About the role:

We looking to appoint a Family Support Worker to deliver a high-quality family support service as part of our North East Care Team.

Reporting to the Family Support Manager out of our North East Care team base and working in partnership with health, education and social care professionals, you will take responsibility for providing needs-led emotional, social and practical support to families where a child/young person has a life threatening or terminal illness.

Having worked in a stressful and emotional environment you have a genuine interest in building supportive relationships and helping people; and having provided bereavement support to families, you understand the processes of grief, loss and change - and how best to help others deal with its impact

What we’re looking for:

· An experienced child health, education or social care professional - applications will be particularly welcome from those who have worked in a community environment and those with a recognised qualification in education, health or social care

· A warm, inclusive approach to achieving goals quickly and correctly

· Practiced in child protection, information sharing and the rules around data protection - you lead by example, drawing on your own professional experience and working within established guidelines

· Practical and people-oriented - you will thrive working at a fast pace whilst maintaining accuracy and be a confident user of IT (including MSOffice)

· A persuasive and open communicator - you will work collaboratively with your team and volunteers to ensure delivery of a high-quality service and support fundraising colleagues by writing case studies and family updates

· A practical knowledge of diversity issues affecting children, young people and their families – aware that being responsive to others needs and concerns, is essential.

AAUK are seeking a dedicated  Supporter Communications Mailing Officer to support  The Child Sponsorship Communication Programme team's operations. 

This team is responsible for the safeguarding, checking and despatching of over 100,000 child messages, transfer packs and photo updates annually to supporters.  The team will be in receipt of physical child drawings, letters and photos from ActionAid’s operating countries, quality checking for authenticity and importantly, identifying and reporting any child safeguarding issues. The team is responsible for the final matching and despatching of the communications to supporters within the agreed communication timeframe. The team are also involved in the safeguarding and logging of correspondence from child sponsors back to the children who are sponsored. 

Due to the nature of this role, the successful candidate will be asked to participate in criminal records checks at the point of offer.

About the National Suicide Prevention Alliance (NSPA)                       

The NSPA network has grown significantly since 2020. The number of organisations working with us has almost doubled and individual membership has increased four-fold. Whilst those running suicide prevention programmes are a significant proportion of our membership, a growing number are those whose core business is not suicide prevention but who recognise the need to take action and are seeking support to do so. 

There are more organisations than ever working to prevent suicide and it can be difficult to navigate the wealth of information available and connect with organisations that may be undertaking similar/ relevant work. Some may be unaware of or find it difficult to access evidence around what works, what is already happening and what can be built upon.

Make a real difference in the lives of those affected by suicide, all whilst working in a supportive and inclusive environment. As our NSPA Content & Engagement Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in leading our efforts to drive meaningful change to help prevent suicide.

Your Role

You’ll lead the development and delivery of a suicide prevention community engagement strategy and plan, including an online hub and ambassador initiative to support capacity building in suicide prevention across England. You will: 

• Develop a more strategic approach to our engagement with members 

• Support the next step in the development of our network by building an online community hub, to support on-going knowledge-sharing, community connection and depth of engagement with our wide range of members. 

• Have the opportunity to build and manage relationships with NSPA members, people with lived experience and other key stakeholders.

• Manage the NSPA’s communications, working closely with the Membership & Communications Officers with strategic input from the Executive Lead.

The Role

The Community Support Worker will be required to work alongside the full-time area Co-ordinators to support activities and groups and carry out one-to-one initial appointments for people residing in Surrey.

This will involve attending some groups in venues across the Surrey Downs area, to assist in the facilitation of groups to ensure they run safely and meet the needs of the clients.

The role will also involve supporting the full-time co-ordinators to complete initial appointments with new clients, including the completion of recovery stars and plans and updating client records.

You will have experience of working directly with vulnerable adults (preferably with mental ill-health)

• Experience of working within the health & social care sector.

The charity is a mental health and emotional wellbeing charity, supporting Surrey residents since 1994 in Banstead, Elmbridge, Epsom & Ewell and Mole Valley.

In this busy and exciting supporter-facing role, you’ll provide stewardship to our brilliant fundraisers organising events from bake sales and balls to tractor runs and sponsored walks. We're looking for an inspirational person to join us as an Assistant Manager and work in some of our shops in West Scotland, providing cover in busy periods or for staff absences. About the role

You will assist the Shop Manager in the recruitment, support and development of a strong community focused shop team and empower them to maximise Shelter's income. Representing Shelter in your local community, ensuring that you and your team share your knowledge of Shelter's cause with customers, volunteers, donors and potential Shelter clients will also be important aspects of the role. You will always ensure a safe, clean, bright and happy environment for your team to work in and for your customers to shop in, in turn attracting potential donors and volunteers.

Role:                 Fundraising Database Manager

Location:            The Haberdashers' Schools, Elstree, Hertfordshire but with hybrid work

This is an exciting time for Haberdashers’ Girls’ School and Haberdashers’ Boys’ School. While they remain largely autonomous institutions with their own cultures and traditions, they are undertaking ambitious joint fundraising and alumni relations activities for the first time in their histories. This effort is led by a small but dynamic development & alumni relations team working across both schools.

Overview

The Fundraising Database Manager plays a key role within the team, with overall responsibility for the administration and oversight of the Raiser's Edge donor/alumni database, gift processing and alumni networking platforms across both schools. Responsibilities include maintaining the integrity of the data and ensuring it is up to date, optimising the database for fundraising appeals, generating reports and queries, providing professional support and training to users, processing all gifts and claiming Gift Aid. The database manager is also responsible for ensuring the department complies with all relevant data protection regulations

You are a motivated and highly organised self-starter, with a knack for methodical problem-solving, enthusiasm for the potential of data to drive effective fundraising and alumni relations, and a meticulous attention to detail. Beyond optimising and managing the database, you will also take the lead in implementing new financial and operational procedures which will make our fundraising and alumni relations work more efficient and effective, and which will be easy for less tech-minded team members to adopt and sustain.

You are comfortable extracting, interrogating and reporting on data to help inform strategy, always looking for ways to use and improve your skills and experience to make an impact. You will have a sophisticated understanding of how to export, import and (where warranted) merge multiple datasets. Finally, you never forget that behind the data are real people, and that ensuring the integrity, accuracy and protection of their data is vitally important, both for them and for the schools.

Location: Borehamwood, 15 miles northwest of central London. A flexible work schedule, including a mix of remote and on-site working, will be possible for the right candidate.

We are seeking a Research Assistant to support the research activities of the Patient Evidence Department of Myeloma Patients Europe (MPE).

Main Duties and responsibilities

Perform the following duties in conjunction with and under the guidance of the Head of Patient Research:

• Plan and conduct assigned research individually or jointly in accordance with project deliverables and department strategy
• Document research output including analysis and interpretation of data, maintaining records and databases, drafting progress reports and publications
• Maintain accurate records of patient data, safeguarding the confidentiality of patients and patient data, as necessary
• Writing for internal / external audiences (including academic journals, lay summaries, and, progress reports)
• Contribute to the dissemination of work including presentations at international and national conferences, internal and external meetings and workshops
• Contribute to the development of proposals to secure funding to support future research
•  Engage with patients, families, clinicians, patient organisations and other stakeholders involved in MPE patient evidence projects and other myeloma research
• Represent  MPE at internal / external meetings

Other responsibilities

• Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the Head of Patient evidence
• Support the wider MPE team with research and evidence requests
• Critically appraise and provide advice to MPE wider team on academic research findings
• Build good relations with members, internal and external stakeholders (including doctors, researchers and medical representatives within companies)
• Respond to external patient organisations’ requests on research and evidence topics
• Attend scientific congresses and meetings
• Develop content for MPE website and social media and other communications
•  Participate in advisory boards for the pharmaceutical industry
• Engage with training and continuing professional development

About you:

• A good undergraduate degree in a relevant subject area and either postgraduate qualification or equivalent research experience
• Knowledge and experience of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
• Understanding of principles of Good Clinical Practice in research
• Knowledge and experience of ethical review procedures (desirable)
• Ability to work from home in a virtual setting with a team spread across Europe
• Experience in a related field desirable – preferably working in a non-profit organisation, academic / clinical research, or medical/scientific setting
• Experience in working with patients, researchers, doctors and representatives from the pharmaceutical industry desirable
• Organised, with excellent project management and time management skills
• Strong listening and communication skills
• A motivated and self-aware team player, who can work independently or collaboratively with equal success
• Demonstrated excellence in writing, proofreading, and editing in English
• Good analytical, numerical abilities and ability to interpret complex information
• Ability to explain complex scientific terms and knowledge into lay language
• Willingness to attend face-to-face departmental meetings in Edinburgh on a quarterly basis

About MPE

Myeloma Patients Europe (MPE) is a pan-European organisation representing 52 myeloma and amyloidosis patient groups from over 33 European countries. It is registered as an international non-profit organisation under Belgian Law. A Board mainly composed of patients and caregivers is elected by the membership to oversee the strategy and governance of the organisation. A team of 13 staff members runs remotely the day-to-day operations, programmes and services within 4 divisions: Access and Policy, Medical Education and Scientific Engagement, Patient Evidence and Member and Patient Community Programmes.

MPE is dedicated to improving the treatment, care and quality of life of patients with myeloma and AL Amyloidosis. To this end, the main goals of the organisation are:

• Collaborating on projects to the benefit of the myeloma community
• Exchanging information and best practice
• Developing existing patient groups and encouraging and facilitating the setting up of new groups
• Helping to shape appropriate health-related policies and initiatives on a European and national level
• Ensuring patients across Europe receive timely access to new treatment
• Stimulating and promoting patient-centred research and clinical trials
• Developing a strong evidence base for the needs and wants of patients and their role in research

About the Patient Evidence department

The MPE Patient Evidence department was established in 2020 to generate evidence important to patients with myeloma and their families and is led by Dr Eilidh Duncan. Our goal is to understand unmet needs in the patient population and design patient-focussed research questions which will support new understandings and knowledge. MPE partners with academia, other patient organisations, industry and regulatory bodies where possible to understand more about what gaps exist within the myeloma landscape and how to best generate evidence on these. We work alongside MPE’s policy and access team to anticipate what questions need to be asked and what the data needs are for upcoming medicines approval processes.
