Job Title: Registered Area Manager

Salary: £60,780 per annum + £750 Homeworking Allowance per annum + £1,500 Out of Hours Allowance per annum

The East Midlands service has been rated as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted and the successful candidate will need to continue to prioritise trauma informed and therapeutic methodologies and actively support/encourage diversity and inclusion within all aspects of the role alongside contributing to the provision of services for to our families across the East Midlands region.

This role will report directly to the Operational Director of Children's Services and is non-case holding role, however, there may be the need to occasionally cover casework due to staff sickness or leave.

In this role you will be responsible for the smooth running of a staff team of Deputy Area Managers, Social Workers, Family Finders, Recruitment Managers & Officers, Consultants, Panel Members, Administration Team and Children’s and Young People's Resource Workers. 

The main role requirements for the Registered Area Manager role includes:

• A Level 5 Management Qualification (or a willingness to enrol on such a course within 6 months of appointment and to complete within 3 years)
• A minimum of 3 - 5 years post qualifying experience in fostering or in other childcare settings
• A proven track record in working with and on behalf of children, respecting and maintaining their individuality and promoting their positive development
• Experience of managing a diverse and experienced team, ideally remotely
• Experience of group work and/or delivery of training
• Up to date knowledge of relevant legislation including the Fostering National Minimum Standards and Fostering regulations
• Ability to prioritise, plan and self-organise efficiently
• Excellent communication skills and ability to use IT effectively, including participating in virtual meetings and webinars.
• Ensuring regulatory compliance including service monitoring
• Responsible for the safeguarding of children and young people
• Taking part in the out-of-hours rota.
• Delivery of the Service Operational Plan which will include the management of budget and contracts

In this role, you will be working with engineering, product and research colleagues to build confidence using observability principles that aids our understanding of our users and help us continually improve our products. We work together in product squads alongside designers, researchers and education experts, regularly releasing new features and improvements to give teachers and their pupils quick and easy access to the highest quality learning resources.

As a young organisation we have been able to leverage the latest technologies to rapidly build and deliver the game changing products we have. Now that we've proven ourselves and are established, we want to mature our processes to ensure we are getting the best out of the technology and remain able to respond quickly to business needs. We see this role as being a key part of that change.

You will be tasked with raising our monitoring and observability to a high standard across all our key applications while working closely with engineering teams to help them improve the stability of their applications and give engineers more sense of ownership.

You will also drive site reliability engineering principles and be a key driver of automation by working alongside other members of the platform team, helping to improve the overall developer experience.

Candidates must have a good understanding of SRE principles and the value they bring to an organisation. While a good grounding in development practices, security fundamentals and infrastructure operation are key, specific technical skills are less important than a passion for automation, an ability to understand complex systems and a keenness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Lead the continuous improvement of the observability, performance, and reliability of our web applications (Next.js, JavaScript, Typescript, Node), Serverless Functions (Google Cloud Functions, Cloudflare). Deployed on PaaS Infrastructure (Vercel, Cloudflare).

• Promote and nurture a culture of quality across the product and engineering department, enabling teams in using SLO/SLAs to ensure they maintain a high quality of service delivery.

• Take ownership of our observability, monitoring, logging and reporting solutions to ensure they are easy to use and provide development teams with the information they need to understand service quality, resolve problems quickly, and get meaningful insights into application behaviour.

• Identify and implement ways in which automation can be used to speed up development, secure systems or improve the quality of the services we provide.

Knowledge, skills, and experience

• The ideal candidate would have strong professional experience leading the continuous improvement of event-driven architectures using Serverless technologies such as Google Cloud Run, AWS Lambda or Azure Serverless.

• Considerable experience in designing and implementing monitoring, observability and reporting solutions for complex cloud infrastructures within a major cloud provider (GCP, AWS, Azure). In production we’re using Datadog as our main monitoring platform.

• Confident in understanding and maintaining web application code and able to design and build small apps, preferably using JavaScript/TypeScript.

• Experience working with Cloud computing platforms and a familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools. We’ve chosen Terraform as our Infrastructure as Code tool.

About the role

We’re looking for a highly creative, organised, and experienced Marketing and Content Executive to support the delivery of engaging, high-impact marketing across our growing, purpose-led organisation.

Working closely with the Senior Marketing and Campaigns Manager, you’ll play a key role in producing and managing digital content, with a strong focus on social media, web design, and copywriting.

In this fast-paced role, you’ll drive our social media strategy, produce engaging content and blogs, and manage the design and research for our online Suicide Prevention Hubs. You’ll create compelling copy and visuals across multiple platforms and develop email campaigns and marketing strategies to boost our training course sales and sign-ups.

You’ll have hands-on experience with tools such as Mailchimp, Canva, WordPress, Google Analytics, Hootsuite, and Adobe Creative Suite.

We’re looking for someone who is self-assured, able to manage multiple priorities, and deliver high-quality work consistently. You should be comfortable working independently, making informed decisions, and taking ownership of your workload, while receiving guidance, input, and support from your line manager and the Head of Marketing and Communications.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage the creation and delivery of engaging, on-brand content across social media channels, collaborating with the Senior Marketing and Campaigns Manager to enhance reach and visibility.
• Keep our accounts a safe space by taking swift action on abusive or harmful comments, with full support from the team and training in our Social Media policies.
• Oversee the creation, design, and research of our Suicide Prevention Hubs, collaborating with charity partners, writing compelling copy, and coordinating podcasts and blog content.

• Help maintain and update our WordPress website and landing pages, ensuring content is up to date, accessible, and optimised for SEO and user experience.
• Support the setup and delivery of email marketing campaigns, including building emails, managing lists, and reviewing performance.
• Contribute to ongoing audience and campaign research, including SEO keyword research, to inform marketing strategies and content planning.

Under the supervision of the European Regional Director, the Director of External Partnerships will oversee IFAW’s strategic partnerships development geared towards advancing IFAW’s efforts to protect and save the lives of animals.

He/she will strengthen IFAW’s profile in the United Kingdom by:

o Representing IFAW in UK, in particular to corporations, institutional donors, private foundations, and other relevant stakeholders, with the aim of increasing IFAW’s visibility and generating revenue;

o Leading the development, implementation, and partnerships management, as well as external advocacy and influence;

o Carrying out outreach and community engagement to drive positive change.

Role and Responsibilities

1. Partnerships strategy elaboration

· Design and update a comprehensive partnership strategy with external stakeholders in the UK market. In order to support IFAW’s mission and strategies, this Partnership Strategy shall cover the following types of partnership:

o Polical and institutional (public sector, national and decentralized authorities);

o Financial (private sector and institutional donors);

o Technical, programmatic and academic (non-governmental community, universities, research institutes).

· Work closely with cross-functional teams to align Partnership Strategy in the UK and beyond

2. Strategy implementation and partnerships development

· Build, foster and maintain strong relationships with target stakeholders (external audiences, leaders, institutional partners, community organizations, funders, etc.) to

o Enhance effectiveness and reach

o Advance and drive collaborative solutions

· Influence UK key political decision-making processes

· Represent IFAW on priority issues in external meetings, conferences, public events, and media interviews and act as spokesperson.

· Play a key role in advancing IFAW commitment to impact investing. This involves:

o Identifying investment opportunities that generate financial returns and create social/environmental benefits.

3. IFAW UK Representation

· Serve as IFAW’s UK Representative corporations, institutional donors, private foundations, and other relevant stakeholders

· Serve as authorized signatory, when appropriate

Qualifications and Education Requirements

· Minimum of five years of experience in the development of strategic partnerships and institutional funding, NGO management, high-level advocacy or a related field in the UK and beyond.

· Strong leadership and team management skills.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Agility and strategic vision

· Demonstrated expertise in the nonprofit landscape.

· General understanding of environmental and climate issues. Knowledge of conservation and animal welfare is an asset but not essential.

· Ability to analyze data and use it to inform decision-making.

About the role

Reporting in to the Strategy & Performance Lead, the Business Planning & Performance Specialist will co-lead the corporate planning and reporting cycle, cascading the global strategy into annual corporate plans and OKRs, while fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

This is a unique and varied role which would appeal to someone with a background in areas such as stakeholder management, policy, public affairs, communications, programme management – or a combination of these areas! You will operate at the heart of social housing by working with key decision makers across the housing association sector – including managing relationships with chief executives, chairs of boards and executive directors. Join us as an Activities Supervisor, where you’ll lead and inspire a team of Wellbeing Assistants to deliver engaging, person-centred activities that promote independence, choice, and dignity for our residents. You’ll also help ensure the smooth running of key services such as maintenance, catering, housekeeping, and communication systems.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week across 5 shifts (7.5 hours each), including weekends on a rota basis.

Key responsibilities include:

- Develop, mentor, and supervise the Wellbeing Assistants and volunteers, serving as a role model and ensuring staff are supported and skilled to perform well.
- Create a stimulating and diverse programme of leisure, recreational, and therapeutic activities, both in-house and externally.
- Work with residents to understand their needs and develop, deliver, and regularly review individual social care plans.
- Plan and produce accurate duty rosters to ensure a comprehensive service, covering shifts that include evenings and weekends.
- Address staff absences and poor performance, undertake investigations, and support the team to properly record assessment, monitoring, and evaluation data for all activities.
- Produce a weekly activity programme and ensure it is promptly advertised and clearly displayed within the home.
- Liaise with external tutors and entertainers, ensuring all necessary qualifications, insurance, and compliance records are maintained.
- Conduct risk assessments for premises and outreach venues to maintain a safe environment for all wellbeing activities.

What we re looking for:

- Level 3 Supporting Activity Provision in Social Care (or willingness to work towards)
- Level 3 Team Leader/Supervisory Award or equivalent (or willing to work towards).
- Experience of working in a Day Centre with older people and/or dementia or similar environment.
- Understanding of running hobby, interest groups and health and wellbeing services
