Why Access Social Care Exists

Everyday millions of older and disabled people are denied the social care they need. Most local authorities can’t meet the growing demand for care, none are confident they can meet their legal duties in the future. This affects all of us, we will all need social care at some point.

We all have a right to hold public bodies to account. But most of us cannot afford lawyers so rely on legal aid. The 77% drop in community care legal aid cases since 2010 means we have nowhere to turn. Without access to justice, our rights do not exist. The rule of law is broken.

What we do

Access Social Care provides free legal advice and information for people with social care needs, helping achieve a better quality of life. We work with communities to increase knowledge of the law and our rights. We highlight the gap left by cuts to Legal Aid and provide advice for those who can’t afford it.

With a 98% success rate, our network of lawyers and barristers ensure fair access to justice when things go wrong. We collaborate with social services whilst ensuring legal obligations are met. We are working towards a future where social care is adequately funded, and we all get the support we need.

About the role

This is an exciting time to join our organisation. We have a new strategy and are growing quickly including across our senior leadership team. We have nearly tripled in size and income since we started operating in April 2020 and we anticipate that this strong growth will continue for the duration of our next strategic period. Access Social Care are an organisation of thirty-six people, and this is a new role in the People team coming at a period of growth to drive a thriving charity and help shape its future.

This is a fast-paced role whose emphasis is on policy / process / systems improvement as well as advising colleagues and managers across the organisation regarding all aspects of the employee lifecycle. You will work with people at all levels of the organisation supporting the People Director on strategy work streams as the organisation continues to grow and evolve.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all day-to-day HR processes within the employee lifecycle to ensure staff are supported appropriately and legislative responsibilities are fulfilled
• Work alongside the People Director to map or review processes across the employee lifecycle, identify blockers and seek to implement solutions that create efficiency and clarity 
• Advise on employee relations and discuss complex or sensitive cases with the People Director to decide the best course of action, ensuring that cases are resolved in a timely manner or be a trusted advisor to our managers with their people challenges
• Coordinate the delivery of projects, process and policy improvements as defined and prioritised within the People Plan, leading on workstreams as outlined by the People Director
• Support the People Director in sourcing training and learning solutions, and evaluating training
• Provide practical upskilling and training to managers and employees in HR practices and policy
• Coordinate recruitment efforts at Access Social Care, ensuring compliance with employment laws and providing guidance to managers. Manage the recruitment cycle and administration process from job ads to onboarding
• Support staff engagement activities across Access Social Care in conjunction with the People Director. These may include but are not limited to the following initiatives: staff survey coordination, and wellbeing events
• To be a super user and actively promote the use of the HRIS system (Bright HR) and ensure that electronic staffing records are updated and maintained accurately in accordance with GDPR
• Dealing with cyclical and ad-hoc data reporting and requests for information including data analysis
• Contribute to effective payroll administration ensuing information is shared with the Finance Officer in a timely manner, and collaborating with the People Director to address and rectify any issues and process improvements
• Work within the parameters of GDPR, ensuring data and information is protected and handled correctly
• Support the People Director as required in any duties which you could be reasonably expected to perform in line with this job description

Key Responsibilities: 

1. To lead on running our employability training and Alumni Job Club.

2. To develop workshop structures and learning materials for these in close collaboration with the Development Director and ensure that participant feedback from earlier programmes is incorporated.

3. To line manage Development Job Coaches as needed.

4. To manage and deliver job search sessions.

5. To lease with Employability Lead when participants are ready to move over in In Work Support team.

6. To advertise project opportunities to autistic people throughout London and manage project recruitment and onboarding.

7. To ensure processes are in-place for each project to:- assess each participant’s individual skills and gather baseline data; ensure job matches are appropriate to the individual’s needs and aspirations; and that targets set are relevant and promote new skills and learning; acquire and complete necessary risk assessments to ensure safety of clients, staff and partners.

8. To oversee the set up and settling in of jobseekers into work placements, when needed. Providing support and training to employers where required; providing personalised on the job training to participants and employers as required and develop strategies and advise on reasonable adjustments.

9. To coach, train and help manage new project staff to support jobseekers and put in place monitoring protocols.

10.  To ensure jobseekers are progressing towards their individual targets; understand protocols and interpret work culture correctly; understand the health & safety in the work environment and adopt appropriate workplace behaviour.

11.  To ensure good working relationships are maintained with all employers/ work experience placements and that feedback is regularly sort from all stakeholders to help improve our service delivery and future opportunities.

12.  As a key member of the Development Team to work closely with the Development Director to actively, engage with employers and external organisations to promote CareTrade and our job seekers and to pursue opportunities to work collaboratively.

13.  To attend events, to market CareTrade to autistic jobseekers and to liaise with Disability Employment Advisors at JobCentre Plus, Disability Services teams, Social Workers and others to promote and support employment opportunities as needed.

14.  To organise and promote social groups for jobseekers.

15.  To collect data and use data analysis to help produce reports, internally, for funders and partners.

16.   To help seek and apply for appropriate awards and grants when required.

17.  To be a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)  and First Aider and complete regular training working alongside the Development Director to ensure the safety of participants and staff.

18.  To complete relevant health and safety training and be a named fire marshal.

About the role  

Across the UK, over 400 organisations refer women for a Smart Works appointment, including job centres, refuges, prisons, working programme providers and other charities. The team in each centre supports clients to access their appointment.

We are recruiting for a Service Delivery Assistant based in our Reading centre to lead on the smooth running of our service, and create a welcoming atmosphere for all clients, volunteers and visitors. Our team is friendly and professional, and we work closely together to make sure every client has an outstanding experience when they visit us.

The Service Delivery Assistant will be the first point of contact a client will have with Smart Works. Therefore, we are looking for a friendly, organised and hard-working individual. The role would be based in Reading city centre, and there will be occasional evening and weekend work as the role holder may be asked to provide key events support. 

Smart Works Reading is part of Smart Works Charity, with Smart Works centres across the UK. There will therefore be some travel and frequent liaison with local centres across the UK and HQ in London, to support induction and training, as well as the day-to-day role. 

Duties and responsibilities

• Being the first point of contact for all clients, volunteers and visitors of the centre, in person, via email and on the phone. 
• Managing the central inbox, responding to clients, referral partners, volunteers, donors and potential supporters.
• Day to day coordination of the Smart Works service, including booking all client appointments, answering the phone and all related service administration.
• Maintaining an up to date and accurate client data base.
• Generating volunteer rotas and day to day volunteer communications relating to service delivery.
• Ensuring the dressing room and stockroom is organised and tidy to a high standard.

Using a gender and trauma-informed approach, the Outreach & Engagement Worker will deliver 2-4 daytime outreach sessions per week in Manchester alongside partners, colleagues and volunteers. They will also attend the Street Engagement Hub weekly to provide specialist support to women attending this multi-agency hub. They will provide brief interventions and casework support to women supporting their needs holistically.

You will work with other members of the MASH team to achieve the following outcomes:

• To improve women’s health
• To improve women’s wellbeing
• To increase women’s safety
• To enable women to identify and achieve their goals
• Women who sex work are heard, understood and experience less stigma
• Other agencies and policymakers understand the needs of women who sex work and are more effective at supporting them

Since 1991, MASH has been at the forefront of supporting women in and around Greater Manchester who are, have been or may start sex working and who are facing multiple disadvantage. We were founded as a social justice organisation, starting out as a grassroots, community led response to the HIV/AIDS crisis and we have continued to support women at the sharpest end of inequalities ever since.

Responsibilities

- Work in collaboration with the ESC team and stakeholders to design a programme of inspiring energy and climate themed events in Hastings, Rother, Eastbourne, and Wealden, reaching a total of 1000 residents across the year.

- Create engagement opportunities for your team at the events and activities of other organisations and local groups by networking and working with the Communications and Marketing person to promote our services.

- Find interesting speakers and organisations to participate in our events.

- Create public events for our No One Left Behind project, finding new, exciting ways to engage the public in conversation about energy and climate topics.

- Manage the administration and logistics of the events, including room bookings, ticket booking processes, etc.

- Look for opportunities to invite our funder along to events and participate in the activities.

- Manage relationships with staff team and volunteer Energy Champions on local events.

- Create event plans and risk assessments for each event.

- Work with the Marketing and Communications Officer and local volunteers to plan PR and promotion of events to agreed timelines.

- Create and work to agreed budgets.

- Ensure events feed into the wider work and services of Energise Sussex Coast.

In the role of Specialist Multiple Disadvantage Worker, you will be expected to work in conjunction with the Team Manager to manage all referrals and assessments in a timely manner to ensure all assessments are conducted in a skilled and sensitive way to encourage potential clients to openly discuss their strengths as well as their deficits.  

As a Specialist Multiple Disadvantage Worker, you will be responsible for the delivery, and evaluation, of a range of Life Skills, and Recovery workshops and activities to support our clients' skills acquisition. To give support and guidance to project workers in relation to best practice standards for supporting homeless people with multiple disadvantages and complex needs.

The Specialist Multiple Disadvantage Worker will have skills in effectively liaising and building good relationships, with external and internal stakeholders to keep a satisfactory level of appropriate referrals.

About you:

• An understanding of best practices in supporting people with complex needs and an ability to support and guidance colleagues.  

• The ability to effectively and intensively case management a small case load of client with complex needs. Also, can create SMART support plans and effectively assess risk.  

• Experience and commitment to working flexibly and creatively to response to changes in sectorial best practice, external environment, organisational requirements, etc.  

• Experience of working with or supporting vulnerable people with support needs around any of the following issues; rough sleeping, mental ill-health, physical health, neuro diversity, problematic substance misuse, ex- offending.

Hillside Clubhouse is recruiting for a mental health employment specialist to join our dynamic Camden team supporting people with mental health conditions to gain and retain employment.  The role is working within the nationally recognised IPS (Individual Placement and Support) model within an NHS secondary care mental health team based in the heart of Camden.

Who we are: 

Hillside Clubhouse is a co-produced mental health employment support charity working across Camden and Islington. We support people with mental health conditions into training, volunteering, and employment opportunities. People can access our services via our Clubhouse, where they can share their skills and expertise with others and support the running of the charity.  Alternatively, they can receive support out in the community from one of our employment specialists based within primary and secondary care.

The Role: 

The role is within our IPS Service and will be based within a Camden NHS secondary care team. As an IPS Employment Specialist, you’ll play an important role in supporting people with lived mental health experience on their recovery journey by supporting them back into paid employment. This is an opportunity to offer ongoing support, to motivate and provide people with hope, while developing the tools and skills required to recover, ultimately transforming their lives.

A variety of skills are needed in this post including but not limited to -  a strong ability to develop empathy and rapport with clients; a determined approach to seeking out job opportunities; a person centric-approach to working with people; strong communications skills to motivate clients; strong administrative capabilities and an attention to detail engage with prospective employers via business development and face-to-face meetings, and to be able to challenge some perceptions around mental health. 

The postholder will be directly employed by Hillside Clubhouse but work under an Honorary Contract from Camden and Islington Foundation Trust.  They will be managed directly by the IPS Operations Manager but work as team member within the clinical team. The role is dynamic and involves being integrated in a clinical team, working within the community, and we operate a flexible working policy where working from home is also permitted up to two days per week.

Overall aim: 

To enable people with mental health issues to gain and sustain competitive employment by working within the evidence based Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model.

Primary Duties: 

• Manage a caseload of up to twenty clients and work within and apply the 8 principles of IPS in all aspects of role. 
• To work with and enable clients to find work using a mix of conventional approaches and employer engagement. 
• To generate ongoing referrals from the clinical team and to manage those effectively. 
• To engage directly and collaboratively with the clinical team while maintaining the existing multi-disciplinary approach to assisting clients seeking work. 
• To report and meet regularly with clinical team service managers and the IPS Operations manager, and to participate in both casework and clinical supervision from IPS Operations and clinical team services managers. 
• To be an active member of both the clinical and Hillside teams 
• To be responsible for own management of administrative duties tied to both Hillside Clubhouse and clinical team and adhering to existing Hillside and NHS protocols. 
• Source job opportunities specific to client needs from a range of sources including those advertised via current and conventional means, as well as through contact with local and Pan London employers. 
• To build up a network of employers to secure available and future vacancies. 
• To maintain existing and seek out new relationships with a range of external agencies of use to the post. 
• To provide ongoing support to both client and employers (where appropriate) when starting work and until such time as the client makes the decision to end the support provided. 
• To work with clients to collaboratively manage job searching activities and engagement with the service. 
• To manage and meet all KPIs, statistics and documentation as required, including but not limited to: referrals, first meetings, job outcomes, job sustainments of 6, 13 and 26 weeks, and work retention.

• To work out of hours as and when required, working in line with Hillside Clubhouse risk management procedures.

• To maintain professional boundaries with all internal and external stake holders including clients, and staff members of both Hillside and the clinical team. 
• To engage and participate in external IPS support services, training, and events. 
• To undertake additional tasks and duties as and when required, and to work outside of normal office hours when necessary.

About the role

Mid Kent Mind runs a wide range of services, including but not limited to, mental health training, wellbeing courses, one-to-one sessions, and social groups. You will be working with both adult and youths in services which focus on nurturing the mental health and wellbeing of our service users in a safe and supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

· As one of our Wellbeing Coaches you will lead on the existing service delivery, courses and social groups, both out in the community and based at our Wellbeing Centre in Maidstone.

· You will plan and prepare a range of engaging online and face to face group sessions, and courses.

· You will conduct wellbeing assessments with our service users.

· You will action safeguarding needs of service users, following MKM’s safeguarding policies and procedures.

· You will work with the team to ensure timely responses to email inboxes, answering phones and greeting visitors.

As an Annual Health Practitioner, you will provide support to local health services with their SMI (Severe Mental Illness) clinics. You will be key in shaping this role as the service develops as well as providing support to the core Access Community Mental Health team. The Annual Health Check Practitioner will also provide 1:1 support to encourage and enable people to attend their annual health checks.

What You'll Do: -

Collaboration and Efficiency: Work hand-in-hand with existing Mental Health Provision for people and their families, as well as other local agencies/organisations to effectively support people transitioning from services.
