Citizens Advice Hounslow is a well-established charity operating in the London Borough of Hounslow, supporting over 10,000 clients a year. We want to expand our capacity for face to face and telephone advice; hence we are looking for an experienced generalist Adviser with the ability to provide advice in person as well as on the phone through our dedicated helplines.

In particular, the role requires you to:

• conduct a thorough holistic exploration of the problem(s) to gain an accurate picture of the client’s situation
• do a benefit calculation as standard for clients
• give full advice and support to clients to resolve their issues
• where necessary, make a referral or signpost clients
• write up case notes to Citizens Advice national standards

About the Service 
Our Nightlight Service is proud to provide urgent support, crisis intervention and emotional support to people experiencing a mental health crisis in Hertfordshire as an alternative to statutory pathways.

We provide support to adults across Hertfordshire 7 days a week, 365 days a year through our helpline, crisis centres, crisis cafes and a weekend Crisis House. We aim to provide a safe space for people in crisis to talk and feel supported, be listened to without judgement, access relevant support with problem solving and facilitate access to external services when necessary.

The objectives of Hertfordshire Mind Network’s (HMN) Nightlight Mental Health Crisis Services are:

• To improve the mental wellbeing of people experiencing mental health crisis in Hertfordshire.
• To increase early access to help for people experiencing mental health crisis in Hertfordshire, by providing a clear and effective pathway to services provided by Herts Mind Network and other third sector and statutory providers.
• To contribute to an improvement in individual mental wellbeing.
• To remain a source of independent support for all clients.
• To provide an alternative pathway to people in distress and crisis to support better outcomes and reduce the demand on statutory crisis services and emergency services.

About the Role 
Mental Healthcare Support Workers are key members of staff delivering the Nightlight Mental Health Crisis Service, taking part in a rota covering 7 days per week, ensuring the delivery of quality crisis support services and instilling Hertfordshire Mind Network’s values throughout the crisis cafe and helpline provision. Working closely with other staff (bank staff, volunteers), coordinators, team leaders and Crisis manager to ensure services are of the highest quality and support the continued growth and development of the service.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing emotional support and developing, alongside clients, flexible and realistic crisis support/person-centred plans within agreed guidelines with support from leadership team (including assessments of need, risk, crisis support plans and review forms), often where risks are significant.
• Liaising with statutory agencies to ensure appropriate intervention is obtained for individuals.
• Drawing upon own lived experience as appropriate to inform the delivery of person-centred support.
• Providing immediate advice and information to clients to support with crisis presentations.
• To support individuals both through telephone support (helpline) and face to face support (crisis café).
• Liaising with Nightlight management and external services e.g. police, ambulance service, Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team, Single Point of Access, Safeguarding Out of Hours Service, Mental Health Liaison Teams, Adult Community Mental Health Services etc .as needed in terms of accepting referrals and proactively recognising the indicators of deteriorating mental health and facilitating appropriate support.
• Completing appropriate signposting/onward referrals to both internal and external services in accordance with identified needs and risks.
• Supporting clients with making drinks and beverages as needed when visiting the crisis café.
• Assisting with housing keeping/cleaning tasks as necessary and reporting any maintenance problems.
• Contributing to the co-development of the service by supporting service user, family and carer involvement by obtaining feedback and supporting where necessary chances to be involved in wider service reviews.

Wader populations have declined dramatically across the UK in recent decades. The RSPB and its partners are working to try and reverse these declines in Norfolk and Suffolk. Farmers and land managers play a crucial role in creating and improving habitats for iconic species such as Lapwing and Redshank, with the support of experienced advisers. Could this be you? Are you inspired by the challenge of restoring populations of our precious farmland wildlife across two nationally important landscapes? If so, we’d love to hear from you!

The post holder will work closely with our local RSPB team. They will identify opportunities and work with landowners to improve grassland habitats for species such as Lapwing, Redshank, Avocet and Oystercatcher. This will be delivered by carrying out site visits, liaising with the landowner to ensure the needs of and benefits to the farm business are incorporated, suggesting improvements to water level management, developing grazing schemes, and developing funding applications with landowners. The role will also involve liaising with partners including Natural England, Norfolk and Suffolk Wildlife Trusts, National Trust, the Broads Authority and the Suffolk & Essex Coast & Heaths National Landscape.

The Wet Grassland Adviser will play a key role in supporting farmers and land managers to improve wet grassland habitats for nature, including through:

• Building partnerships with and between landowners, NGOs and other stakeholders
• Providing advice to farm businesses with new and existing agri-environment scheme agreements
• Designing habitat enhancement schemes which benefit breeding waders (with support from other staff)
• Managing a team of volunteers carrying out breeding wader surveys
• Developing communications and organising events for land managers to build support and share experience

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

• Demonstrable experience of conservation and/or agricultural land management, or of providing landowner advice
• Demonstrate an understanding of the farmed environment and the economics driving it.
• Excellent knowledge of wet grassland ecology and general natural history, with a focus on breeding waders.
• In depth experience of agri-environment schemes (e.g. Countryside Stewardship, Environmental Land Management Schemes) and their application.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentational) - including an ability to speak confidently in public to a variety of audiences.
• Demonstrable experience of engaging with the farming community.
• Experience of building productive relationships with land managers and partner organisations.
• Ability to manage volunteers and set clear work priorities.
• Competent user of core MS Office programmes.
• Ability to travel and work flexibly; able to drive in the UK as sites may not be served by public transport.

Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:

• A good understanding of hydrology and water level management techniques, although on the job training and support will be provided.

• Competency in use of GIS.

About the role:

The MARAC Coordinator will coordinate, administer, and manage the operation of the MARAC. One of the main purposes of the role is to bring together agencies to ensure that local systems are truly keeping survivors safe, holding perpetrators to account, and preventing domestic abuse. A key principle of the post is respecting the independence of each agency and ensuring the MARAC’s key principles are survivor’s and children’s safety, offender accountability and giving a clear message that domestic abuse is s crime that will not be tolerated. The post holder will be located in Brent, and will meet MARAC partners in a variety of settings in the community. The post holder will also spend time raising awareness of the service, domestic abuse, and the MARAC in addition to training agencies on the MARAC and inducting new MARAC representatives on the MARAC.

The post holder will have an excellent understanding of domestic abuse and its effects on women and children, of best practice in supporting survivors of domestic abuse, and of the MARAC. The post holder will also have a good understanding of managing a project.

To be successful as the MARAC Co-ordinator you will need the below experience and skills:

Thorough knowledge of safeguarding practice, procedures and legislation

The Role

The WorldGBC is seeking a dedicated Advocacy and Engagement Manager to join our dynamic team. This role is critical in shaping and advancing our global advocacy efforts, influencing policy, and supporting our network of national Green Building Councils (GBCs) in their advocacy work. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing policy positions, conducting research, and engaging with key stakeholders to promote sustainable building practices and policies worldwide. The Advocacy and Engagement Manger will report to and work closely with the Global Advocacy Director.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

● Support for the Global Advocacy Director: Work closely with the Global Advocacy Director to develop and implement WorldGBC's global advocacy strategy. Assist in coordinating the organization’s advocacy efforts across different regions, ensuring alignment with overall objectives. Provide analytical support, prepare briefing materials, and manage specific projects as directed by the Global Advocacy Director. Act as a liaison between the Global Advocacy Director and other team members, stakeholders, and national GBCs to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.

● Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough research on global and regional policy trends, regulations, and best practices in sustainable building. Analyze potential impacts on the green building movement and develop strategic responses.

● Policy Development and Advocacy: Work with Global Advocacy Director to develop and articulate clear policy positions on key issues related to sustainable building and construction and lead advocacy campaigns to influence international, regional, and national policy frameworks and regulations.

● Collaboration: Work closely with other teams within WorldGBC, including programs and communications, to ensure a coordinated approach to advocacy and policy engagement.

● Support National GBCs: Provide guidance and support to national GBCs in their local advocacy efforts, helping them to navigate policy landscapes and engage effectively with policymakers.

● Communication and Representation: Represent WorldGBC at policy forums, conferences, and meetings, presenting policy positions and advocating for sustainable building practices. Prepare a range of materials, including reports, briefings, and presentations, to support advocacy objectives.

● Stakeholder Engagement: Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the sustainability, construction, and policy-making communities, including governments, NGOs, industry associations, and private sector partners.

What's the role about?

For the key strategic business partnership within the dairy sector the role will visit farmer-suppliers and provide in-person habitat advice, and speak with farmers remotely (via Teams / Zoom) to understand their farming operation and provide habitat advice.

You will use this insight and experience to help inform the marketing tools and advisory programme for broader supply chain (other farms) within the partnership.

For other Fair to Nature farmers, and businesses directly linked to them, you will prepare for and complete advisory visits and follow up with applicant Fair to Nature farmers and share the benefits of Fair to Nature certification. You will advise them on how to comply with the FtN Standard and help them complete their Farm Plan.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

• Knowledge of land management practices that deliver nature and wider environment benefits on farmland.
• Understanding of the ecology of main farmland taxa, particularly those of conservation concern.
• Understanding of agricultural systems and how conservation management may impact on farming practice.

As our Nature Based Solutions Manager, you will be at the forefront of the co-creation of NBS that change peoples' lives and the places they live in two projects - Project Sponge in Slough and Community Bluescapes in Richmond, London. Alongside the other team members, you will demonstrate the power of urban wetlands and other blue infrastructure to help communities to adapt to climate change and build better, safer, more natural places to live.

Your key role will be to co-design and deliver with the local community NBS interventions that build resilience to flooding, provide space for wetland wildlife and improve health and well-being of citizens. You'll manage the tendering process and contractors; ensure high quality and innovative interventions are created and effectively communicate messages about climate change and nature-based solutions to citizens, partners and stakeholders.

This is an exciting, innovative approach to climate change adaptation at street and neighbourhood level. It places local residents at the heart of decision-making, design and delivery of interventions that help keep them safe from floods, droughts, heat stress and create more natural places too.

This role is suitable for hybrid working with the expectation that the successful candidate will spend up to half the working week on site with options for working from home or in office accommodation as appropriate.

 About You

You'll need  a professional qualification in NBS/SuDS/NFM design and installation or similar or significant equivalent experience from previous roles.

We are looking for someone who is well-organised; a creative thinker, a team player, an effective communicator at ease with co-design principles and practice and someone who can be an ambassador for NBS, WWT and our partners.
