Trainee Project Worker roles are based in supported accommodation services, where we aim to prepare clients for independence and positively impact their quality of life. These services provide temporary and longer-term accommodation for people who may have associated difficulties relating to mental health, complex support needs and trauma. In this role, you will be working on a shift rota, which will include working early shifts: 8am - 3:30pm/4pm and /or late shifts: 3:30pm - 10:30pm and could include some weekends and bank holidays.
We may also have Trainee Floating Support Worker roles, working to support a caseload of people who are at greater risk of homelessness with a focus on addressing housing-related issues, improving quality of life and promoting independence. Your support will include help with benefits issues, mental and physical ill health, hoarding and antisocial behaviours within a recovery framework and structured key working assessment. This work will involve regular travel in London, visiting clients in their own homes or other locations.
As a Trainee, you will be working in a varied and rewarding role amongst a committed and supportive team. The training programme will teach you how to provide this support to clients, enabling them to achieve the objectives they have collaboratively created in their support and action plans. You will also assist clients with routine tasks and their goals relating to training, education, or employment.
As a Trainee, you will receive increments to your salary at six months and at nine months (subject to successful completion of the Trainee Programme).
About you:
You do not need to have previous or formal experience working in the homelessness sector or in a support role. We are seeking people with transferable skills and experience gained from a varied background, who will demonstrate a commitment and passion for the work that we do. You will be ready to learn on the job and we will support you to develop your own learning and practice through a structured programme and teamwork.

In return, we will provide you with a comprehensive and engaging Trainee Programme. - In collaboration with the editorial team, monitor progress on manuscripts in the submission system to identify and help resolve potential bottlenecks in peer review
- Assist in managing the journal inboxes, dealing with straightforward manuscript-related messages from authors, reviewers and external editors
- Ensure that accurate records are maintained in the submission system on the processing of all manuscripts
- Carry out post-acceptance checks on manuscripts and liaise with production team when requested, particularly during periods of annual leave for editorial office colleagues
- Assist in regular performance statistics reporting across the journal portfolio
- The post holder will also have some opportunity to learn about other aspects of editorial office management, including journal development and marketing and support promotion of articles via social media accounts and press releases

The General Counsel's Division (‘GCD') is a department led by the General Counsel and Company Secretary, and is made up of the Legal and Compliance, Company Secretariat, Safeguarding and Risk teams.
In your Coordinator role you will use your drive, initiative, strong organisational and excellent communication skills, playing an integral role in bringing the GCD together to align and deliver on departmental priorities. - Booking rooms for ARC meetings; coordinate logistics and supplies.
- Attending ARC meetings and recording accurate and concise minutes, capturing key points, actioning items, and decisions made during meetings, distributing minutes after meetings.
- Provide support with the administration of SCUK's related entities' board meetings, including scheduling meetings, booking meeting rooms, preparing board packs, distributing papers and taking minutes of meetings, as requested.
Act as the organisation's policies governance coordinator which will include:
- Managing the process for the review, development and approval of SCUK's policies in view of SCUK's overarching governance framework.
- Keeping the Policies Directory on the intranet up to date.
- Supporting policy authors as they navigate SCUK's policies governance process and devise simple initiatives to raise organisational awareness of its existence and purpose.

The Helen Bamber Foundation (HBF) is a pioneering Human Rights charity supporting refugees and asylum seekers who are the survivors of trafficking and torture, including gender-based and ‘honour-based’ violence. Recognising the complexity of each client’s suffering and needs, the Foundation provides specialist medical consultation, therapeutic care, legal protection and practical support to survivors of human rights violations by helping men, women and children heal the emotional and physical damage they have suffered through torture, trafficking or other forms of cruelty. We take the learning from our work to develop partnerships to increase survivors’ access to services, and use the learning generated by our clients and partners to drive system change.
Since August 2020, Asylum Aid has been part of the Helen Bamber Foundation Group. Asylum Aid operates as an independent charity, led by its own Executive Director within the group structure, and is ambitious about growing its impact and reach in the future to ensure protection from persecution for those who need it. For over thirty years, Asylum Aid has been providing legal representation to some of the most vulnerable people seeking asylum. It has built an expert service, delivering vital and life-saving services in some of the most complex legal cases, with a particular speciality working with unaccompanied children, survivors of trafficking, torture or other forms of human cruelty, and stateless people. OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE
The Head of People is a new role for the organsiation and you will be joining us at an exciting time, as we are moving into new offices and seek to drive forward our new 2025-2030 strategy. The Grants Officer will be a member of the Biomedical Grants and Policy Department. You will work with a Grants Manager to administer a portion of the Academy’s portfolio of grants schemes and activities.
You will act as a key point of contact for external liaison relating to the schemes. Working with the other Grants Officers and the rest of the Team, you will also help to develop and deliver events for Academy grant holders, as well as contribute to the Academy’s wider portfolio of work, and the delivery of our new strategy.

- Administer a portion of the Academy’s portfolio of grant schemes
- Processing applications, determining eligibility, and coordinating peer review of eligible applications.
- Convening and supporting the awarding panel, including preparation of committee papers, reports and financial information, as well as preparing feedback to applicants.
- Managing the new grants once awarded, along with the Academy’s existing portfolio of grants.
- Supporting the monitoring of awards and evaluation of grants schemes.
- Analysing data and preparing papers, presentations and reports to demonstrate the impact of our schemes for internal and external use.

- Researching and reporting on initiatives being undertaken by other UK funders.

Background:
Central London Samaritans (CLS) is the largest of Samaritans’ 201 branches.
Based in the heart of Soho (*), 450 volunteers deliver the Samaritans service round the clock, every day of the year providing support for anyone struggling to cope. Our core objective is to deliver services that support the Samaritans vision that fewer people will die by suicide. Assisted by a small staff team, volunteers manage over 100,000 contacts a year of which, pre-pandemic, 4,500 were face to face visits.
As well as delivering services in our Marshall Street centre, we also work in the community across seven London boroughs. From providing emotional support for London’s homeless, to running peer-to-peer listener programmes at Brixton prison, and delivering talks and workshops to schools and workplaces, we pride ourselves on the support we give to our community. Our volunteers also offer emotional support following any form of crisis affecting Londoners, such as the London Bridge attacks and the Grenfell Tower fire.
Role description:
Responsible for ensuring the delivery of the community events fundraising plans and activities. You will be managing a select number of events, along with engaging with the community and businesses to develop and implement plans for maximising income and support from individuals, groups and businesses.

Hours of work and Location:
The basic hours are 28 hours per week spread over four working days. Within these hours there may be need to work some evenings and weekend days depending on when events happen, so flexibility is essential. The core responsibilities should be carried out during weekdays.

Our client, a leading London university is currently looking to recruit a temporary full time CAS / Visa Compliance Officer to provide effective administrative support to the team. Working closely with the Immigration Advisory Service to facilitate confirmation of acceptance for studies (CAS), you will join a busy team ensuring that the University complies fully with regulations. This post is looking to start in the first week of July and will run for approximately 2 months in the first instance. Facing the Future is a Samaritans service offering peer support groups to people bereaved by suicide. Since transferring the groups online in February 2021, we have supported over 800 people who have experienced loss by suicide. The successful candidate will play a lead role in identifying areas where there is a need/opportunity for targeted interventions to support the experiences of students from disadvantaged backgrounds, before putting then translating these into evidence-based proposals.
The Access & Participation Project Coordinator will be responsible for designing, implementing and delivering these programmes, as well as for reporting back on them and proactively seeking ways of driving continuous improvement.
The role will also oversee the delivery of the Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) Mentoring Scheme. This landmark programme, that was last year nominated at the National Diversity Awards, pairs students from ethnic minority backgrounds with LSE alumni, who provide the former with mentoring and support during their studies.
The successful person will be responsible for reviewing the programme and seeking to build upon its fledgling success to ensure it is bigger, better and more impactful than ever.
This role will also involve close working with stakeholders at LSE, especially those working on the delivery of LSE’s Access & Participation Plan (APP).
