Prospect Hospice is a charity, funded primarily by our local community. Each year it costs several 
million pounds to provide the care that our patients and their families depend on. Only a quarter of 
our funding comes from statutory organisations like the NHS – the rest we raise ourselves. The 
Fundraising team plays a vital role in raising awareness of the hospice locally and generating crucial 
funds so we can meet the growing needs of our community. 

The Community & Events Fundraising team of 5 is responsible for building relationships with and 
maximising income generation through a wide range of community audiences including volunteers, 
individual fundraisers, challenge event participants, local businesses and organisations. 
 
Main purpose and scope 

The Hospice is dependent on voluntary fundraising for the majority of its income. The Community & 
Events Fundraising team is a key contributor to this income stream.
The Community Fundraiser will play a pivotal role in helping to secure the future of the Hospice by 
cultivating relationships with the local community, raising awareness and generating vital income. 
While flexibility is paramount, this role’s particular focus will be on nurturing relationships with our 
community fundraisers and corporate partners. It will also contribute to the ongoing review and 
development of Prospect Hospice’s calendar of fundraising events and activities, including the 
selection of externally organised challenges, as well as supporter stewardship journeys.

The Community Fundraiser will work with a wide range of people, ensuring a positive supporter 
experience through effective relationship building, communications and operational support. 

The Community Fundraiser will continually look to raise the profile of the Hospice, championing all 
aspects of the charity’s work.

The role has a requirement to work occasional evenings and weekends in order to support events.
Key Accountabilities and areas of responsibility 
• Develop and nurture relationships with individuals, supporter groups, in-aid fundraisers, clubs 
and associations, and local businesses, bringing a friendly, high-energy, can-do approach that 
makes it fun to engage, through regular phone, email and face-to-face contact, 
communications updates, event attendance and cheque presentations.
• To empower community supporters to achieve their fundraising goals and make a lasting 
difference in their communities by providing guidance, support and inspiration.
• To support, motivate and inspire network of Volunteer Ambassadors to represent Prospect 
Hospice in the community. 
• To represent Prospect Hospice as an ambassador at various community events, presentations, 
and appointments, sharing your extensive knowledge about hospice services with confidence, 
fostering emotional connections and building lasting relationships with supporters.
• To collaborate with the Head of Relationship Fundraising to develop and manage a 
comprehensive calendar of community fundraising activities, ensuring alignment with annual
budget targets.
• To collaborate with the Head of Relationship Fundraising to develop and manage supporter 
stewardship journeys for voluntary fundraisers and challenge event participants.
• Own the planning, budgeting and delivery of key challenge events (London Landmarks, 
Swindon Half, Cycle Challenge, Bath Half and others), managing income lines and controlling 
event costs (e.g., supplier fees, marketing, production/branding, materials and contingency) to 
ensure value for money and achieve net-income targets.
• Lead the annual Christmas Tree Collection, securing corporate sponsorship and delivering a 
strong participant experience, while coordinating volunteers and logistics. Own the event 
budget, covering items such as volunteer hospitality, printing/publicity and digital marketing, 
and be accountable for achieving the Christmas Tree Collection net-income target.
• To ensure fundraising initiatives achieve agreed budgeted income & expenditure targets. 
• To ensure the reputation of the Hospice is a key consideration in all fundraising activities. To 
ensure the identification of risk, both physical and financial, relating to fundraising activities.
• To liaise with the communications team regarding the publicising of community fundraising 
activities and events including creating detailed marketing plans for each event or activity to 
achieve maximum exposure.
• To support fundraising events and activities outside normal working hours, weekends and bank 
holidays when required. 
• To keep accurate records of fundraising activities and analyse information and statistics to 
accurately target future fundraising activities. 
• To maintain a complete, accurate and up-to-date pipeline of fundraising opportunities and 
provide monthly commentary to support financial forecasting and prioritisation. 
• To always ensure efficient use of resources and to enable further growth in activity and income 
to achieve departmental targets. 
• Provide flexible support to other members of the Relationship Fundraising team as required, 
particularly in the lead-up to Prospect Hospice’s flagship challenge events throughout the year.
• To work within the legal framework and good practice guidelines for fundraising activity.
• To comply with requirements of the Data Protection Act.

The Youth Participation & Events Support (Internhsip) role is a twelve-month paid Internship to begin during March 2026, supported by the Jack Petchey Foundation, to support the planning and delivery of SLRA’s youth participation programme, regular activities and youth-led events.

This development programme will involve attending a launch conference, four professional development workshops throughout the year and a celebration event at the end of the programme. How are staff supported to work remotely?

VoiceAbility has a small number of offices. Employees including Team Leaders are homebased for Administration and meetings will be held online as well as in person in the relevant community.

Working arrangements:  This role will work shifts starting at 10:25pm and finishing at 7:40am. Shifts will be on a rota bases across a 7-day working week.

Hours:

The job is for 14 hours a week, usually worked over 2 days (ideally Friday and one other weekday)

Role Summary:

Whilst Futures For All has been fundraising for all of our 15 year history, we are now at a point in which increasing voluntary income and diversifying our charitable income streams is vital to the charity’s long-term success.  The new role of Director of Fundraising took up management of the team in 2024, and is now in the process of building a bigger and brighter team to support increasing income over the next few years.

The Senior Fundraising Manager – Trust and Philanthropy will play a pivotal role in raising funds from grantmaking trusts and HNWIs (philanthropists) towards the work of Futures For All.  They will go beyond simply writing applications and reports, to build relationships with prospects and donors, ensuring that each are guided through the solicitation cycle towards maximising their grant to the charity.  They will work closely with colleagues, volunteers and leadership to ensure each prospect/donor is engaged appropriately and accurate information is provided in a timely manner.  They will also support the overall function of the Fundraising team, supporting other forms of fundraising. They will build relationships with prospects and donors, ensuring that each are guided through the solicitation cycle towards making major donations.

For this to be successful, we need to grow and diversify our income, particularly from grants and gifts, and are growing the fundraising team from 3.5 to 5+ members to support this increase.

Your role as Senior Fundraising Manager will be to help identify, cultivate, ask and steward philanthropists and grantmaking trusts, working with the Director of Fundraising, Fundraising team, wider colleagues and volunteers to ensure they are solicited to the highest possible standards. The team will support you and there’ll be training on offer to help you succeed.

Key Duties / Responsibilities

Strategic Purpose

• Fundraising from grantmaking trusts and foundations – build and maintain a pipeline of trust prospects and donors with potential to give £10k+ per annum.
• Fundraising from major donor individuals – building relationships with prospects and donors leading to gifts of £5k or more.
• Collaboration – working with colleagues, Ambassadors and Trustees to engage potential supporters, attend events and solicit donations.
• Proposals and reports – develop and deliver accurate and inspiring fundraising applications and reports meeting and surpassing donor and prospect expectations.

Engagement

• Stewardship – work closely with the Donor Relations Manager to ensure all trust donors are stewarded effectively.
• Collaborate with staff, volunteers and leadership – ensuring you have an expert knowledge of the work of Speakers for Schools and can communicate it passionately and accurately to prospects and donors.

Delivery

• Events – utilise and support fundraising events to create a culture of giving and fundraising within Futures For All. Working alongside the Events Co-ordinator to identify attendees and shape engagement events.
• Data and reporting – ensure information on donors is correctly recorded in Salesforce, and supporting KPI and other reports created by the Director of Fundraising.
• Other duties – supporting the work of the Fundraising team and wider organisation as required.

Education / Experience / Knowledge

Essential

Experience of making the direct asks for funds from prospective donors.

Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to cultivate and steward philanthropic relationships effectively.

Experience of compelling proposal and report writing for a grantmaking and philanthropy audience.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Enthusiastic and a self-motivated team player.

Desirable

Proven ability to raise income from grantmaking trusts, manage a portfolio of established and new trust donors, achieve targets as part of a fundraising business plan.

Experience working in a social mobility or education-focused charity.

Proven ability to engage philanthropists and senior volunteers and speakers who support these approaches.

About the Role
As the lead for this specialist area, you will:

• Drive the design and delivery of innovative interventions for children, young people and families affected by substance misuse.
• Develop group programmes, resources, and training to strengthen whole-family approaches.
• Build strong partnerships with key stakeholder such as adult substance misuse services, schools, children’s services, and health professionals to ensure seamless referral pathways.
• Develop and deliver training and consultation to external partners and stakeholders on the issues facing young people affected by substance misuse of others. 
• Champion safeguarding and best practice across the service.
• Hold a caseload of complex and high-risk cases involving children, young people, and families, delivering whole-family support, including parenting programmes and harm reduction strategies.
• Monitor and evaluate service impact, ensuring continuous improvement.

About You
We’re looking for someone who is:

• Experienced in working with families facing multiple risk factors, including parental substance misuse.
• Skilled in delivering 1:1 and group interventions and developing new programmes.
• Knowledgeable about safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Qualified to Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent).
• A strong communicator and collaborator, able to influence and lead within multi-agency settings.
• You will need to work flexibly countywide across Buckinghamshire so must hold a full UK driving license and have access to a car.

We are seeking an experienced Counsellor to deliver high-quality clinical assessments as part of our therapeutic services. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled therapeutic practitioner to focus on assessment work, contributing to safeguarding, clinical decision-making, and effective service delivery within a trauma-informed framework.
