Introduction
Greater Manchester Youth Federation (GMYF) is a long-established charity running vibrant youth centres across Greater Manchester. We’re dedicated to raising aspirations and creating opportunities for young people, especially those facing disadvantage, through exciting activities, outreach, and outdoor adventures. Purpose of Role:
The Centre Manager is responsible for the effective leadership and management of Ormside Mill Residential Centre (ORC), including all Health and Safety, estate management, operations and bookings. The postholder will ensure high-quality, inclusive, and safe delivery of youth work activities, aligned with our organisational values and mission.

Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management
- To support the CEO in the delivery of our mission, in line with our values and ambition.
- Oversee daily operations of Ormside Mill Residential Centre, ensuring high service standards and smooth handover/takeover procedures.
- Line manage staff associated with the centre, such as the grounds keeper, housekeeper and finance assistant.
- Manage and administer all bookings and reservations for the Ormside Mill Residential Centre, maintaining an organised and efficient system.
- Provide onsite ‘take over’ and ‘hand over’ arrangements for groups, including providing oversight of activities with freelance instructors etc.
Safety, Quality and Compliance
- To ensure they have up to date Safeguarding knowledge and to promote GMYF safeguarding culture.
- Responsible for safe, inclusive practice in all areas of ORC work, through supportive line management of key staff, user and contractor briefings and operations. Be responsible for compliance with health and safety regulations including Fire Safety, Legionella, Contractor Management, vehicle maintenance etc.
- Manage and complete documentation for inspections or quality marks such as AHOEC, Evolve, AALA Licence etc. ensuing readiness for audit and compliance, including supporting the Chief Instructor with kit management and storage.
- To be responsible for a detailed estates plan that sets out key compliance requirements and their successful management within a 12-month period and beyond.
Administration and Organisation
- Represent the organisation in external networks and partnerships related to residential and youth work, including building positive relationship with local residents.
- Collaborate with delivery teams to populate the forecast events and resource demand.
- To identify, submit and secure external funding to support our endeavours, via grants or individual benefactors.
- To promote environmental sustainability, appropriate waste management and care for the environment.
- To be responsible for the production of regular and accurate reports such as the Annual Report, User Satisfaction reports, etc.

ESSENTIAL
Qualifications & Technical Competence
- Current First Aid qualification or commitment to obtain within 3 months
- Relevant qualification in youth work, education, or a related field, with a focus on residential and youth centre management.
- Experience of working within AALA or similar regulatory frameworks.
- L3 Safeguarding qualification working with young people or commitment to obtain within 1 month

- Proven experience in developing and ensuring the quality of programmes and activities within residential centres.

Acorns Children’s Hospice provides specialist care and support for babies, children and young people who are life limited or life threatened. This is a full-time Chief Exec role offering an exciting time to join an organisation making

As GMYN’s Corporate Partnerships and Fundraising Lead, you will generate income from a range of philanthropic and corporate supporters. We want someone who can “sell what we do” and turn leads into impactful partnerships.
As well as building on the existing support and donor network we have, we’re looking for someone who is adept at spotting opportunities and comfortable creating new ones by making speculative approaches by phone, e-mail and in-person.

ABOUT THE ROLE
You will be key part of our Wellbeing and Communities directorate, offering vital support and strategic direction to our Learning and Wellbeing team to achieve our vision and meet funder requirements and coordinating the development of a new partnership aimed at improving health and wellbeing for people across North and West Bristol. Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Partnerships
· To develop and contribute to forums and partnerships that support the growth of our work in North Bristol, including working closely with health partners (community health, Primary Care and acute services) and the learning and employment sectors to develop collaborative services.
· To oversee the Learning and Wellbeing Service and activities, ensuring they meet funder requirements, targets, and quality standards, and are safe, effective and well-managed, including oversight of reporting and budgets and providing leadership and guidance to the Senior Coach.
· To support the development and delivery of the Healthy Ageing Research Project and Community Consortium, working closely with the CEO and Wellbeing and Communities Development Manager.
· To deputise for the Wellbeing and Communities Development Manager at relevant meetings and support the ongoing development of the Communities and Wellbeing team to meet Southmead Development Trust’s strategic objectives.
· To embed community development principles across all work, including strength-based approaches, participant involvement, engagement, and the nurturing of volunteers to help build a resilient community.
· To ensure the safe and effective delivery of activities, interventions and services, including oversight of risk assessments, safeguarding processes, data recording and quality assurance, in collaboration with the Wellbeing and Communities Development Manager.
· To work alongside research partners to develop effective methods for evidencing the impact and effectiveness of interventions, activities and services.
Team Leadership and Line Management
· To lead and inspire the team to create a positive and collaborative culture.
· Coordinate, manage and supervise our Learning and Wellbeing team, and other practitioners as appropriate.
· To provide proactive performance management of staff via the Trusts’ processes, to include but not limited to, holding monthly one-to-one meetings, establishing development opportunities and training.

Systems and Marketing
· To work with SDT colleagues and others to improve systems and processes to best support services and other contractual obligations

Relationship Development, Fundraising New Opportunities
· Build relationships with external agencies, organisations and stakeholders to best support staff and participants and develop new opportunities for delivery and collaborative working.
· Coordinate the Learning and Wellbeing steering group meeting, gathering feedback, advice and ideas to continually improve the service
· Work with teams across Southmead Development Trust to develop engagement and volunteering opportunities for participants.
· Produce content, with the support of the communications team, for social media, mail shots and other channels, to promote and celebrate our wellbeing and learning work
· To develop external funding bids and proposals to sustain and expand our programmes, working with colleagues from the Senior Leadership Team and across the Trust; supporting other income generating activities including supporting the development of tender responses to sustain health and wellbeing initiatives

About the role
We have an opportunity for a Safeguarding Officer to join our very busy team!
The organisation has a strong safeguarding ethos promoting the overall safety, safeguarding and welfare of all of our members. We are seeking individuals who have experience of the voluntary youth or community sector or other relevant professional field and have direct practice experience of working with children & young people in a safeguarding context. The Opportunity
The Finance and Operations Manager will provide financial expertise and support the Head of Finance & Operations (HFO) to deliver high quality financial management in budgeting, forecasting, and monthly reporting.
The role will also support the HFO in the organisation's operations functions, ensuring that legal and operational governance is delivered on time and to a high standard, that SMF is is compliant in Health & Safety (H&S), General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), insurance and other operational matters. The role holder will provide support leadership on the organisation's IT function and deliver training to all teams in matters concerning finance and operations.
Location: We operate a hybrid model of work i.e. a combination of in-person and remote, with flexible days in the office depending on business need and your preferences. We would typically expect in-office attendance an average of one day per week.
When in the office you will be based in one of our regional offices (either Birmingham, Glasgow, Liverpool, London, Manchester or Newcastle – depending on preference and accessibility). This is where you will usually attend in-person events, training sessions etc. though some travel, to other offices and other locations, will occasionally be expected.
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: We are looking for the right candidate and while we envisage this being a full-time role (37.5 hours per week) we are open to flexible working arrangements such as part-time, compressed hours, flexitime and job-shares.
Occasional/frequent evening or weekend work may be required, for which time off in lieu (TOIL) will be given.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Finance:
- Oversee the day-to-day financial management and cash flow of the Social Mobility Foundation (SMF) working closely with the HFO, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Operations team.
- Ensure that our accounting software is consistently up to date with the correct information.
- Work with the HFO on management information to enable the SMT and trustees to monitor progress and performance, make effective decisions and plan for the future.
- Financial information to support income development including budgets, income tracking and analysis and funder reports.
- Support the development of the annual organisational budget with the HFO, in liaison with the CEO and management team and provide support in developing departmental / project budgets as relevant.
- Manage how the organisation applies and reports on VAT.
- Alongside our appointed accountants prepare Year End accounts, end of project accounts, and work with the appointed accountants to ensure the Accounts are completed, approved, and filed on time.
- Manage and improve our financial systems and procedures, streamlining internal processes to ensure they are effective and safeguard the finances of the organisation.
- Devise and implement effective and efficient procedures, including the introduction of a purchase order system and a new ethical procurement policy.
- Maintain the payroll function of the organisation and be the lead point of contact with our external payroll provider.
- Conduct reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities.
2. Operations:
- Support the Data Protection Officer (the HFO) for the organisation, in liaising with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) appropriately, ensure that all staff and volunteers are aware of and trained in the relevant Data Protection policy and procedures, and ensure that the organisation meets its Data Protection requirements.
- Support the HFO in overseeing operational matters such as insurance, H&S, buildings maintenance and asset register; work closely with the management team to ensure awareness, compliance, and procedures that are effective and efficient for staff and volunteers. Where appropriate, escalate concerns and issues to HFO.
3. Strategic Responsibilities:
- Work closely with management and trustees to provide and develop financial and operational expertise; contribute appropriately to the development and management of organisational strategies, service proposals and development of the organisation.
- Lead on the appropriate understanding and training at each level of the organisation on how operational and financial systems work and support their role.
- Ensure that financial and operational policies and procedures meet the highest standards, reflect the charity’s ethos effectively and support the organisation’s strategic development; champion inclusivity (including Equity Diversity and Inclusion (EDI)) and sustainability (in the widest sense).
4. Line Management
- Day-to-day people management
- Outline outcomes to be achieved, considering individual skills, capabilities, and workload to ensure a balanced distribution of work
- Review work outputs, monitor and quality assure work
- Manage and report on performance; deliver performance reviews
- Identify training and development needs; employ a coaching approach, and clarify opportunities for skill enhancement and career growth
- Recruit and induct new team members

Technical knowledge, understanding and experience required:
Essential:
- Part/fully qualified as an Accountant, or equivalent relevant experience
- Significant experience of working in a finance role in an organisation with a turnover of £1m or more
- Hands on experience of maintaining a financial software package
- Experience of working with financial systems to prepare financial reports and management accounts
- Experience in managing the operational aspects of an organisation, including risk assessments, GDPR etc.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of bookkeeping and general financial and accounting principles
- Numerate and able to use an accounting software package
- IT Literate, including experience of Microsoft Office software and excellent skills in using Excel and Word
Desirable:
- Experience of working in a finance role for a charity
- Experience of Accounts IQ accounting package
- Experience of preparing finance reports relating to project grants/restricted funding from a range of donors
- Knowledge of charity accounting and the Charities SORP (Statement of Recommended Practice)
- Knowledge of Salesforce CRM

- Most of our work is office based, but you will spend a lot of time collaborating with other teams and clients via email, telephone and other communications channels such as Teams or Zoom.
- Some travel will be required as part of this role to other offices and locations, as needed for events, work placements and meetings.
