Hillside Clubhouse is recruiting for a mental health employment specialist to join our dynamic Camden team supporting people with mental health conditions to gain and retain employment.  The role is working within the nationally recognised IPS (Individual Placement and Support) model within an NHS secondary care mental health team based in the heart of Camden.

Who we are: 

Hillside Clubhouse is a co-produced mental health employment support charity working across Camden and Islington. We support people with mental health conditions into training, volunteering, and employment opportunities. People can access our services via our Clubhouse, where they can share their skills and expertise with others and support the running of the charity.  Alternatively, they can receive support out in the community from one of our employment specialists based within primary and secondary care.

The Role: 

The role is within our IPS Service and will be based within a Camden NHS secondary care team. As an IPS Employment Specialist, you’ll play an important role in supporting people with lived mental health experience on their recovery journey by supporting them back into paid employment. This is an opportunity to offer ongoing support, to motivate and provide people with hope, while developing the tools and skills required to recover, ultimately transforming their lives.

A variety of skills are needed in this post including but not limited to -  a strong ability to develop empathy and rapport with clients; a determined approach to seeking out job opportunities; a person centric-approach to working with people; strong communications skills to motivate clients; strong administrative capabilities and an attention to detail engage with prospective employers via business development and face-to-face meetings, and to be able to challenge some perceptions around mental health. 

The postholder will be directly employed by Hillside Clubhouse but work under an Honorary Contract from Camden and Islington Foundation Trust.  They will be managed directly by the IPS Operations Manager but work as team member within the clinical team. The role is dynamic and involves being integrated in a clinical team, working within the community, and we operate a flexible working policy where working from home is also permitted up to two days per week.

Overall aim: 

To enable people with mental health issues to gain and sustain competitive employment by working within the evidence based Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model.

Primary Duties: 

• Manage a caseload of up to twenty clients and work within and apply the 8 principles of IPS in all aspects of role. 
• To work with and enable clients to find work using a mix of conventional approaches and employer engagement. 
• To generate ongoing referrals from the clinical team and to manage those effectively. 
• To engage directly and collaboratively with the clinical team while maintaining the existing multi-disciplinary approach to assisting clients seeking work. 
• To report and meet regularly with clinical team service managers and the IPS Operations manager, and to participate in both casework and clinical supervision from IPS Operations and clinical team services managers. 
• To be an active member of both the clinical and Hillside teams 
• To be responsible for own management of administrative duties tied to both Hillside Clubhouse and clinical team and adhering to existing Hillside and NHS protocols. 
• Source job opportunities specific to client needs from a range of sources including those advertised via current and conventional means, as well as through contact with local and Pan London employers. 
• To build up a network of employers to secure available and future vacancies. 
• To maintain existing and seek out new relationships with a range of external agencies of use to the post. 
• To provide ongoing support to both client and employers (where appropriate) when starting work and until such time as the client makes the decision to end the support provided.

Based in our Welcome Area, this role is central to our Community Support provision, where the post-holder will be our community's first point of contact, responsible for greeting service users and supporting them with general enquiries and referrals.

We are recruiting a part-time (2 days per week) Carer Support Coordinator to join our supportive team who are committed to making life better for Manchester’s unpaid carers. This post is an ideal opportunity for someone who is passionate about support for carers, enjoys working as part of a team and wants to have real input in developing the service.

We are looking for someone with a good understanding of the needs of unpaid carers and recognises the value of peer support between carers. You might also have experience running groups, providing one-to-one support or information, or supporting volunteers.

Overall responsibility of the job: Working in support of Head of Events (Delivery) and Head of Fundraising, to be TNF Events Manager; coordinating events as part of a small team. The position supports the delivery of a diverse national events programme and some international activities.

Your Role: As an event professional, ideally you will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience gained in an event coordination role and be ready to grow into a role with greater responsibility and autonomy. This is a hands-on event coordination role in a small team. Having a diplomatic and friendly manner with strong verbal and written communication skills, will be essential towards building relationships both internally and externally and while communicating with volunteers and beneficiaries. Event management/coordination skills are a key priority within this position, (especially delegate/beneficiary and event administration), combined with a meticulous, accurate and disciplined approach to work with strong IT and data management skills. About the role 

Demand for support for people experiencing homelessness is changing and we have a vacancy in our front facing Engagement and Assessment service. 

This service provides first line support to people experiencing homelessness, assessing their needs, identifying support, and working with other staff and services to address their homelessness. 

We need someone to join this team as a receptionist to increase our capacity to respond to new and existing members of Crisis. 

As the first point of contact, our Engagement and Assessment service greets individuals who are experiencing homelessness or facing a risk of homelessness. You will be working in a fast paced and often challenging environment, explaining and guiding people through the Crisis service offer, and signposting to other local support services. You will need to create a welcoming and encouraging environment, to ensure that people seeking support feel understood and respected. 

No two days are the same, and you will be greeting people, helping signpost to appropriate services and responding to telephone and email enquires in a positive and supportive way. This is a key role as you will be part of a members journey out of homelessness, right from their first presentation. 

About you 

As a receptionist you have a real opportunity to demonstrate your compassion and empathy for people experiencing homelessness as our first point of contact at Crisis. 

Sometimes visitors are distressed by their situation and this role would suit someone who is both resilient and compassionate. 

You will need to have strong communication skills, be able to listen and respond even when people are demonstrating their distress through their language and behaviour. This is where you will demonstrate confidence in your ability to assertively challenge inappropriate behaviour and de-escalate conflict. 

You will develop professional relationships with our members who regularly attend and become part of their progression out of the most difficult of personal circumstances. Our current team tell us how rewarding and motivating this can be. 

You will need to be able to help manage the reception area, spot potential concerns and safety issues and respond to these to ensure that reception is a safe space for new and existing members, and other colleagues. 

You will have experience of working with vulnerable people, balancing this together with an excellent level of customer service, IT skills and an ability to accurately record sensitive information. 

You will be interested in evolving your skills and playing an active role as we continue to develop our Engagement and Assessment service further.

Our Carer Liaison Workers work within both local NHS Trusts (BRI and Southmead Hospitals), where they make a real difference, supporting adult carers – those who care for others who can’t manage without their help, when the person they care for goes into hospital.

You would provide information, advice and support, enabling carers to navigate their way through the intricacies of the hospital journey, whilst liaising with health and social care professionals to ensure the carers voice is heard and their needs are supported, including during discharge planning.

You would also work with hospital staff to improve their knowledge and experience of supporting carers, through development work and training.

Specific responsibilities

An applicant appointed to the role will be expected to:

• Work effectively with others to develop funding proposals for CSE projects.
• Lead the response to competitive Invitations to Tender, which require a specific and timely response to a client’s brief and the ability to highlight and sell relevant CSE strengths and expertise.

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Programme Officer to support the end-to-end delivery of our sector-leading mentoring programme, ensuring participants join smoothly and are supported throughout. You will also support partners and donors to contribute to the delivery and expansion of the programme. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual with strong customer service skills, written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities.

Using a gender and trauma-informed approach, the Outreach & Engagement Worker will deliver 2-4 daytime outreach sessions per week in Manchester alongside partners, colleagues and volunteers. They will also attend the Street Engagement Hub weekly to provide specialist support to women attending this multi-agency hub. They will provide brief interventions and casework support to women supporting their needs holistically.

You will work with other members of the MASH team to achieve the following outcomes:

• To improve women’s health
• To improve women’s wellbeing
• To increase women’s safety
• To enable women to identify and achieve their goals
• Women who sex work are heard, understood and experience less stigma
• Other agencies and policymakers understand the needs of women who sex work and are more effective at supporting them

Since 1991, MASH has been at the forefront of supporting women in and around Greater Manchester who are, have been or may start sex working and who are facing multiple disadvantage. We were founded as a social justice organisation, starting out as a grassroots, community led response to the HIV/AIDS crisis and we have continued to support women at the sharpest end of inequalities ever since.

Whilst the nature of sex work, the context in which we operate and the support we provide has changed dramatically over the last thirty years, one thing has remained constant: MASH continues to be a haven for some of the most marginalised women in Greater Manchester –  women who fall through the gaps, are under served by mainstream services and face stigma, discrimination and multiple barriers to accessing the support they need. At MASH, we meet each woman where they are at and stay with them for as long as it takes for them to get to where they want to be. Crucially, our support is gender and trauma informed and responsive and we bring decades of experience of appropriately supporting women in ways which work for them.

Mid Kent Mind work in the community to promote social inclusion for people who experience mental health problems. We strive to tackle stigma and discrimination through projects that promote a better understanding of mental health. About the role

Mid Kent Mind runs a wide range of services, including but not limited to, mental health training, wellbeing courses, one-to-one sessions, and social groups. You will be working with both adult and youths in services which focus on nurturing the mental health and wellbeing of our service users in a safe and supportive environment.

You will be instrumental in facilitating a wide range of support across Maidstone, Ashford and Swale. You will lead on our structured mental health courses, and community groups whilst also having the opportunity to shape your individual approach to support the needs of our service users.
