Job description

Head of Communications (Maternity Cover) – All We Can

All We Can has invested in a refreshed visual identity, a new website, a new digital asset management system, and a new email platform. Now we need someone for a maternity cover to turn those foundations into real impact — stronger brand awareness, deeper supporter engagement, and greater reach.

This is a rare opportunity to lead communications strategy at a justice-seeking international development charity, at exactly the moment it's ready to grow.

What you'll be doing

You'll provide strategic communications leadership across a critical period of measurement, engagement, and growth. Working closely with the Social Media Officer and the wider Public Engagement Team, your focus will span:

  • Strategic communications leadership
  • Brand development and positioning
  • Supporter engagement and fundraising communications
  • Digital communications and performance
  • Content, stories, and ethical storytelling
  • Media, reputation, and crisis communications
  • Organisational projects and stakeholder management

You'll champion authentic narratives that elevate the voices of local partners — positioning All We Can as a pioneer in decolonising aid, across social media, appeals, the website, and beyond.

What you'll need to demonstrate to be succesful:

  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills
  • Strong understanding of brand management and audience engagement
  • Experience managing digital communications across multiple channels
  • Experience using insight and performance data to improve communications
  • Experience managing people, projects, and suppliers or external agencies
  • Commitment to ethical storytelling, partnership working, and All We Can's values of Love, Collaboration, and Courage

The team

The team is split between the UK and Country Representatives in All We Can's focus countries. The culture is built on participation, inclusive decision-making, personal development, and care — with a clear commitment to being anti-racist.

Salary and location

Salary: £51,000 per annum, pro rata. Mostly home-based, with two days per month in the London office plus occasional additional days as required.
