees 
• Establish and maintain positive relationships across the organisation and an in-depth understanding of the charity’s needs and priorities to ensure your fundraising activity contributes positively 
• Monitor, record and evaluate event performance, ensuring targets are met and providing reports as required 
• Spotting fundraising and communication opportunities and raising awareness of CHNs work 

General 

• Integrate with all members of the CHN team to learn the business and gain a full understanding of the charities work in order to communicate this to a wider external audience 
• Work with the MARCOMMS team to create social media posts when necessary 
• Design posters, tickets and flyers on CANVA or a similar design tool for events 
• Help with the community engagement strategy and annual plan to maintain and further raise the profile of the charity while protecting brand by acting as the ‘brand guardian’ 
• Ensure that all activity is compliant with policies and procedures 
• Actively keep current with trends in fundraising 

Person Specification 

• You will be highly organised, used to working in a fast-paced and autonomous environment and need to be able to plan ahead. 
• You will be proactive, flexible, creative, resilient and able to plan ahead.
• Flexibility is key as this role will require evening and weekend work, time will be given in lieu for hours worked in this situation 
• Computer literate as there will be database and design tools such as Canva to use 
• A team player as you will work with the Fundraising Manager and Communications Manager. Prioritisation is second nature.
• You will be confident using social media, and objective and flexible in the way you use the tools and platforms available. 
• Experience using CRMs is desirable but not essential. 
• This role can be physical – the successful candidate will be involved in setting up and closing of events which may entail some heavy moving and carrying. 

Experience 

• Previous experience working in a similar role (assisting with events, fundraising and communications
• customer service experience desirable

Job Profile

Your role will be to research and monitor a pipeline of prospects, and work with the team to update and steward current donors, also identify and research new prospects and community and corporate partners. You will also carry out research to support fundraisers to make informed decisions to engage, cultivate, and solicit gifts from prospects and peer to peer networks.

Fundraising Manager – Job Description

Contract: 3 days a week

Location: Hybrid/home-based with at least half a day a week on site in Newham.

Key Responsibilities

· Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising plans to achieve annual income targets in alignment with organisational goals.

· Work with the COO to develop long-term income forecasts to support organisational
plans.

· Identify new fundraising opportunities across all donor groups and develop innovative approaches to diversify income streams.

· Research, write, and submit compelling grant proposals to trusts, foundations, and other grant-making entities.

· Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies and plans.

· Experience using Salesforce is a bonus.
