The Operations and Administration Manager is essential to Kalayaan’s team and to our ability to transform the lives of our clients. The role offers and opportunity to use and build skills across a range of areas with a high degree of responsibility, working with a talented and committed team. 

We have seven staff, three freelance or contract staff and 12 volunteers; four of our staff work full-time.  We are looking for a capable, positive and motivated problem solver with the experience to manage a broad range of tasks and responsibilities.

This is an exciting time to join Kalayaan in an operational and administrative role, with a range of operational change projects underway, a new database being rolled out, office redecoration about to start, and a new website ready for launch in July.

Young People Support Worker

As a Young People Support Worker (Whitley Bay), you will provide practical, emotional, and goal-focused support to young people, helping them develop the skills, confidence, and resilience needed to move towards independent living.

You will manage a caseload of young people with a range of support needs, building trusted relationships and delivering structured, person-centred support plans. The role involves supporting young people through key transitions, including leaving care, sustaining accommodation, and accessing education, training, or employment.

Your work will be underpinned by the Depaul Endeavour Model, an assets-based and psychologically informed approach, ensuring young people are supported to build on their strengths and achieve positive outcomes.

Thousands of young people were sleeping rough every night, with many areas notoriously dubbed “cardboard cities” due to the visible rise in street homelessness. About you

We are seeking a Roaming International Finance Manager to provide short- to medium-term finance cover and additional capacity across a global programme portfolio. This is a hands-on international finance role, supporting Programme Managers and country teams to manage financial risk, strengthen financial controls, and ensure effective delivery of standard financial operating procedures.

The role may also include the induction, training and capacity-building of new International Finance Managers and local finance teams.

The successful candidate will work across a range of country programmes, often in challenging or developing-country contexts, providing support on budgeting, donor reporting, financial planning, monthly close processes, cash management, statutory compliance, audit preparation and partner contract oversight. They will play a key role in ensuring financial systems, reporting and controls are robust, compliant and aligned with operational needs.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Supporting country financial planning, forecasting and grant/contract budgeting.
• Monitoring grant and contract spend, including cost-to-completion and spend-out plans.
• Identifying and managing programme financial risks.

About you

You will be a qualified accountant, or able to demonstrate equivalent experience, with at least five years’ financial management experience, including two years overseas. You will bring strong financial planning, reporting, donor compliance and risk-management skills, together with the flexibility and resilience required to work in varied international contexts. Experience managing and developing small teams is essential.

This role would suit a practical, adaptable and culturally sensitive finance professional who is comfortable working both strategically and operationally, including in environments where living and working conditions may be basic.

Sounds great, what will I be doing?

As a Night Support Worker, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for our service users. You will provide immediate support to individuals experiencing crisis situations, ensuring they receive appropriate assistance and access to emergency services where required. Working calmly and professionally, you will respond to out-of-hours enquiries, offer first-contact advice, and treat all service users with dignity, respect, and compassion, even in challenging circumstances.

You will be responsible for maintaining the safety, security, and smooth running of the building during night shifts, including carrying out regular health and safety checks, monitoring CCTV and alarm systems, conducting building patrols, and responding appropriately to emergencies such as fire alarms or other incidents. You'll have a good understanding of what makes a compelling news story, experience creating impactful content, and the ability to turn complex information into clear and engaging communications. • Coordinate the development and monitoring of project metrics, ensuring variance and performance are reported to relevant stakeholders.
• Regularly report on project progress and performance, and conduct retrospectives to improve future processes.
• Help refine and evolve the project management methodology within the organisation, mentoring colleagues and promoting best practices in digital project delivery.
• Contribute to quarterly programme planning and alignment across projects.
• Examples of projects you could work on include our welfare campaign in relation to the government’s plans around PIP (Personal Independence Payment), Search engine optimisation initiative or annual winter fundraising appeal.

Senior Programme Fundraising Manager

Reporting to the Deputy Director of Fundraising, the Senior Programme Fundraising Manager will play a central role in strengthening programme fundraising capacity across country teams and the global fundraising function. With a particular focus on institutional fundraising, you'll provide technical leadership to support country directors and in-country fundraising colleagues to build high-quality donor engagement, develop and progress funding opportunities, and manage donor compliance across the full funding cycle. You'll line manage country-based fundraising roles (currently across Moldova, Kenya and Ukraine), helping to build strong pipelines, shape fundable propositions, coordinate high-quality proposal development, and ensure excellent stewardship, reporting and internal alignment across systems and sign-off processes.

The successful candidate will bring strong experience in institutional and/or programme funding, with a demonstrable track record of developing compelling proposals and managing funder requirements and compliance. You'll be confident advising and influencing senior stakeholders, providing donor intelligence and engagement support (including with UNICEF offices, bilateral donors, UN agencies and EU actors), and translating complex programme work into clear, credible and fundable narratives. You'll also have the leadership and coaching skills to line manage and develop colleagues across geographies, and the judgement to identify and escalate risks while strengthening tools, processes and ways of working. Occasional international travel will be required.

The Financial Planning and Analysis Manager leads the Hall's financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and management reporting functions. Working closely with senior leaders across the organisation, you'll turn financial data into meaningful insight, helping shape strategic decisions and supporting the Hall's long-term success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the production of timely, accurate and insightful monthly management accounts and performance reporting.
• Deliver high-quality financial analysis and scenario modelling to support strategic planning and organisational decision-making.
• Lead the organisation's annual budgeting process and three year business plan, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and challenging assumptions where appropriate.
• Develop sophisticated financial models supporting business planning, investment appraisal, pricing decisions and long-term financial sustainability.
• Lead, motivate and develop the Financial Planning and Reporting team, creating a high-performing, collaborative and customer-focused culture.
• Lead the continual development of financial systems, reporting tools and data quality.
• Lead the development of management dashboards and KPI reporting across the organisation.

Key Skills & Qualifications

• You'll be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with a track record of turning financial data into strategic insight.
• Equally comfortable partnering with senior leaders as leading a talented finance team, you'll bring expertise in budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and performance reporting, alongside excellent communication skills and a drive to improve systems, processes and decision-making.
• Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills
• Experience of Power BI and ERP systems would be welcomed but is not essential.
• Experience in the arts/charity sector, or the entertainment/hospitality world would be beneficial
